I am Elizabeth McBarnet, a Speech and Language Therapist working with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties affecting adults.

I will listen as you describe your worries to me, then I will teach you ways to overcome these problems.

I assess speech and language impairments, including developmental delay, auditory processing difficulties, speech-sound difficulties, stammering and general confidence and presentation difficulties. Using formal and informal techniques, I am trained to diagnose, manage and treat communication difficulties using a combination of teaching, empowering and playing. I strongly believe that a child's parents are their best teachers. So I encourage parents and other primary carers to be actively involved in the therapy process. If you are looking for somebody to fix the problem while you are away, I cannot provide that service!

My qualification is a 2. 1 Honours degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Manchester University (1990). Since then I have worked in a community clinic with a large, paediatric caseload; a neuro-rehabilitation hospital for adults with acquired brain damage; acute hospital settings with adults with neurological damage.

From 2003- 2012 I ran a successful private practice from home, working with both adults and children. In 2012 my family moved to Doha in the Middle East, where I ran a private paediatric service for 2 years. Now the clinic in Northern Ireland has re-opened.
