User

We went last night 22 of us to celebrate a 50th birthday the place, staff, food all excellent we will be going back luved it

User

Staff very friendly, food was lovely. Only downside no Creme Brulee on the menu but the sticky toffee pudding more than made up for it. Peter Hook being there made my husband and brother's day.

User

Just got back from George’s lovely Sunday roast. Great service & great atmosphere with live music. Nice way to finish off a Sunday evening x

User

Had lunch yesterday 14/5/18 and chose the set menu food was good, service was excellent, sat upstairs on the terrace with the weather being nice for a change and watched all the cars struggling to park and get in and out, Advice to management is to ditch the car port as the posts seem to hinder people trying to park up.

User

Gorgeous food & great service as usual. Staff were great with the kids & the food was yummy x

User

Cannot praise George’s enough for the fabulous evening we had on Saturday celebrating my 50th birthday upstairs in the private area! Staff, food, drinks, service, atmosphere and DJ were way above our expectations, it was first class from start to finish! Thank you so much x

User

Ben, Alex and Ciara are the life and soul of this place, fab food and drink

User

5 of us went last night for a birthday meal and the food was top notch and the staff were great very good value for money.

User

We went for Sunday lunch apart from the very tough roast beef it was lovely. The roast lamb was the better choice. The starter and pudding yummy. Would definitely go again.

User

Really enjoyed my meal and to be fair to the waitress was great, service was fantastic. Very friendly bunch! Do I get a free dinner now?

User

Have been today for afternoon tea as it's somewhere we've always wanted to try. It was mine and my partners one year anniversary so he booked it as a treat. He explained I don't like salmon and so it wasn't a problem to swap for another filling. We arrived and received a warm welcome and had a lovely seat in the window. Ordered our coffees, then the sandwiches were brought to the table and the waitress went to bring the cakes. Sandwiches were delicious but could tell they had been made the day before as bread was slightly dry, still tasty though. I then noticed a really long hair hanging from the cake plate and went to move it but it was held on underneath a cake. A waitress was passing and I showed her, she couldn't apologise enough and I said it was one of those things. She took the cakes away and said the chef with get you fresh cakes now. The cakes came and I'm sorry but I don't think they were fresh, they had just put the same cakes onto another cake stand, sprinkled icing sugar on the scones which had now gone cold, as the first scones were really warm. This is why I have taken a star off the review as my cake appetite had gone due to the hair and wondering if they were fresh cakes.

We will definitely try here again for the dining menu. Such a shame really!!!!

User

Four of us booked for 815 and chose from the set menu. At 9pm our starters arrived. 3 of the 4 were very nice but one was like a toddler portion. A little disappointed. Nonetheless we looked forward to our steak mains. They arrived at 10pm (no drinks order taken in between) and were a little mixed up in terms of how they were cooked. Dessert sort of redeemed the meal as it was fab. Overall the food was ok and the service and waiting time awful. I wouldn't return as it's not value for money.

User

Food was fine, but disappointed with set up. Had an early table booked (5pm) and chose the 3 course set menu. We were asked to eat dessert in the bar as the table needed to be vacated at 7pm.... not exactly great. If you’re only going to allow 2 hours for a 3 course meal and drinks this should at least be made clear when booking. The bar is noisy and packed - not where you’d choose to eat your desserts!

User

Completely unjustifiable what they charge for food

It’s bog standard pub food

Waitress Sarah was absolutely lovely though

Steak was not cooked as requested

Children’s pasta with grated cheese came without grated cheese and it would have fed a small bird

The terrace however is gorgeous sat in the sun but as I said they really cannot justify what they charge for food just for the name sake

£24 for10oz rib eye and £13 for a club sandwich which was in fact just chicken and bacon on a bun

User

Won’t be returning anytime soon. A group of 13 of us went last night, we booked weeks in advance and provided a preorder over a week ago. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready, once we were seated our drinks took ages to arrive. Then it was another 45 minutes before we got starters. The service was rubbish and the toilets were absolutely awful with no toilet role. Although the food was quite nice, some of the portion sizes were very small and not worth the money for the set menu. All in all not a great experience!

User

Service too slow the day we visited for breakfast. Won't be "rushing" back.

Maybe they are waiting for the chickens to lay the eggs?

Got offered free coffees that didn't arrive..

Oh dear

User

The food was fab but the service was awful. It took 10 minutes to get the attention of the waitress to ask for a wine list. I ordered the wine prior to the main course arriving and it still hasn't arrived by the time we had finished our mains. We didn't bother with deserts due to this. When we got the bill we had been charged for the wine. Which we had removed prior to payment, and did not even get an apology for the wine not arriving. Not once were we asked how our food was during or after finishing the starter or the main. Such a shame for the Chefs who clearly care about their customers and produce amazing food.

User

Myself and a party of 8 came on Saturday night as a surprise birthday. We was all looking forward to it as none of us have been before and we have all heard so many positive things about it !! We can’t fault the setting or staff as they couldn’t do more for us, so attentive and friendly.

The food itself tasted lovely and couldn’t fault it on the day apart from.. the next day!! EVERYONE from my party have been ill - sickness, diarrhoea and fever !! Which is odd as we all didn’t eat the same, the majority had goats cheese tart, the chicken and the pork dishes off the set menu as we had to preorder with being a big group.

Needless to say I don’t think any of us will be returning, not sure if it’s just my group that have caught this illness or if anyone else that dined there that night have caught the same!! But we are all very shocked as a 5* restaurant shouldn’t make this much impact on us and making us that ill that none of us can go into work !!

User

I visited this restaurant recently on a baby shower event for afternoon tea.

I have never been before for food, however my friends have and gave it great reviews.

They said when the came previously for a party, they had afternoon tea.

They said they asked if they could have certain sandwiches as they didn’t eat everything that was served. It wasn’t a problem and they were given what they requested.

During our visit we were told we couldn’t change as they had been pre-made the night before!!

When we said night before, she corrected herself and said I mean this morning.

We didn’t arrive until mid afternoon and hence to say they were not fresh at all.

We ended up swapping sandwiches between ourselves as some don’t eat this and that and a lot was left as they were not what we liked.

2 people who were going to have afternoon tea didn’t even have it in the end due to this.

When the sandwiches arrived they were tiny. Again people that had been before said “they were not this small last time”

When the clotted cream came with the scones, you could clearly see where fresh cream had been added to the pot of old cream as the fresh was light and whiter as it should be and the older was yellow and hard at the side.

I went to the bar twice myself while I was there. Bought the same drinks both times and was charged 2 different prices.

On entry to the toilets one had a seat half hanging off and the other one had the flush button front completely taken off and was showing all the internal parts.

This was all in an afternoon before they could say “ah drunk people have broken it tonight or pulled it off “

As I company who advertises a mouthwatering British menu in a building with a contemporary edge I would say that the company isn’t living up to expectations.

I don’t usually make reviews, however these numerous things have made me feel, as a company you should know about these things.

Did we enjoy the baby shower, yes we did as it’s the people who make the party.

However a lot of us were hugely disappointed with the food and standard of the place.

I have emailed and messaged their Facebook page to receive no replies from either. Bad customer service from the company
