Julia Gommon - Piano And Violin Teacher In Leighton Buzzard Description
I am a fully qualified musician with many years' experience of teaching and performing, and I love using my teaching skills to help people of all ages develop their love and passion for music.
I am happy to teach young children through to adults - it's never too late to learn! With piano, I can teach complete beginners through to Grade 8 standard, and for violin I currently teach beginners up to Grade 5. I am perfectly happy to take you through the traditional exam syllabuses and help you work towards targets, or if you are looking just to have fun and take a more relaxed approach I am equally happy to devise lessons for you in that format.
Lessons take place at my home in Billington Park, Leighton Buzzard, where I have a fully equipped music room with full size piano. If you are a school teacher interested in lessons for your pupils then please do get in touch and I would be happy to discuss visiting your school to give lessons to any interested pupils on a weekly basis.

Although Joshua has done a lot of bashing around on the piano from an early age, I've held back from introducing the violin as it's so much more breakable! But today we did some violin exploring and he loved it! β€οΈπ»πΆ (note to self: he still can't be trusted with the bow π)
We had a great end to the school year with a celebratory Summer Concert yesterday! Everyone performed brilliantly and I was so proud of you all! Thank you as ever to everybody involved in helping to make the event so special, particularly to my wonderful support team Brad, Valerie and James who helped me set up/clear up and looked after everyone so well in the interval! We enjoyed a lovely variety of music, some delicious homemade cakes and even raised Β£125 for The Samaritans in the process. Well done everyone, you're all stars! β Have a wonderful Summer ππΆπ

Huge congratulations to James Earl who has passed his Grade 1 piano exam with Distinction! James is the first of my adult pupils to have taken an exam, and what a fantastic result! He put in many hours of hard work and dedication and as an adult you have to be so self-motivated to do that. I'm so pleased that he has achieved his goal so brilliantly! :) πΌπΆπΉ

This article proves yet again the incredible importance of music teaching in helping to nurture and develop every aspect of a pupil's education and well-being, both socially and academically. I pray for a future for my child and everyone else's, when music will once again be seen as a priority in schools, rather than sadly too often a casualty of budget cuts.
It was a musical morning for Joshua and his cousin Deacon today! π #doubletrouble #piano #startthemyoung
It's #makemusicday! I'm spending the day at Eaton Bray Academy, making music with my lovely piano and violin pupils today. Whatever you have planned today, why not take 5 minutes out to make some music, either alone, with a friend, with your children, or someone else! Even if you're not remotely "musical" - grab the nearest instrument you can find and make a sound on it - see what you can produce! Get the children to bang some pots and pans! Use your voices and sing your favourite song together. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece. It just has to be music π πΆ
New YouTube video now live! This is an introduction into how to read music (an absolutely vast subject, so this really is just the very beginning of explaining how it works - I'll post more videos on this in the future!)
Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel to keep up to date with all of my tutorials and top tips, and please do let me know exactly what you or your children are struggling with at home so that I can post more videos which are relevant to you :)

Happy Father's Day to all fathers and father figures today! Here I am with my own Father, around 20 years ago, performing together. My Father was hugely influential in creating the musician and teacher that I am today, inspiring me with his own musicianship, and providing me with countless opportunities to learn and perform over the years. Thank you to my Dad and all the other Dads out there for nurturing your children's talents, and giving them the opportunity to love music β€οΈπΆ
Sightreading our way through some duets today with one of my friends - this was so much fun! You should see the blooper reel π Mistakes were aplenty, many laughs were had, but at the end of it all we created some great music and had a lot of fun doing so. This, for me, is what music is all about. Fun, friendship, perseverance and connecting with others. The piano is often one of the more solitary instruments as there is no piano section within an orchestra, so please take the opportunity to play with others whenever you can. There are loads of duet books out there and to share the experience of both failing and succeeding in a performance with a friend is so valuable both for your friendship and your musicianship. #friends #duet #makemusictogether
A lovely end to the week today as I went to view a piano with one of my pupils and their mum, as they were interested in buying one and wanted my opinion, and they decided to get it! It was so lovely to see how happy my pupil was and how excited she is now to get practicing!
The absolute joy which playing an authentic piano over an electric keyboard can bring really can't be beaten - if you are considering purchasing a piano and don't know where to start then please do let me know. I can not only help with searching online but can also come and view it and try it out with you to help reassure you before purchasing. I don't charge for my time - I just want to help because I am passionate about what I do and want all of my pupils to love their instruments as much as possible and be inspired and motivated to play ππΆ
This is amazing and shows just why all you pianists are amazing too - look at all the things we're training our brain to do when we play! β€οΈπΆ
