Well done to Vince & all the team for making Feis a memorable day. The music between the three stages was fantastic & highlights were Finbar Furey, The Chieftians, Hothouse Flowers, Sharon Shannon & SON, Aslan, Damien Dempsey & Newfoundland.

Could the option be available to bring in fold up chairs as it’s a long day for people with limited mobility and maybe turn the green area into shade area with seating option.

Roll on #FeisLiverpool2019

User

Well Vince Power, I don't know you but have to say a huge thanks from a Dublin Girl for yesterday's Feis it was just phenomenal, all of it was so well organised, from stage settings to stage areas, to food and drink selections and Portaloos (very important), to hoses with free tap water to keep everyone cool & hydrated, to security and to keeping most stage times on time, that was not an easy festival to organise with some of the best Irish Performers Ive ever seen in one place so thank you from the bottom of my heart it was worth leaving Dublin to spend the weekend in the gorgeous weather in Liverpool with those amazing musicians xx. Susan

User

This event was absolutely epic.. line up was amazing, music was amazing, lots of negative reviews on here, yes there was qs for food and bar what you would expect for been at a concert with 3 different stages ..well done all involved, I'd be first to buy tickets for next year.

User

Outstanding Acts.... An outstanding day, despite standing for over 12 hours in a scorching heat!!!

I cannot wait for the next one, everyone was up for the craic and friendly.

Would have appreciated a programme with map, bands, times etc. and a bit of a bio of the acts..

Need more beer stalls and food vendors..... but as music goes this gig had it all!!

How are you going to beat the line up for the next one? x x Well Done

User

Had a fantastic day with great artists all day underneath the sun! The layout of the stages was great making the best use of space available! Where better to enjoy Irish culture than in Liverpool - my home from home!

However, I have to echo other comments on here regarding food and drink. The bar ran out of ice by 4pm and out of beer and wine by 7pm! Lined up and waited half hour at a hotdog stand to be told at the front that they had ran out of hotdogs. Out of desperation for something to eat and not wanting to miss any of the artists I wanted to see I bought an empty bun. Disappointing dinner to say the least!

User

Had a fabulous day, few little hiccups like que for food/drink (I must have got lucky on my rounds never more than 15 mins) and then running out of drink!

But if tickets for Feis2 we’re going on sale today I’d be first in the que! Fabulous music perfect venue and the atmosphere was just amazing.

Well done to all the hard workers who made it possible!

User

Despite the long queues for food and drink, we all had an amazing day. The atmosphere was very friendly as the sun blasted down all day. Loved loads of acts especially Claire Sands, Imelda, Hothouse Flowers and in particular Van Morrison, Not sure what people expected from him and there are lots of negatives comments about Van on here but I've seen him live a dozen times and this was one of my favourite gigs. He did some great album tracks in the first few songs and then did some of his more popular ones and covers that most people would know. Roll on 2019.

User

Brilliant Day from start to finish with only a few teething problems which can be expected from such a large festival.

The use of the area was brilliant and there was more than enough space to move about and find seats at any time. The bars were slightly slow at times but you could easily buy a couple of rounds at a time to get round the wait. It also ensured people were not getting absolutely smashed so the atmosphere was bang on even at 11pm after 12 hours of drinking.

One thing I would say that was a slight issue was people lying/sitting on the ground near the stage with blankets and chairs. You were basically climbing over them trying to get closer to the stage, the security should have ensured these were only set up further away from the stage/on the grassy area etc.

Overall a brilliant day with fantastic sound quality and no real issues. Great value for 12 hours of entertainment.

User

Probably going to echo many other comments here but they’re bang on. Great line up, great set up in terms of layout of the stages. Poor anticipation on the challenge of keeping everyone fed and watered in the heat. Queues were so long that we ended up missing a couple of bands we really wanted to see. And then they started running short, ice first then drinks later. If you just wanted water you still had to queue. Some sort of shaded area would’ve been good too.

The bands were excellent though, needed to see a longer Hothouse Flowers set, Van Morrison was too jazz orientated and self indulgent for my taste. Saw a couple of bands I’ll look out for again- Biblecode Sundays were good. Was a good day, if it’s back next year I hope they can sort the bar and food situation out.

User

It was amazing the line up was amazing, potty it over ran and the final act didn’t play out as it should. Not knocking it they were all amazing , stand outs Mary, Dubliners, Imelda may omg amazing . Mundy . To be fair they were all brill. There was a shortage of food stalls and bars but these thing happen. We upgraded our tickets at 4 pm as we had enough of the queuing and had 3 kids with us . Best decision we made . Got to speak to Mary, photo with Imelda . Vince Power well done and let me know when the next one is on as we will be booking our tickets , flights and hotel rooms . Can’t wait . Thank you for a great evening

User

I had a brilliant day and LOVED that we could watch the footy without disturbing the music. Lots that can be learned for next time. Don’t make people queue for water. More beer & food outlets. And whatever it was that made you run 2 hours over time, juggling the fabulous Imelda May so lots of people missed her, and then completely losing the Ian Prowse/Damo piece from the final set: What was that about? This was a brilliant location with SO much going for it, can we do it again next year? But properly? Cheers Feis peeps

