IVR - Our automatic call answering system:
Sometimes when you telephone Kirkham Macs Taxis and our team of operators are busy on other calls, rather than leave you waiting, you will be put through to book your taxi to our automatic IVR system. If you have previously booked a taxi with Kirkham Macs, having spoken to an Operator, then you the IVR system stores a callers telephone number and keeps a record of all the addresses booked from that number previously. When you ring a...gain the system will offer to book a taxi for you from one of your popular addresses (landline numbers only have one address option). You will be asked to Press 1 when you hear the address you wish to book from. Should you at any time wish to speak with an operator, then just Press 0 (zero). But please remember you may have to hold until an operator becomes available.
If you already have a booking on our system, then IVR will offer some other options; you can Press 2 to cancel the booking or Press 3 to release it early because you are ready now. If your has been dispatched and is on its way, the system will tell you the vehicle details; registration number, make, model and colour. If you Press 1 it will call your driver so that you can find out where they are and/or how long they will be (all calls between driver and customer are recorded. Also, at no time does the driver or the customer see the others phone number).
Warning: Please be aware that the IVR booking system is an ASAP booking service only, and care should be taken when booking a taxi that will involve the need to make a connection or any other important meeting, i.e. Train, Bus, interview, and a dinner reservation. Always allow at least 20 minutes for your taxi to arrive at busy times, especially if you have an appointment to make. If you are booking from outside Kirkham or Freckleton areas then more advance travel time may be necessary for your taxi to arrive. Please remember that these answering systems, tracking texts and APP Booking facilities have been introduced to speed up your call, avoid caller queues and to get you on your way.

Delivering a safe and reliable wheelchair service to our customers - some useful information which we hope will ensure customer and driver safety, should you wish to reserve a journey in one of our our Wheelchair Buses this New Year:
Customers should be aware that we have the following guidelines for staff and drivers to follow, in relation to the safe loading and transportation of clients. Our team are able to record any special requirements for a client, to ensure that whe...n your home or mobile number appears on our system, the correct vehicle is sent for your journey. For customers requiring assistance with their wheelchair, we need to ensure that the safe loading capacity of the Taxi's ramp is not exceeded. The total weight of people and chairs on the ramp at any one time is not over 300 kg total or 46 stone in weight – which has to include the Customer, Wheelchair and Escort/Driver loading the passenger.
In respect of the maximum weight of the individual client, if the KM driver is expected to assist in loading, then the safe loading weight should not exceed more than 13 stone (83kg) if travelling in a manual wheelchair. – If the client has their own assistant who will accessing/exiting the Taxi, then the only restriction will be the maximum weight limit of the ramp itself. The 83 KG weight limit has been set by KM for the Safety and physical ability of the drivers who currently operate the wheelchair buses.
If a client has a motorised wheelchair and can safely access the vehicles themselves, then the 500 kg maximum weight (46 stone combined weight) is the only access restriction. Please make sure that you inform the telephone operator that you have a motorised chair and can access the vehicle yourself.
