Really gutted to post this but felt a need to. We arrived at the shop this morning to find that we had been broken into...AGAIN 😞 This is the *third* time we have been robbed in the short time that we have been open 😣
Burglaries of any kind are awful of course... but for a small independent business like our own, they can be devastating 😓 Thankfully, the forensics team have paid us a visit this morning to collect evidence and we are hopeful that the perpetra...tors WILL be brought to justice 🕵🏻‍♂️
We just want to take this moment to thank all of our wonderful customers for the ongoing support and understanding on days like today when we are perhaps a little flustered! (We are still open as normal.) You guys are what make our shop so very special and those kind words & that extra £1 spent really does go such a long way to repair the damage - emotionally and financially... so thank you ❤️

Today marks the beginning of ‘Independent Venue Week’ - celebrating the spirit of independence & the culture of live music ✨
These often small and intimate venues are the backbone of the live music scene, showcasing both undiscovered and well established artists. We’ve been lucky enough to host some really memorable gigs ourselves, such as when Steve Pilgrim paid us a visit in December - there’s something so special about live music in little coffee shops... 😌

What a lovely place to have a coffee, excellent service and quality food with a relaxing environment, which is what I like . Defiantly recommend a visit �

What a breath of fresh air to have a unique, rustic coffee shop open on Bury!



We have ditched the famous high street coffee shops for this place and since coming here we are never disappointed.

We love coming to "Ground Up". The coffee is consistently great.



It's always a pleasure to see Brian and his team who are always very welcoming.



I haven't tried the smoothies yet but my boys think the Terry's Chocolate Orange milkshakes are really good.

The brownies are yummy too!

Visited yesterday with my husband and baby. We sat outside and had two lattes and a gorgeous piece of carrot cake. The lovely staff brought some toys outside for my little boy to play with! Lovely �

Visited twice, once just for coffee, the next I had a brownie. Both food and coffee were excellent- coffee easily the best in Bury and one of the best I've had in some time. Just what the town needs- a coffee shop for people who love coffee (and not milk...). Deserves to be roaring success.

So happy this place has opened up, a real place to get a good coffee from!!



Staff are absolutely lovely! A must to try when you in bury :D my loyalty card is filling up fast.

Nipped in today for a coffee and cake on the way home from swimming. We've seen it whilst walking about the town but haven't yet had chance to try it out. Nice little spot and definitely something that Bury needs! Perfect spot in town too. They had a fridge full of sandwiches (all looking very delicious) but it was the cakes that tempted us. Top marks to the young lady who served us for the recommendation on the cheesecake. On the subject of the young lady, she was very kind and just good-old decent service which you don't find very often. Same with the gentleman. Coffee was the best that I have had in a while, and, I do love my coffee!! Pleased we popped in and we'll be back again soon.

I’m a coffee addict and Ground Up serves up the good stuff. Lovely place, relaxed atmosphere, top coffee and tasty food. Wish I was in Bury more often so I could loiter in Ground Up 😂

In my (highly critical Parisian) opinion, best coffee shop in town, with REAL coffee, killler cakes (especially the victoria sponge cake!!!), and art in every single detail. Owner Bryan's "art" in human relations really come through, and lovely lovely ladies working here. It's a one-of-a-kind place!!

First visit today & it won't be the last.

Had Brin the greyhound with me, so expected to be served at the door, but we were both welcomed in.

Lovely day, so sat outside with my mocha coffee & chocolate croissant, and the young lady also brought out a bowl of water & some treats for Brin - very welcoming!

Best mocha coffee I've had in ages, so we'll definitely be back!!

Fab cafe, friendly staff, great food and prices! Spacious with good view of the town. Rustic decor mixed with lots of old features. Really impressed :)

Excellent coffee, excellent surroundings and excellent staff. Well deserving of 5 stars and to top it off if you ask the gaffer Brian to sing you a song your in for a treat.👍

Came upon Ground Up by chance on an impromptu visit to the East Lancs Railway.

Had the soup, which was a delicious hearty tomato and bean, served with fresh bread and butter. The cakes were too tempting to miss, chose coconut, lime and mango and was not disappointed.

The only slight niggle was that every table had used crockery and crumbs sitting around for most of the time we were there which I found a little off-putting. However when we tasted the food it was obvious why so many people had eaten here!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Came here for a coffee and was surprised by the food choices and the lovely ice cream with reasonable prices. Lovely staff too :)

Best coffee shop in town. Great tasting coffee (and smoothies). The staff are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. Recommend to anyone looking for a chilled place to relax and enjoy some quality music. 10 out of 10! ✌🏽

Beautiful food....especially the soup and such great value at £5 for a soup and toastie. Who can beat that with the same quality? Very friendly staff...nothing is too much trouble. Well worth a visit. You won t be disappointed!

A relaxing rustic & independent coffee shop that serves great artisan coffee and food. A place where you could sit by the window all day and drink amazing coffee! Very friendly staff and highly recommended.

A lovely, friendly cafe, in a great location.

Only complaint was, the cup of coffee could have been a bit bigger for the price, but we will definitely return when we come that way again.
