About Lgbt Foundation

We believe in a fair and equal society where all LGBT people can achieve their full potential.

Lgbt Foundation Description

LGBT Foundation is a vibrant charity based in Manchester providing a wide range of services to over 40, 000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people each year.

Our support services include sexual health, wellbeing, counselling, a national helpline, outreach work, a condom and lube distribution scheme, anti-homophobia projects, a range of guides and resources as well as policy and campaigning.

We provide more direct services and resources for more lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people than any other charity of our kind in the UK.
LGBT Foundation is a registered charity (No. 1070904) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 3476576).

Legally changing your gender is expensive, intrusive and time-consuming. But the current law can be changed with your help.

People at risk of HIV are already being denied access to PrEP on the NHS in England. A 10,000 place trial was never good enough.
Today we’re joining with 31 other organisations to call on NHS England and local authority commissioners to make PrEP routinely available to all who need it by 1 April 2019.
The current three-year trial isn’t fit for purpose. It’s capped at 10,000 places and within just eight months over 7,000 of these are taken.
... PrEP is almost 100% effective when taken as prescribed, it’s cost effective when measured against the cost of lifelong HIV treatment and care, and will ultimately stop many, many people from becoming HIV positive.
Share this post and show your support for a national PrEP programme on the NHS in England. https://lgbt.foundation/prepnow #PrEPNow

HIV: Beyond the Fear is an empowering workshop and audio/visual event looking at HIV from both an historical and contemporary perspective. The workshop will include an overview of testing, treatment and prevention, and will examine the history of HIV/AIDS crisis to understand where the stigma around the virus has its origin. The event will also include personal testimony around living with HIV and a screening of documentary film 'How to Survive a Plague' (2012 dir: David France) on HIV activism.

I stand and fight for our rights. Who we love shouldnt make us any less then anyone else. Plus, being a fur, I naturally stand out in a crowd and we fully support and back up the LGBT community. And also, who doesn't love seeing a gay couple? They're usually a lot cuter then most straight couples. Lol

User

I love you guys so much , My sister is Gay and I'm pansexual . I LOVE how much support you guys give to people like me . I LOVE YOU GUYSSS SOOO MUCH SOOO MUCH . Thanks for spreading the love ^^

User

I live love and proud :) I give excellent rates coz others rate me as excellent as well. I give back what others had given to me in my history to Steve Parkinson and Russell Brown :)

I fully support, in all ways, the LGBT community here in NYC and around the world. Which confuses me as to why someone who links themselves to working for you, would harass me on Facebook, slander my name to their followers, all because they took my defense of rape victims, and telling my followers that this is not a matter to joke about, as "mansplaining", and tore me apart while linking my name and profile.

In the last hour, I have had strangers harass and message me, follow me, and I am now concerned.

but, why?

I'm sorry if there was a semantic in my post that this person did not like, but that post wasn't doing anything but pointing out that rape is no joke, and that I stand behind every person who has ever been a victim.

You can see my post for yourself, and while some may find that same semantic there, I don't see how finding one minor thing in a post that I didn't even say, warrants me now being a target.

I am lifetime liberal, friend of everyone from everywhere, have lived my entire life in LA, NYC, and Paris. I am far from anything that resembles what this person made me out to be.

Please talk to them.

I adore it here and always have. The people are lovely and the facility is very nice and cozy. Pronouns respected (which is sadly rare even in the village) and smiles all around

Anti-LGBT doesn't like it so I give it 5 stars for that. Anything that makes them mad most be good for humanity.

User

A few things anger me. The first thing is why are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people not allowed to donate blood?. Their blood is just as good as anyone else's and can be checked for any infections. The second thing that angers me is straight men say two women together is ok but two men is wrong and disgusting. The only thing that's disgusting is the way lgbt people are still treated.

User

This page claims to be 'LGBT" but has no mention of Lesbians. Get the "L' out becuase they make us invisible anyway. Even The Lesbian Day of Visibility didn't rate any use of the L word. You all should be ashamed.

User

This LGBT foundation say they want to encourage people from different backgrounds to apply for their advertised jobs, but never give anyone a chance to come for a interview.

I know a few people (from a asian background) that have said they have applied for jobs which they are more than qualified for and they still never got invited for a interview.

Don’t try and say on your equal opportunities forms that you encourage people from ethnical backgrounds to apply because in reality you don’t want them to!!

User

They support sin and attack people of faith. They twist Gods truth and live for themselves. They couldn’t hold a candle to the missions carried out by the faithful. They preach love while hating people of faith who really love and care about their eternal soul.

User

I need to know the Foundation's stance on underage sex because I'm seeing posts on Facebook that say you support it. I will change my review if you're against paedophilia.

User

I have tweeted x3 about this with no response. 'Confidential' sexual health screening at LGBT Foundation 08/05/2017.

Arrived at 11:22, told by two women at reception that the service didn't start until 11:30 and reception is a 'confidential space' so I would have to stand outside in the street!

I raised my concerns that accessing HIV/Sexual Health support can be an anxious time for many men so being sent out to queue in the street isn't exactly confidential.

The two women couldn't have appeared less disinterested and stuck to the line that if you arrive before 11:30 then you can't access the building!

The service was originally set up for gay men by gay men to support gay men and while I'm not advocating that we should have priority over other service users, surely LGBT Foundation should address this?
