It's not just about Pedigrees here at Hollyvale. This super homebred (by a homebred bull) Black Baldie 3rd calver popped a lovely bull calf out unassisted, sired by a homebred bull. With spring calving days away at Hollyvale, we were pleased to see a group of heifers travel across the pennines to be used as foundation breeding stock for a new Hereford herd in Yorkshire (complete with a membership pack for NEHBA!) We had a great day down at the National Hereford Calf show, Shrewsbury, with our two baby heifers. Hollyvale 1 Katie 3rd and Hollyvale 1 June 3rd paired to take a respectable 5th out of 10 exhibits. Katie, the 3rd youngest in her class finished a very unexpected 5th out of 13 on the Jan-Feb class. But June later went on the out do her stable mate by taking 1st place in the April born class which rounded off an excellent day for us! Thanks to everyone for the nice comments about our calves, we're excited to see them back out next summer!

Hollyvale 1 Powerhouse - Lot 33 at the HCS Autumn show and sale on 9th Oct. A super growy bull matched by great performance EBVs with 200, 400 and 600 day in the top 5% of the breed, and terminal sure and self replacing indexes in the top 10%.
Accredited for BVD and Johnes aswell as being individually tested negative for IBR. 4 year TB parish, whole herd tested negative January 2018. Great breeding on both sides..maternal brother Hollyvale 1 Northern Lad reserve breed champion National Poll show 2017.

A successful show season continued at the final show of the year, Westmorland County show. Hollyvale 1 Sapphire took second in the junior female class, with Hollyvale 1 June taking 4th, before Sapphire was tapped out as Reserve Hereford Champion. Hollyvale 1 Powerhouse took first in the junior bull class. A great turnout from many North of England members.. Well done to Wythenshawe Community farm for taking the breed title!

Super day at Halifax show yesterday with Hollyvale 1 Sapphire winning the largest class of the day before going on to take reserve breed champion. Congrats to all at Coley Herefords for taking breed, then show champion! Great turnout, company and weather. Bit of a change today.. Cattle can't work out what the 'wet stuff' coming from the sky is! We're not complaining.. ☔👌

Another scorcher of a day at Nantwich show and another successful one for the Hollyvale team. Hollyvale 1 June and Hollyvale 1 Sapphire took the top 2 spots in the biggest class of the day containing 8 junior heifers. June went on to take female and breed champion. Hollyvale 1 Powerhouse took first place in the junior bull class and was male champion and then tapped reserve breed champion behind June! We have a selection of bulls and heifers for sale at home. Johnes and Bvd accredited. Tb4 area.

Another Great Yorkshire show gone in a flash! Following our breed class successes on Tuesday with Hollyvale 1 Sapphire taking the Reserve Breed title (and our first ever first prize with a female at the show!), we had further successes in the interbreed group classes. Hollyvale 1 June grouped with animals from Coley, Romany and Pinmoor to take 3rd place in the junior group competition, the Reserve Native team. A hugely successful show for us...thankyou for all the nice messages and great to catch up with friends new and old!

2018 had proved to be a great, Great Yorkshire show for us. Hollyvale 1 Sapphire 2nd took first prize in a very strong junior female class before going on to take the female championship and reserve breed championship. This is 4 years on from her maternal brother taking the breed championship at the same show. Hollyvale 1 June 2nd took 2nd place in the next junior female class, this was after Hollyvale 1 Powerhouse took 3rd place in the junior bull class.

Super day at Bury show with great display of 24 North of England Herefords forward. Hollyvale 1 June was first in the junior heifer class and then Reserve female champion. Hollyvale 1 Powerhouse also claimed a first in the junior bull class. Congrats to Gary, Jo and George Hall on their champion and to the Taylor family on their reserve.

Successful day at Todmorden show yesterday with Hollyvale June and Hollyvale Sapphire making it a 1-2 in the junior heifer class, and Hollyvale Powerhouse taking the junior bull class. June then went on to take the Hereford Breed championship, then the reserve interbreed title!

Another enjoyable day at Shropshire County show.. Our 2 heifers taking 2nd and 7th in a very strong class, won by the heifer which went on to be reserve breed champion. Congratulations to Dendor Poll Herefords for their breed and female champions and to Heather Whittaker and Andrew Hughes for their male champion. Thankyou to the Hereford Cattle Breeders Association and its members for excellent hospitality again!
