Our 14th drummer holds a remarkable record: one of the 60s best session drummers, he turned The Beatles down twice! He did sit in with them once. But who was he? Full story in "Finding the Fourth Beatle"

On 11th September 1962, 1 week after The Beatles went to EMI Studios to start making their first record, Ringo Starr walked into Abbey Road to see another drummer setting up; it was Andy White. Who had he been booked to replace, and why? What did he record? Whose version of "Love Me Do" is better? All these questions, and more, are answered in "Finding the Fourth Beatle". Compare the versions on our exclusive CDs, which has 4 versions of "Love Me Do" by 4 different Beatles drummers!

Following on from John, Paul, George and Alan, we now have John, Paul, George, Pete and Terry! Yes, yet another drummer who sat in with The Beatles during a show in 1961. Rarely interviewed, Terry told us about his 15 minutes of fame behind The Beatles' kit, how it happened, and why it was a one-off, in Finding the Fourth Beatle.

John, Paul, George, Stuart and Alan? Really? Yes! For one night only, a Liverpool drummer - who was previously unknown and never before interviewed - played with The Beatles at the Aintree Institute in the Spring of 1961. Just a young drummer in a local band, he was asked to step in for Pete Best one evening and play with The Beatles. Read this EXCLUSIVE story in "Finding the Fourth Beatle". It is about the 23 drummers.......................and so much more.

When did Ringo first appear on a record with The Beatles? "Love Me Do"? "Please Please Me"? Nein! It was on 15th October 1960 in Hamburg, when Lu Walters from Rory Storm and the Hurricanes asked his drummer, Ringo, and their 3 friends from the Beatles - John, Paul and George - got together to make a record at the Akustik Studio in Hamburg, almost 2 years before "Love Me Do" was released. Read the full story in Finding the Fourth Beatle.

With a matter of days to go before they headed to Hamburg, Paul McCartney made the phone call to Mona, and then Pete, and offered Pete Best the chance to join the Beatles. Has there been a drummer or member of the Beatles more vilified? More criticised? So many authors have offered an opinion on Pete's drumming, yet hardly any are drummers themselves. Although I pkay guitar, bass and piano, I never progressed beyond a single marching drum to a full kit, so I know what good an...d bad drummers are like- I have played with both types! However, I don't believe a true objective assessment of a drummer can be done by an author, or anyone else, unless they are themselves a drummer! So we enlisted the help of 3 drummers of different ages who had no preference or opinion on Pete and asked them to examine Pete's drumming on all available recordings. It has been said that every producer Pete worked with found fault with him. So we examine the evidence. And these drummers analysed everything from M

After Norman Chapman was called up to join the army, The Beatles were yet again in crisis over who would be their drummer. One unknown drummer was discovered a few years ago who never went for the audition, and we have found another who could have auditioned for the role. We reveal who they were, and why they turned the Beatles down, in Finding the Fourth Beatle.

Our next Fourth Beatle drummer is one who featured in "The Fab one hundred and Four: The Evolution of the Beatles" (David's book from 2013), and revealed for the first time the biography and the only photos if Notman Chapman. Chapman should have been the drummwr who travelled to Hamburg with The Beatles, but was called into the army at the last minute. A great drummer, you can hear one of his recordings on our exclusive double-CD of "Finding the Fourth Beatle".

User

Our Ninth Fourth Beatle drummer appeared on stage on the same day as Ronnie "The Ted", though by his own admission, he was terrible! He played one song, and then walked off. However, he later fronted a top Merseybeat band, and even recorded at Apple: though never on drums! Who was he?

User

Our 8th Fourth Beatle drummer has been talked about and searched for since the 60s: who was Ronnie "The Ted"? Finally, after years of looking, we can reveal the true identity of Ronnie "The Ted", who sat in with the Silver Beatles at the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey. But he wasn't the only drummer that night! Who else got up and played? Find out tomorrow.

User

Our seventh Fourth Beatle is the second Beatle - Paul McCartney. In June 1960, after Tommy Moore quit, Allan Williams arranged for his group to back Janice the Stripper for 1 week only! So Paul sat behind the kit. Of course, it wasn't the only time he became the Beatles drummer, when he sat in after Ringo quit during the making of the White Album.

User

Our 7th Fourth Beatle drummer is out of sequence, but the anniversary is today: 9th December 1961. The famous Aldershot gig for The Beatles, arranged by Sam Leach, when only 18 turned up! Read the REAL story about why hardly anybody came to the gig, and which drummer played with The Beatles, while Pete Best danced! Exclusive interview with him too, and his brief career as a "drummer".

User

Our Fifth Fourth Beatle drummer is the legendary Johnny "Hutch" Hutchinson. Hutch sat in with the Silver Beatles on 10th May 1960, and was also one of the drummers asked to replace Pete Best. In our exclusive interview, Hutch reveals when he was asked to join The Beatles in August 1962 - and it creates all sorts of problems, some of which can't be answered! It is a great read.

Day 4 - Who is our Fourth "Fourth Beatle" Drummer? When John, Paul, George and Stuart Sutcliffe decided they needed a drummer, it was their manager Allan Williams who found them Tommy Moore. A technically gifted drummer, not much has been known about Tommy, and too much has been invented!
With exclusive interviews with Tommy's family and friends, this is the most complete biography ever of Tommy Moore. Plus we reveal what really happened between him and John Lennon. We also ...talked to a friend of his who played in a band with him. Tommy didn't give many interviews, but on our "Finding the Fourth Beatle" double-cd, we have the only recorded interview there is.
Tommy Moore was a great drummer - find out more about him in "Finding the Fourth Beatle".

In day 3 of our 23 Beatles drummers from "Finding the Fourth Beatle". Mike McCartney, Paul's brother, claimed that he was "The first Beatles drummer" in an interview, Was he? Did he ever drum with The Quarry Men or The Beatles? We examine the claim, and present our findings in "Finding the Fourth Beatle": now available in softback, hardback and Kindle, as well as the Limited Edition too.

Day 2 of our Fourth Beatle countdown is drummer number 2, which might surprise you. It is Pete Shotton, the one-time member of The Quarry Men and best friend of John Lennon. Find out the whole story in "Finding the Fourth Beatle". David and Garry