User

Well there’s no doubting that we will never see a line up like that again - true legends of Irish music (a little bemused as to the complaints about Van being “too jazzy”, he’s a jazz musician). Too many highlights to mention HOWEVER.... the structural set up was a HUGE disappointment. All been said but I really really hope that lessons have been learnt - we need a festival like this, the craic was great and it’s great to have a place to celebrate our culture - more bars, food stalls, water and the ability to leave and come back is crucial. Was very disappointed in the Avent, had been looking forward to it for weeks and left feeling so let down. The location was amazing so started the day excited.Firstly VIP bar was not opened when we arrived, balcony was so packed with no shade, some umbrellas at front would have helped, rose wine at the bar was terrible, like vinegar,so had to que at the regular bar to get a decent wine, which was named as eco falls on the board but then I was given black tower which was fine, even though I was present ed with a bottle and no glass, staff were quite slow and not exactly awake,I asked the VIP bar if they could request for some of the black tower to be sent to bit, they didn't do so,I re-qued in regular que to buy more and asked for it to be sent up,which it was not, ques were so so bad,it took the fun out of the day,and we missed so many acts, bar was not even opened when we arrived even though you posted on FB and 9.33 that it was,and when it was they did not have a bottle opener, pretty basic really.Cocktail bar were so in prepared, they were chopping fruit as it was needed,so question for at least and hour, food selection was so poor and I read that one woman qued for 2hrs for it fish and chips,no options for ceolic, music was good in parts but schedule was all out so missed alot of acts due to them being late and over lapping. Also felt that the music was not loud or clear enough,I was so excited to see van Morrison buy wished he had done more of his well known stuff.Just over all felt like it was so badly organised but such a good concept and if it was organised better could have been the best day ever.

User

Excellent concept, excellent line up however the queuing for food and drink was ridiculous. We lost nearly 6 hours of the day. To get a dink was over an hour and then over 2 hours for fish and chips! The food vans were very limited and I feel an opportunity was missed for great street food which is readily available in most cities.

There where far too many do’s and don’ts associated to the day.

Really nearly need to make some very fundamental changes to the amenities if this is to become an annual event.

User

My expectations were really different than what I experienced. I didn't know the Chieftans very well but for me they were the stars of the show - they had Irish Dancing - a choir and an astronaut on a space station linked in and playing the tin whistle - I would've loved to have heard them more!. Paddy Malone was very inclusive and I feel he has a beautiful soul. Finbar Furey seemed really to embody the music for me and I Really enjoyed his set. I really enjoyed the Hothouse Flowers too. Great music to dance to!

Van Morrison was far too jazzy for me and his song selection was a bit obscure - and I went there mostly to see him. (He fuses jazz into his more classic rock/gospel/jazz styles beautifully; "In The Garden" which is on the Still On Top compilation is just beautiful with a few jazz riffs! But when went goes right over to jazz tonight he lost me I'm afraid.

From such an amazing performer I'd personally hoped to see a performance more timelessly inspired - with a touch a fusion of rock/soul/country/blues and touches of jazz he can do So beautifully.)

Shane Macgowan appeared in a wheelchair - and that really touched me - he seemed frail but his voice held out and just for being there and what it must have took for him I felt immense respect. For me it was also a chance to say thanks in my applause for all the music he has given. That was for me literally an opportunity for me to show some love.

I enjoyed the finale although it was a bit rushed.

All in all it was a good day - very mixed but the highlights were worth it.

User

Loved the line up, great people at festival. Problems with Nathan Carter set had to be cut short! Very flustered. Finale was over an hour late. Poor sound in VIP area and no speakers inside to accommodate people inside, as they could only fit about 50 people on balcony out of the 200 surposed to be able to accommodate. People allowed in when they had a general wrist band very annoying all because they knew someone!! They put too many big tables on balcony so not many people could sit or stand. Health and safety issues not thought about, beers not chilled before, ran out of ice and some drinks. No food as stated in VIP Area when buying tickets we had to que for ages. Dj at end of the night nowhere to be seen, PA system was not set up and this was at 12-15 am. Should of been finishing at 1pm? Security staff where wonderful but they were not informed about the layout of the festival no maps or where the stages where! Better briefing needed to all staff. People took our external seating in to the general area so we had none to sit on!! Great idea but needs a good support network of organisers, who should of sorted things before hand and not on the day. For it to work properly next time more food and drink stalls..

Hawkers going round festival selling beers too would of eased the waiting times. Signage into the festival poor and maps around the festival showing layout of stages etc, all staff should of had maps too to assist any enquiries from customers. Still enjoyed the atmosphere and music.

User

Line up promised so much, but we spent so much time queing for a pitiful selection of food and waiting for stages to be sorted that we missed some musicians that must have been very good...judging by great glimpses of Nathan Carter, Hothouse Flowers, Finbar Furey and many others. Far too many supposed restrictions about bringing in bottles of water, on one of the hottest days of the year...yet security never once checked my rucksack! And the timings of the last great acts was apalling, due to bad p,anning? The highlights of the finale were Mary Coughlan (just wow!) and Shane McGowan for the reception he got. And so sad that Imelda May did not get a full set, she usually excites audiences with energy with her last few songs.

User

Basically spent a lot of the day queuing!! A whole hour for drinks and and over an hour for food that was running out of most things and quite rubbish. Missed a lot of bands that I had wanted to see. Very little shade and surely there should have been water stands. The heat yesterday was hardly unprecedented. Very poorly organised and thought through. The Coronas were the only thing that saved the day

User

One of the worst outdoor music events i have ever been to. I paid up to 70 quid for a ticket and i reckon they have more toilets, more BARS and more staff at the free st. Patricks day event in London. The stages were awful too, watched Nathan Carter and his set got cut on the 2nd song due to the tech cutting out. Bring the Feis back to Finsbury park and stop trying to do things on the cheap, i live in liverpool and love the city but that was just a sh*** show of an event.
