What a find. Was cycling in the area and our normal haunt was shut and we came upon this find. We sat outside with our bikes and had an umbrella to shade us. We had tuna panini's, which were so tasty!! All washed down with a diet Coke. The landlord was so friendly and made sure everything was ok for everyone and so too did the staff too. A great find and we do plan on coming back and using the pods they're creating as it's such a good base for some exploring!

User

Went today for my dads birthday. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. My dad is disabled the table they gave us was perfect. My dad ordered fish and chips, the landlord Martin could see my dad was elderly and disabled and asked if I wanted a larger plate. His food was brought on a larger deeper plate which helps when u struggle with a knife and fork. They also discreetly brought him a spoon. This was extremely thoughtful and my dad had tears in his eyes when they sang happy birthday. Thank you so much hand and dagger.

Visited on a Thursday evening as the local Carvery was too busy to be bothered queuing for

Knew we were in for a bigger bill for tea but what the heck. Needs must !!

Pub down the road was closed too due to bad weather that morning and the first place I thought of was The Hand and Dagger !!

A dark cold night. A lovely warm welcome from the young Hannah who showed us a table, took orders for drinks and quickly brought over a menu and rolled off the specials

We chose the Lancashire hot pot off the menu and a steak burger off the specials board after a lovely blended broccoli and Stilton soup served with buttered granary bread

The food here is simply divine

Hubby delighted with the home cooked chips “best ever” and with a couple of pints of soft drinks the bill was around £30+

Not a lot for a fabulous tea

Thank you. We’ll be returning !!

User

This was my first meal at The Hand And Dagger in a few years and have to say how delicious it was, the beef was beautifully cooked and all the vegetables were my absolute favourite and it was the best Yorkshire pudding I've eaten out in a long time! Highly recommend the ginger sponge for desert....devine! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Booking is a must as it is so busy and quite rightly so!

Thanks a lot guys, we will definitely be back.

User

Lunch excellent food. Lamb hotpot was delicious and lean meat. Husband commented on how good the beer was. My only criticism was the coffee. It looked perfect but didn't like the milk used. Beer garden with wild flowers was peaceful. Staff very friendly.

User

Lovely pub. Fabulous food and great service. Really comfortable for young children and great choice given you can chose a small portion from the main menu. Definitely recommend.

User

Just love this place. Called in yesterday after a lovely walk In Scorton. Had dog with us and not a problem. I had scampi handcooked chips etc. Scrumptious! Son's had fish (almost covered his plate) with chips and other one had steak and ale pie., plus desserts which were also amazing. ***** 5 star! Excellent service and warm welcome as usual. Xx

User

Just called in after walking the dog on the canal. The landlord and staff were really welcoming and friendly, the food was lovely and it’s dog 🐶 friendly . What more is there to say . Highly recommendable

User

Honestly the tastiest Sunday roast dinner I’ve had for a long time. Gravy was that good I asked for more!! Great food, great staff and great service all at competitive prices. Can recommend.

User

Great food, reasonably priced. Dog friendly.

Also, a varied specials board and vegan/vegetarian specials.

Real ales (though, personally, would like to see a more varied selection of guest ales)

User

Good beer. Good food. Excellent staff and dog friendly. What more can you ask for!

User

First time here and it was just perfect. A lovely country pub that makes you feel at home the minute you walk in. We sat at 1 of 3 tables in a cosy room with an open fire and enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal. I really enjoyed my trout which was the 'catch of the day' and the sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous. The staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Our 2 teens played pool while we sat and relaxed in front of the fire with our drinks. Thank you for a perfect evening.

User

Came for some tea with my partner and son, the clean plates said it all! The staff are all very friendly and attentive and the landlord works hard to ensure everyone is happy and have what they need - we will definitely be back for more delicious food

User

Amazing Delicious Vegan Menu with such variety! Possibly the only Pub in Preston with decent, affordable and tasty plant based options, so thank you chef! Even though there were only 2 vegans in a party of 14 I think 6 of us ordered from the Vegan menu and the rest were more than happy with their food. And the attentive landlord and staff were the cherry on top!

User

We had no problem getting a table even tjough it was busy. Lovely waitress. Ordered the food, i had the shrimps, and my husband hsd the mushrooms. Both excellent. Then i had the gammon and chris had the lancashire hotpot, which he said was the nicest he'd had. And the reason i knocked a star off is that we waited 15 minutes for someone to ask did we want a dessert, no-one did so we paid and left. We will return if in the area again, as it was lovely. And hopefully we can try a pudding.

User

Popped in yesterday with my partner for a late lunch thinking it might be a little quiet after 2pm.. but it was quite busy, managed to find a seat due to sharing a table with someone I knew who was more than willing to budge up.

Not much choice for a vegetarian but I did enjoy the cheese tart that was on the specials board followed by fish and chips, the fish was very tasty but was let down by the very dry mushy peas. My partner had haggis to start also off the specials board which was thoroughly enjoyed but his cottage pie was very dry, I told him to ask for some gravy but he said not to worry. He doesn't like to make a fuss. If passing that way again maybe we will pop in if only to have the chocolate fudge cake.

User

All right but the food on both tables was only just warm we asked for extra gravy which was very hot . The service was very good and fast

User

Absolutely awful. Rude staff and the manager/landlord is the rudest man I have ever ever come across. Will never come in here again. Everybody should avoid.

Lovely pub. Fabulous food and great service. Really comfortable for young children and great choice given you can chose a small portion from the main menu. Definitely recommend.

Xx

Just called in after walking the dog on the canal. The landlord and staff were really welcoming and friendly, the food was lovely and it’s dog 🐶 friendly . What more is there to say . Highly recommendable

Good beer. Good food. Excellent staff and dog friendly. What more can you ask for!

Came for some tea with my partner and son, the clean plates said it all! The staff are all very friendly and attentive and the landlord works hard to ensure everyone is happy and have what they need - we will definitely be back for more delicious food
