Would of give six stars for the scones alone, staff friendly and polite, highly recommend!!!!
We have tried to get in to this Tearoom during the Dickensian Festival in November, but it has always been full. We had the Cream of Parsnip Soup with a Red Onion Lancashire Cheese Sandwich, two of their house blend teas and two of their famous Toasted Tea Cakes. The food, service and atmosphere was ***** (5 stars) and I would highly recommend this Tea Room when visiting Ulverston.
We had lunch today in this friendly tea room..fresh fine foodstuffs served....brimming with local Bhuddistas from Manjushri Institute gives this place an interesting feel. The bonhomie and efficient service from the staff and good fresh food from the kitchen put it right up there in places to visit...
Vegan afternoon tea, what's not to love about this place. I took my friend who's visiting from down South and she was blown away by the options as she's both vegan and gluten free
This is my favourite place to enjoy peace, lovely food and tea whilst reading a good book. A gem of a place. Friendly owners and staff who always go out of their way to give great hospitality. Thank you 😊
This is a regular venue for us. We recently enjoyed the afternoon tea which comprised a sandwich of our choice, a fruit scone with clotted cream and jam and a slice of cake also of our choice. We were also able to choose tea from the extensive menu. The staff are friendly as are Doug and Shirley Gilliam and their daughters, Jess and Patsy. The attached shop is full of wonderful treats and we regularly buy bags of tea and coffee beans there.
Superb tea room - beautiful food, lovely atmosphere. Children's aft tea amazing - with their own little tea set - so cute we bought one! Highly recommend
Roaring log fire, a lovely cup of coffee and some of the best teacakes I've ever tasted! Great way to spend an hour or so on a chilly Autumn morning. Great service as well. Highly recommended.
Had lunch here, service good, staff friendly. Very good choice of vegan food. Well done!
Finally was able to find a spot that I knew would be the perfect place to finally have an Afternoon Tea. Being vegan, I never thought I'd be able to enjoy an authentic and delicious alternative (one that was well executed and not just an afterthought), but Gillam's delivered. It was everything I hoped for, so thank you!
Excellent service by Doug Gillam today. We went in looking for an ingredient which we couldn't find anywhere, they didn't sell it but Doug had some in the kitchen and went and weighed some out for us!! Thanks very much.
Delightful tea room. Flapjack was divine and the little shop was amazing.
Customer service fabulous.
(Only constructive criticism is to make your menu easier to navigate . Maybe have food separate to your amazing tea choice list).

Delicious mezze. Gorgeous cardamom and spiced cappuccino. Beautiful classical music playing.
Called into this little nugget on Saturday after a hike across the hills. What a fabulous selection of teas on offer and neither did the taste disappoint. My wife and I had the fruit bread and friends the carrot cake both were delicious. Cracking place to stop off either for light bites or a meal as what came out of the kitchen looked very appetising.
Always a favourite with my daughter(vegan) and myself, the food is excellent and all freshly made, caters for everyones taste whether vegan, vegetarian or neither, best cafe in Cumbria.
Really cosy looking tea shop so we decided to go in for a bite to eat. Didn't realise it was vegetarian until we we ordering, and we hadn't seen it say that any where outside. That said, the food was lovely and fresh and the atmosphere was quaint and inviting. Service was very good.
Popular and busy. Sat downstairs but there was seating upstairs. Fire was warm, everyone enjoyed the food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only read bikers review about Mushrooms on toast afterwards but my Welsh Rarebit was good. It was a warm and welcome break from the rain outside and the locals who were eating there were really friendly too. Expect to pay between 6-10 per head for lunch with drink.
