It was just a few weeks ago that I took my car the local Toyota dealership and asked them to see if they could fix the rear off-side window that had stopped working. I had suspected a fuse had blown but Toyota like to hide several fuse boxes around the car, and the one I wanted was concealed behind the glove compartment with no obvious way to get at it!



Finally, they called to say they had checked the fuse and all the wiring, and that all was okay except the motor was goosed and that Toyota only supplied new motors complete with a regulator. Total cost for supply and fitting would be the best part of £500. I decided the cost was too high because the car is about 12 years old, gone around the clock and its value is probably little more than £1k. They charged me 1/2 day's labour - £42 - which I presume wouldn't have been levied had I agreed the repairs.



I asked a motor vehicle repair shop to price me for fixing the window, telling him the Toyota dealer’s diagnosis and what would be required. I didn't hear from him again.



A friend suggested I try Formby auto-electrical engineers. I took it there this morning. This afternoon they phoned. "We've fixed your car window." With some hesitation, asked "How much?" "Fifty Pounds plus VAT." NOT £500!!!

And the fault? Nothing to do with the motor but an "Open circuit in the door."



These guys are honest and they do a good job, so I have no hesitation in recommending them

Always used these guys for audio upgrades in my car and now my fleet of minibuses and trailers. Always helpful and informative, if you want the job doing properly then go here. Buy cheap = buy twice

Arrogant and dismissive, sorry but this is what it seems to me after some on my car. No help to my wife when she collected it.
