WINTER LEAGUE 2 ROUND 10 JUKES WINS AS THINGS START TO GET TIGHTER
In tough conditions Malcolm Jukes scored 41 points to finish 2 clear of the pack and maintain a fine run of form over the last 5 rounds. His handicap reduction to 19 has been thoroughly deserved! Irvin Banka earned some more interest by claiming 2nd place with 39 points. ... John Norton, on the eve of a jaunt to Barbados to celebrate his 50 th wedding anniversary, scored 38 points for 3rd place, beating Dave Price on a card play off . To round off his day in style, John scored the only 2 to take the roll over and put a smile on the faces of playing partners Tony Culshaw and Irvin Banka . In the battle for the Winter League Trophy, Bernard Leahy’s lead is now down to just 2 points and having been the clear favourite with 17 points in hand, is looking vulnerable to the chasing pack.

SATURDAY JOY FOR PARRY THE YOUNGER
On a rare Winter Saturday appearance Phil Parry topped the leader board, he accumulated 44pts to win by three from Craig Manning. Phil had an impressive back nine that included a couple of birdies. Chris Higham took third spot on the podium 38pts
SHARROCK WINS, BUT OWEN TAKES THE TITLE.
... The final round of the Winter Singles was won by Mike Sharrock scoring 44pts, Mike had four birdies and eight pars in his round to finish two points clear of Dave Price & Dave Owen. Sunday looked like a straight shoot out between Darren Leyland & Bobby Goulding for the title, but they both found themselves floundering in mid-division. Dave Owen took full advantage and produced a driving masterclass to score 42pts, which resulted in him winning the Winter League Singles title.

The final round of the Winter singles league is this Sunday and it is still anybody's to win. With Storm Freya bearing down on us it could lead to some interesting golf and scores. Best of Luck to all those involved in the shake-up

Winter League 2 Round 9
On a glorious spring like morning there was a good turn out of senior members who played some cracking golf. It was good to see John Leigh back playing following his trip to Australia. Tony Culshaw ran out the winner with 40 points , reducing his handicap to 7. There was a 4 way tie on 39 points and after a count back Norman Guy took second place, Malcolm Jukes was third , Billy Riley fourth and Phil Perkins fifth.... No one managed a two on the nominated hole, so the pot rolls over to next week.

END OF AN ERA
This week saw the retirement of Ed Smith who has been Club President for many years. At the age of 82 Ed has decided to call time on his golf 'career' and club duties. Ed has been a fantastic servant to the golf club and i am sure we all wish him and his wife Joan a long and happy golfing retirement. Dave Eastham has the difficult role in replacing Ed after being elected the President for the coming year.

Tonight This evening and tonight it will be dry with long clear spells, but some mist, fog and low cloud is expected to form, with the fog potentially dense in places. A chilly night for some. Light winds
Sunday Early areas of mist, fog and low cloud will gradually lift through Sunday morning to leave a dry day with lots of sunshine breaking through. Another mild day with light winds.

User

Be great in summer. Me and my mate liked it. Very wet at mo like everywhere else. Was good value I thought.

User

The course is quite good and challenging when we have a spell of good weather! Not really a winter course! And a little on the expensive side for what you get!

User

Beautiful course spoiled by incompetent green keepers, the greens, I say green more like Browns, where a disgrace
