Three people were stabbed in a disturbance in #Longsight last night.
Around 7.20pm last night (Friday 3 August) police received a report that a man had been stabbed on Stamford Road.
A short time before it was called in, witnesses report a car pulling up near to Kebabish takeaway when a man got out and started talking to another man.
... Before long, a fight ensued and a number of other people fled to the scene, causing the fight to escalate between around 10 to 15 men.
The group dispersed when it was discovered two men had been stabbed and another slashed with a knife.
One of the men, aged 24, got into a dark VW Golf, and was taken to hospital.
Another man, aged 29, was stabbed to leg and was taken from the scene to hospital in an ambulance.
Another man, aged 25, received minor injuries to his arm.
All three men have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, two of them remain in hospital for surgery and the other is currently being questioned by detectives.
Detective Inspector Mark Astbury of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “As there were so many people involved in the fight last night, local people would have seen or at least heard something that could be vital to our investigation.
“I’m urging those people to get in contact with us straight away – you may not think what you know is particularly important but please, let us be the judge of that.
“Fortunately, we don’t have anyone in a critical condition but I need to stress what a different story this could have been, had the group not dispersed.
“The people involved were carrying knives and demonstrated that they were not afraid to use them – we need to make sure people like this are off our streets and those responsible answer for their crimes.”

A man was forced off his motorbike in #Withington this morning before it was driven away by thieves.
Shortly before 8.10am this morning (Saturday 4 August) police were called to the junction of Burton Road and Palatine Road, to reports of a robbery.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was approached by two teenagers on a scooter – thought to be white or silver in colour – who demanded the man hand over the keys to his motorbike.
... Whilst making the demands, the pillion passenger of the scooter lifted his top to reveal the handle of handgun concealed in the waistband of his shorts.
Once in possession of the keys, the teenagers drove off – the rider on the scooter in tandem with his passenger on the stolen motorbike.
A short time later, it was reported to police that a motorbike – thought to be the one stolen – was involved in a fail-to-stop collision on Grangethorpe Drive, towards Burnage Lane.
The stolen bike is a red Yamaha MT/07 ABS 700cc with an Akrapovic exhaust system and pictures of it have been released.
Police want to speak to two white teenagers, aged between 16 and 18-years-old who are of slim builds.
The first is described as wearing a full-face balaclava and a blue long-sleeve tracksuit top with blue tracksuit bottoms.
The second is described as around 6ft 1in tall and was wearing a helmet that covered his whole face but with the visor up, a jacket over a white t-shirt, shorts and trainers.
Neither of the teenagers were wearing gloves and both were described as having South Manchester accents.
The report made to officers included the registration plate being ‘DY A MATE’ although officers have determined this is not a genuine registration plate.
Detective Constable Michael Zarb of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “While this man was going about his own business, he was forced to get off and watch his beloved bike being stolen right before his eyes, having been threatened with violence had he not complied with the offenders demands.
“We’re confident people in the area would have seen something unusual this morning – this may have been the teenagers with their faces covered or both bikes being ridden in tandem.
“Whatever you have to tell us, if you haven’t get got in contact, I’d urge you to do so so we can reunite this man with his bike and find those responsible.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 6012 quoting reference number 666 of 04/08/18 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Over £52,000 to be recovered from a man who used money he’d made from supplying heroin.
On 14 November 2017, Mohammed Ali (17/12/1973) of Craven Street, Rawtenstall was sentenced to 32 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to six counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and two counts of money laundering.
In July 2016, officers on patrol in Cheetham Hill saw a woman in Ali’s silver Mercedes hiding what looked like wraps of drugs in... her pants. They stopped the pair and recovered 30 wraps of heroin, a small amount of cannabis and £245 in cash.
A few months later, Ali was pursued by officers who saw him acting suspiciously. He was seen frantically trying to put items in his mouth, some of which escaped onto the floor.
He then grabbed the packages of crack cocaine and heroin, and threw them over a garden wall.
Ali’s operation finally unravelled in June 2017 when a man he was with was spotted by police with drugs on his lap. When Ali realised what was happening, he shouted at the man to ‘swallow it’ and despite attempting to wash the drugs down with a soft drink, three wraps of heroin were found in the bottle.
Ali’s significant income is a direct result of the heroin and cocaine which he was supplying in Greater Manchester.
As part of the sentencing for drug possession, a financial investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 was launched to identify assets available for confiscation from Ali’s criminal activity.
Today, Friday 3 August 2018, a Confiscation Order was granted at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square in the sum of £52,650.58, representing Ali’s benefit from his crimes.
He has been ordered to pay the total balance immediately.
Investigating Officer Mark Chesters of GMP’s Financial Investigation team, said: “Ali thought he could outsmart police and continue living on the profits of his illicit dealings.
“He showed no concerns for the people he was putting at risk, but I hope they take some comfort knowing he will have to pay every penny he gained through his devious criminality.
"Today’s hearing where Ali was ordered to pay a significant sum of money sends a clear message to other people profiting from the supply of drugs.”

