KYPHOSIS As we get older it is quite common to see an abnormal rounding of the upper back which throws the shoulders forward and is sometimes unkindly called ‘dowager’s hump’! Its proper name is Kyphosis. If you have spent years hunched over a desk this can be the result as can carrying heavy items like shopping bags which pull the shoulders forward. For better posture try this simple remedy every day. On a soft carpet Kneel with your bottom on your heels. If this is difficul...t, pop a pillow under your ankles. Let your body reach forward from the waist and aim to touch the floor with your forehead, with your arms stretched in front of you as straight as possible. Stay there for as long as you feel comfortable taking a few deep breaths. You will feel the stretch throughout your body. Relax before repeating the stretch and perform up to five repetitions when starting. Later you will be able to increase the repetitions and will soon see and feel the benefit.

Hi ladies,
With the closure of our lovely gym, we have a lot of unknowns to look into and decisions to make, and so we thank you for your patience as we go through this and for the support you have shown us. It really means a lot.
We have made the decision, following the latest information, to freeze all your membership payments from the 1st April for 2 months initially. You will still have access to the members area of the website www.gymophobics.co.uk/memberarea and if yo...u have forgotten the password just let us know.
Stay well, stay hydrated, keep moving, and share your photos and videos with us! It’s a beautiful day today, go and get your cardio with a walk in the park!

💕⭐️ OPEN AS USUAL 🌟💗
We will continue to remain open as usual until, if, the government issue instructions otherwise. Should we be forced to close we will communicate it immediately through a variety of media channels. We are following and reviewing the situation daily. For now, we have introduced the following measures:
💧 We ask all members to please wash their hands with soap and water, for 20 seconds or more, on arrival at the gym, and before and after commencing your cir...cuit or classes. ⏰🙏🏻
🧼🧴 Although already sanitised regularly, we have increased the cleaning and wiping of equipment by our instructors, and have wipes available for anyone who would like to wipe the equipment and hand grips before and after use themselves. We also ask that you allow a gap of an empty machine between you and the next lady on the circuit at all times to keep distance, and to allow for additional cleaning time between members. 🙋🏼‍♀️ 🙋🏼‍♀️
🤸🏻‍♀️ For anyone who wishes, we will replace floor mat exercises with standing calisthenics to achieve the same results. Please speak with an instructor when you are next in. 🧘🏽‍♀️
Keeping up your exercises is encouraged as maintaining/increasing your health and fitness will go some way to lowering the risk of infection and strengthening your immune system for faster recovery.
If you are feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend, and instead work on your Home Exercise Programme. We are still here to support you with this over the phone and would encourage you to ring us regularly to review this and let us know how you are getting on. We hope to have some exciting news to add to this in the next few days.
As always we remain here for you for support and advice as much as possible. If you would like help with your programme, your Home Exercise Programme, diet or anything else please just let us know, in person, phone or email.

🍋Add lemon water to your daily routine! 🍋 Even the smallest changes in your routine can have a big impact on your health. Take starting your day with lemon water...
Aids in digestion Acid helps break down food. That’s why there’s so much of it in our stomachs. The acid in lemons may be especially helpful in supplementing stomach acid levels, which tend to decline as we age.
... Helps you stay hydrated Most of us don’t drink enough water. A daily lemon water habit is an easy way to get your day off on the right foot. How do you know if you’re drinking enough? Your urine is almost clear.
Weight-loss friendly We’re creatures of habit. Ponder the impact of replacing your morning OJ or latte with lemon water. Not just once, but perhaps 20 times a month — and multiply that by 10 years. Your waist line will thank you.
Prevents oxidation Like all produce, lemons contain phytonutrients, which protect your body against disease. These phytonutrients have powerful antioxidant properties, which prevent cell damage from oxidation, the same mechanism that causes rust.
Supplies a healthy dose of vitaminy C Juice half a lemon into your water and you’ll add a mere 6 calories to your diet. Plus you’ll get more than a sixth of your daily vitamin C, which is needed to protect us from cell damage and repair injury.
Provides a potassium boost Your body can’t function without potassium. It’s necessary for nerve-muscle communication, transporting nutrients and waste and blood pressure regulation. Fruits and vegetables are important sources of potassium.
Helps prevent kidney stones Lemon water helps prevent painful stones in those deficient in urinary citrate (a form of citric acid). More importantly, increased fluids help prevent dehydration — a common cause of kidney stones.
