Panoramic views, stunning sunsets and stars, a natural water supply fed by a famous onsite spring used by travellers for years and a warm friendly welcome all awaits you!
This renovated mine shop and forge is now a warm modern bunkhouse where you can relax, meet new friends and soak up a little piece of the historic atmosphere. Sleeping 23 in 3 bunk rooms (1 bunkroom has its own ensuite). With a fully equipped self catering kitchen, lounge, large conservatory and of course hot showers! There’s plenty of space for drying off wet boots and clothing and a unique equipment washing area outside together with secure storage facilities.
After a day exploring this stunning area, you can relax and chill out under the stars.
The adjoining terraced campsite pitches make the most of the beautiful views down the Nent valley. Opposite the bunkhouse is a large carpark with electric hook ups, water and an elsan point for motorhomes and caravans. The North Pennines is 1 of only 7 European and Global Geoparks within the UK in recognition of its global importance to Earth heritage. This special area is renowned as the last wilderness in England. With its stunning landscape of open heather moors and peatlands, tumbling upland rivers, unique industrial and mining heritage and distinctive local wildlife a memorable holiday is guaranteed.
The bunkhouse is directly on the C2C route and close links with local businesses means we can link you up with a wide variety of experiences. Locally there’s cycle hire, on and off road bicycle, motorbike and 4x4 routes and tours, mine exploration trips, fishing, instructor lead outdoor activities, loads of walks, museums like The Hubb in nearby Alston, Killhope Mining museum, Epiacum Roman site and its only 20 miles to Hadrians Wall.

What a weekend!! We’ve finally found a site that will take tree tents. The site was one of the best we’ve stayed at. The toilets and showers were the cleanest iv ever used. It has everything you need for a proper authentic camping experience. Thank you Danny and Helen for the warm welcome and fantastic hospitality. It’s safe to say we will be returning very soon there is mountains of exploring to be done.
We had an amazing time hamocking in the woods in the campsite! The toilets were exceptionally clean and loverly! Marry was very helpful, chilled out and couldn’t do enough to help! Many thanks for having us, we will be back soon!
Two days camping at Haggsbank. Hosts Danny and Helen are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are excellent and very clean. The local area is beautiful and Keilder and the moors are stunning. So much natural beauty. Will be back
This must be the best bunkhouse and camping site I have ever seen. Being fully restored to the highest standard only three years ago and with a level of finish that is seldom seen, it is a most pleasant place to spend the night. Either for groups or individuals. Thank you Danny, Cathy and Jordan!
This is 1 of the most beautiful places on this planet it's our 3rd year of going and we will continue to do so every year .the people are so friendly nothing is to much trouble for them I would highly recommend this bunkhouse and campsite to anyone who likes the great outdoors. 10 out of 10 cheers stu and kez see u all next year
The owner offered a selection of great areas to camp. Spotless showers and toilet. Easy ground for pegging tent. Nice pub 1.5 miles away. Really friendly site bunk house looks lovely as well. Thanks
The bunkhouse is really well designed and the facilities kept very clean. The showers are superb too. The kitchen is a great size. I love the terraced camping area behind the bunkhouse. We keep going back. In part because of the warmth of the welcome but also because of the superb location. So much to see in this area and very convenient!

Me and 3 of my friends stayed at Haggs Bank in April whilst doing the C2C. It could not have been a better place to stay, Danny was up at 10pm, opening the storage unit to lock our bikes away, got us towels sorted our room and then was up the next morning making us breakfast, making coffee etc. It was so good we are back there again in August to do it all again. ����� really impressive place
Located within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Haggs provides a great base from which to explore the surrounding moorland and stunning scenery.
Alston is the nearest town, with a small coop and petrol station as well as cafes and pubs and has also a good hicking shop, remember to pet the dog!
The Bunkhouse itself is very well kept
Just got home after a fantastic weekend spent learning new skills including navigation, first aid and slow riding skills, brilliant team of people made us all feel so welcome and we were very well looked after - the rain didn’t dampen our spirits and made for a more challenging weekend!
I have had a fantastic weekend taking part in March moto madness I arrived on my own never being there before was created with tea and coffee lovely friendly staff excellent facilities amazing area I will definetly be returning in the near future thankyou all would recommend to anyone
I have been to Haggs Bank many times, the owners are really friendly and accommodating. I can recommend Haggs Bank and the area is outstandingly beautiful and never crowded. Love it !!!!!