The family of a woman who was murdered in Ancoats have paid tribute to her.
Michael Marler (16/08/1980) of Brideoak Street, Oldham was sentenced to life in prison and will serve a minimum of 21 years, at Manchester Crown Square today, Friday 3 August 2018, after he was found guilty of the murder of Danielle Richardson.
Paying tribute to Danielle, her family said: “Dannii was much loved by all her family and friends and had much life ahead of her.
... “Dannii was taken from us in February in completely unnecessary circumstances. We cannot express how devastated we are that her life has been stolen from her.
“Dannii is missed every minute of every day.
“Today her killer has been sentenced, and justice has been served.
“We can try to repair our heartache although no matter how long the sentence is, it will not bring Dannii back or make our loss any easier.
“We need to attempt to move on and hopefully today will now provide closure for our pain over the last few months, however, we will never forget Dannii or the many memories she has given us.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past few months.”

A boyfriend who manically stabbed his partner to death before jumping out of a second storey window and terrorising commuters has been jailed.
Michael Marler (16/08/1980) of Brideoak Street, Oldham was sentenced to life in prison and will serve a minimum of 21 years, at Manchester Crown Square today, Friday 3 August 2018, after he was found guilty of the murder of Danielle Richardson.
The court heard how on Monday 12 February 2018, Marler had driven to the flat on Swan Stre...et with the 24-year-old where they had a reservation for two evenings.
The following day, Marler began arguing with Danielle before beating her and fatally stabbing her 15 times.
He subsequently dialled ‘999’ but disconnected the call before it was answered.
Marler then leapt from the second storey flat window where he landed on the roof of a black Hyundai parked on the street below.
He jumped in to the passenger’s seat and assaulted the 59-year-old woman sat in the driver’s seat of the car.
Marler then went on a rampage and assaulted a 24-year-old man as well as damaging a number of cars in Ancoats.
Meanwhile, emergency calls were being made to GMP and officers were sent to the area where they managed to detain him on Oldham Road.
Once detained, officers went into the flat on Swan Street and sadly found the body of Danielle Richardson.
An Independent Office for Police Conduct investigation is ongoing into previous police contact with Danielle Richardson.
Senior Investigating Officer Bob Tonge, of GMP’s Major Incident Support Unit, said: “The traumatic chain of events that stemmed from Marler’s despicable actions brutally took away an innocent life and injured and traumatised many members of the public who had been going about their usual day in the city centre.
“The incidents unfolded in rapid succession as Marler went on a violent rampage but thankfully officers were on the scene in a matter of minutes and while he resisted arrest, police were able to detain him and prevent him from harming anyone else.
“Danielle was subjected to the most brutal attack at the hands of Marler. He showed nothing but rage as he relentlessly stabbed her body multiple times, leaving her with no chance of survival.
“Despite this terrifying and vicious attack, we know Danielle bravely tried to defend herself and fight for her life.
“The pain her family have had to endure since this day is truly heart-breaking and no family should ever be put through agony like this.
“I hope today’s result goes some way to helping them move forwards from this horrendous ordeal and heal as a family.”

A man has been arrested for drug offences as part of an operation by GMP’s Challenger Manchester team.
Shortly after 8pm last night (Thursday 2 August 2018), a warrant was executed at an address on Bryony Close in Wythenshawe where officers arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Also found at the address was a quantity of cocaine and chemicals.
... Whilst at the scene, one of the officers in attendance reported feeling unwell after inhaling chemical fumes. He was taken to hospital as a precaution before being discharged a couple of hours later.
The fire service subsequently carried out a thorough assessment of the chemicals and confirmed them to be ammonia and peroxide. They are not believed to be of any threat to people living in nearby properties.
The warrant was executed as part of ongoing work by GMP’s Challenger Manchester team, a specialised unit of detectives dedicated to tackling organised crime across Manchester.
Detective Chief Inspector Liam Boden, of GMP’s Challenger Manchester team, said: “The man we arrested last night remains in custody and will be questioned by detectives today as our enquiries continue.
“I know the large emergency services presence in the area will have caused some concern amongst local residents last night; however I would like to stress that the scene poses no threat to them or the rest of the community.
“One of the officers involved in the operation felt unwell at the scene so he went to hospital as a precautionary measure and I’m pleased to say that he was discharged later that night and is in good health.”
