About Keswick Camping And Caravanning Club Site

Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Keswick Camping And Caravanning Club Site Description

If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations. The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond.

Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking. For a small fee you can launch directly from the Sites shoreline.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.
For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness

What a warm clean and friendly place, bang on the lake you can launch your boar/canoe walk anywhere or the town is 5 mins away if your not so energetic oh yes and the staff so warm and friendly

We've just got back from spending 3 Nights camping, non ehu; on site. It was our first visit to a camping and caravanning club site and we have joined before we left. The management was exceptional, absolutely flawless customer service, cleanliness, scenery and facilities. We loved our visit so much we can not wait to have a few more days off work to come back. So friendly, relaxed and to be honest just pure escape from everyday life. We were very lucky with the weather but I'd come back rain or shine! Thank you for having us Xxx

We opted for super services pitch which was right by the lake. Fantastic views across Derwentwater to Borrowdale and across Skiddaw

The site is fantastically located for the centre of Keswick and surrounding walks. First class washing and toilet facilities and the grounds are superbly maintained. Ten out of ten for the on site staff who are welcoming whilst professional. There are times to follow on site but are there for the enjoyment of all. We have rebooked for June.

Very peaceful time of year to arrive. Just my husband & I, plus dog. The views are spectacular. Facilities clean, and some of the best I've been to. Within walking distance to Keswick centre. Owners met us on arrival to take us to our pitch. Brilliant! We will be back.

This is a really fabulous site been many times, always clean always well run and staff always friendly and helpful, it’s our most consistently visited site.

User

The second time we have stayed here and its the best site/ location we have ever stayed at. all the staff are friendly and its a short walk away from anything you want, town, lake walks, hills ect. we cant wait for our next trip and now its open all year. :)

User

Stopped here many times the site position is fantastic with great views and close local amenities, toilets and showers have now been upgraded(about time) and the site is kept very clean .Friendly site staff but note there is only a tiny car park for friends to visit and they won’t be allowed to park on site.

User

Probably the most scenic C&C site we’ve been to. An easy 5 min walk into town with all it’s shops, restaurants, pubs etc makes this site one of the best. All facilities up to the usual high standard and the staff offer a well informed, friendly welcome. If I was to be picky I wish the pitches were a couple of foot longer as I had to have 2 feet on the grass on my hard standing pitch to allow the space to park my car up front. I do have a twin axle though so no real problem. Well definitely be back and can’t recommend it enough.

User

Me and my partner love it here we have booked to come back already staff very helpful and friendly can’t beat this site it’s amazing not one thing out of place and spotless

User

Just returned from this site. Despite there being works done it is still a very tidy site. Toilet facilities spotless. Best waste room I have ever seen no odour.

Short walk to the town centre.

May give it a go again

User

Great site, our first visit here.. good that it’s so easy to walk into Keswick, The Dog and Gun is your Local and Booth’s is your corner shop. Gutted I didn’t take my kayak as weather was pretty good and there is direct lake access for a small launching fee. Only slight downside is no official dog walk and owners encouraged not to exercise dogs on site which is tricky as it’s quite a way to a proper place where they can do the necessary especially in the mornings (although I was subsequently told they could actually be off their leads right on the Lake frontage) However this does not detract from the lovely site with views of the fells all around. We will definitely go back.

User

Excellent site , second time of staying and booked for the New Year, lovely walks and town near by , also had sunshine all week , wardens friendly and nothing too much bother a very clean site

User

Beautiful place to go for a picturesque view across the lake and surrounding areas town within ten minutes walking distance nice town

though supermarket slightly higher priced than usual price did help having fantastic weather

User

Absolutely lovely site. Wardens very helpful and you choose your own pitch. Toilet block spotless and showers really powerful and hot. Short walk into the town. Lovely views. Will definitely be coming back and definitely recommend it. Only downside is the tv reception isnt very good.

User

Stayed here for 5 nights last week. Very nice site with friendly staff and great views of the Lake and the surrounding hills. The pitches are a bit on the small side but no great problem. Great site would recommend.

User

Lovely site and very well looked after. The new playground is brilliant and we loved being able to walk into Keswick in minutes. We had a lovely gentleman show us to our pitch on bank holiday Monday but then encountered a very rude woman on the Tuesday who had a very unfriendly attitude despite this one member of staffs rudeness everyone else was welcoming and friendly. And went out of their way to help our family which makes all the difference when camping with a 2yrld and 4 month old. We will be back!!

User

Great location, great for kids. Great for dogs, walking, cycling & on & in the lake.Expensive and busy as you would expect in such a good location. Handy for town, pubs & shops. Wardens need to know we don’t know all the rules so give some slack, most will comply when asked politely

User

A beautiful site with very clean facilities and friendly staff, I think it’s a bit greedy that after paying site fees they charge you for getting in your kayak to go onto the lake as an extra, hence 4stars instead of 5 stars

User

The site is lovely and well kept in a perfection location but after visiting friends on the site on Saturday we were told we could leave our car there so we could have an afternoon drink in the town centre. The next morning Our friends motorhome door was knocked on by the site manager rudely asking him to move the car or it will be removed by himself.

When we left the car he was fine about it he never told us there was a time limit on us leaving it there. My husband had to cycle from scotgate campsite where we were staying to get the car.

There was a party of ten on your site that weekend and a few days before and because of the rude way we were treated none of them will stay there again.

My friend was so angry at the way he was spoken to he was physically shaking.

If we had been told we would have to move it by a certain time we would have left the keys with my friends, but we got up early enough ready to have breakfast and a nice walk into Keswick from Braithwaite. He totally ruined our day. I will also be informing the caravan and camping club of this incident.
