The girl who died following the road traffic collision between Efenechtyd and Ruthin last night has been named.
Olivia Alkir was 17-years-old and came from the Efenechtyd area.
Her family have issued the below tribute to her:
... “Olivia was a fun loving, wise, ambitious individual. She was loved by all who knew her. She took huge pride in everything she did and was recently recognised for her tenacity and dedication by being appointed Deputy Head Girl at Ysgol Brynhyfryd. A post she would have undoubtedly excelled in.
“Olivia was kind, thoughtful and excited by the prospect of going to University to study architectural engineering. Olivia worked as a life guard and planned to fund her studies by continuing this. She was a natural ‘water baby’ having spent her summers in her father’s native Turkey where she would spend the days swimming in the sea.
“She had a uniquely unbreakable bond with her adoring parents and was cherished by her cousins, friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
“Although her life has been cut tragically short, she filled her seventeen years with a life-time of achievements.
“Olivia was beautiful inside and out and the world was a better place because of her.”
Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision which happened at approximately 7:30pm last night on the B5105 between Efenechtyd and Ruthin.
The collision involved a red coloured Ford Fiesta and a black coloured C Class Mercedes.
Sadly Olivia, who was travelling in the Fiesta was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other occupants were airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries. The driver and passenger from the Mercedes were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious injuries.
Our thoughts remain with Olivia's family and friends at this difficult time.
The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses are asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat by quoting reference number X089432.

Following a serious collision in Llanbedr, Gwynedd in which a pedestrian was sadly seriously injured earlier this week, a speed check was carried out in the village by colleagues from Go Safe this morning following concerns raised by the local community.
Thank you to all the motorists who were well within the posted 30mph limit, however two motorists were observed to be travelling at 35mph and 42mph. They will be receiving notices of intended prosecution through the post soon....
Please remember that there will be many more vulnerable road users out in the expected fine weather this weekend. Speed checks will continue to be conducted throughout North Wales as part of our #OpDarwen campaign.

Some of our team members attended the ‘Air Smiles Day’ that was recently held at the Airbus site in Broughton.
Air Smiles, which is held in partnership between Airbus and aviation charity ‘fly2help’, are respite days for children and adults living with profound disability, life-limiting conditions, severe illness, bereavement and isolation. The days include lots of activities, giving them a chance to leave their worries behind and create a lasting memory of a wonderfully happ...y day.
Groups of local children and their families took part in an action packed event which included an opportunity to see some of our vehicles, meet officers from North Wales Police and see some of the equipment we as a Roads Policing Unit use. Colleagues from local policing, Armed Alliance, CSI and Community Safety also attended the event. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about crime prevention advice and get their very own fingerprint keyring.
We’d like to thank Airbus for inviting us along. It was a pleasure to be part of such a special day for lots of deserving children and their families. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

A disqualified driver who drove a car at over 100mph on the A55 with a 7-year-old passenger has been jailed.
26-year-old Lucas Troy Needham of Connah’s Quay was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of dangerous driving, fail to stop for police, disqualified driving, no insurance and resisting arrest.
Armed response officers were on duty on the A55 shortly after 11pm on May 20th when they began to pursue a disqualified driver on the A55 ...near Caerwys. An officer from the Roads Policing Unit took over the pursuit and the vehicle eventually came to a stop.
The driver, Lucas Needham, who had a seven-year-old child as a passenger in the Vauxhall Vectra was immediately arrested and taken to police custody.
He was later charged and remanded to appear before Magistrates Court.
Today, Friday June 21st Needham was sentenced to 30 months at Mold Crown Court.
Investigating Officer, PC Pete Doran of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The defendant in this case showed a complete disregard not only for the safety of his seven-year-old passenger but also other road users whilst driving in excess of 130mph, at which some points without any lights being displayed on the vehicle.
“This was one of the worst cases of driving I have seen in my 20 years of policing. I welcome the sentence that this individual has received and hope it will send out a clear message to anybody who thinks of trying to evade from the police that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour on the roads of North Wales.”
