Observing a small new business doing well in tough economic times is always a joy and none more so than husband and wife team Elizabeth and Paul Hodson.

A year ago antiques expert Paul and interior designer Elizabeth set up Heritage – a joint venture that saw them working from a delightful boutique interiors shop on Longridge’s main shopping street Berry Lane.

Thanks to their vast experience and great customer service, the business has flourished and just as they celebrated their first birthday, a fortuitous twist of fate presented them with a great opportunity.

A workshop, brimming with character and tucked away across the road from Heritage became available – and with its terracotta tiled floors and blasted brick walls, it now forms a perfect backdrop to Paul’s immaculately restored clocks, barometers and eclectic mix of fine antique furniture.

To have their businesses so close is a real bonus – at Heritage Interiors you will find beautiful fabrics and wall coverings by Osborne and Little, Zoffany, Cabbages and Roses, Moon, Nina Campbell and Kate Forman, vintage style lighting, LSA hand blown glassware, luxury Jonathan Ward candles, gifts, linen cushions and French style ceramics that look perfect in a country house or cosy cottage.

Cross the road and venture to Heritage Antiques and here you will discover perfectly presented Georgian tables, historic oak settles, hunting art, antique silverware and lighting, a fine collection of restored clocks and barometers along with hunting paraphernalia – including a stunning mounted stag’s head.

“We can quite literally source anything, ” explains Paul, who is one of just a handful of clock restoration specialists – a trade that now belongs to a bygone era.

He also sells to specialist collectors throughout the UK and Europe through his retail website.

With heritage colours on the walls and packed with antique pieces carefully selected for their provenance and beauty, Paul’s showroom ideally complements Elizabeth’s French inspired interiors boutique – a perfect pairing!
