M. J Hyland teaches in the Centre for New Writing at the University of Manchester and is the author of three award-winning novels, How the Light Gets In, shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize (2004), Carry Me Down, shortlisted for the 2006 Man Booker Prize, and winner of both the Hawthornden and Encore Prizes in 2007 and, This is How, 2009, longlisted for both the Orange Prize and Dublin International IMPAC Prize. Her short stories have been shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award in 2011 and 2012, and longlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award 2014. www. mjhyland.com

Trevor Byrne is the author of the critically-acclaimed novel Ghosts & Lightning (selected as a Book of the Year by The Guardian and The Irish Times) and leads Creative Writing workshops at the Dublin Writers' Centre and Faber Academy, and, between 2007 and 2009, at the University of Glamorgan. In 2012, he was Writer in Residence at the Centre for New Writing at the University of Manchester, and in 2013, was Artist in Residence at the Culturel Centre Irlandais, Paris. www. trevorbyrne.net
