It survived 2 World Wars, periods of recession and great hardship in this once famous and important port of Liverpool to become a tribute to the dedication of a great many people and their skills. Share the amazing journey through our site, as it becomes evident just how important the Cathedral is to the heart and the life of this now internationally acclaimed City of Liverpool.

We attended out daughter’s LJMU graduation ceremony yesterday at this magnificent cathedral. We sat staring with amazement at the beautiful architecture. Just a pity that they had closed the car park. Like lots of others, we had driven a considerable distance to attend and had planned our parking around the venue after checking the website. We arrived to find they were only allowing disabled people to park! Conscious of the time we drove around a strange city trying to find somewhere to park, panicking about missing the ceremony. Spoilt the day slightly. Don’t understand why, if a venue is hired-out to a university that the car park wasn’t available! We stood watching many people being turned away and causing chaos due to limited ability to turn around and resulting in junction on busy road being blocked due to queuing cars.

Venue was amazing though.

User

Stunning cathedral and the stain glass windows are huge & breathtaking. So glad we fitted in a visit before heading back from a lovely weekend in Liverpool :-))

User

One of my favourite places, wonderful architecture very calming atmosphere, you would never know you were so near to town.No entrance fee like so many other Cathedrals, donations are welcome and go towards the upkeep of this beautiful building.

It's a wonderful and amazing plus well used beautiful Cathedral designed by a very talented young architect and a credit to the City of Liverpool long may it flourish! It also has a lovely quite intimate café upstairs and a restaurant on the ground floor so very good facilities as well as a rather sweet Lady Chapel and other interesting nooks and crannies. It's really no wonder it attracts visitors from all over the world!

User

It's a beautiful location and building. I could take a thousand photographs here and never get bored. It's brilliant and the staff are really friendly and very knowledgeable, so the conversations are really interesting to be a part of. Definitely a location I will be returning to in the near future with my camera.

User

I've never felt so close to God like I did last night lying on the cathedral floor with most of the lights out headphones on listening to In Christ alone staring at the ceiling gave me so much peace while all beavers and most leaders were asleep

User

I went to the evensong service on Sunday and it was an indescribable experience.

Just one criticism is that a service sheet is not provided, it would be most useful to have one.

User

I was there with my granddaughter for an audition for the choir. unfortunately she didn't get to sing as she was overwhelmed with everything. Shame...

User

I have visited the cathedral many times, my daughter had her graduation ceremony from ljmu there 6 years ago but it was full of people and we were caught up in the moment, so yesterday I returned with some friends and we visited both of the cathedrals. Liverpool cathedral just blows you away, it's an amazing building and the detail of it all is wonderful. I think we could have spent the day just looking around and sitting taking in the atmosphere. It is a magical place and well worth a visit.

User

I had a very short visit yesterday morning and it was something of a last minute time filler. As a devout atheist I look at cathedrals & churches etc as amazing buildings and I marvel at what people create in the name of religion. I've been to St Paul's, Westminster Abbey, Lincoln, York and they are magnificent, but Liverpool Cathedral just blew me away. As a modern structure in relative terms Scott used materials & techniques to create a much more open space that allows you to see so much more in one go. The outside is both ugly and strangely beautiful but it's that interior you have to see. The windows allow so much light to fall on the cavernous vault, the scale of which just has to be seen to be believed. I'm going back when I have more time.

User

Great experience been a few times before but took the time to explore all the various chapels particulaly loved the lady chapel. Went up the tower bit of a slog for someone my age but worth it views were spectacular on a lovely clear day. Staff were great very helpful and informative knew the cathedral inside out would recommend the experience to anybody who is interested.

User

Everyone visiting Liverpool should go to the cathedrals. It is free to visit the Anglican Cathedral but has a handy new donation station where you can pay £5 contactlessly. Take the Towers Experience, this has a cost but very good value for money and the views are absolutely fantastic. You can eat in the cathedral in two eateries and shop for souvenirs.

However, this is a place of worship and you can find peace here even if it is busy. It's an amazing place.

User

Big thank you to all the staff at the Cathedral who looked after us and set up for the ‘sleep out’. They really are so humble about the great work they do. Recommend everyone to visit this truly magnificent building.

User

Been here a few times. Enjoy it each time. Did the Tower Tour for the first time today, great experience, highly recommend.

User

Attended the Summer Arts Fair yesterday. Many of the same stalls that were there at Christmas, but not as crowded. Always enjoyable, fantastic venue, and even bought a book and some calendars for presents from the Cathedral bookshop (not the Craft Fair). If your in Liverpool even for a day, Liverppol Cathedral is a must visit!

User

As always lovely helpful people/guides. I attended the Ash Wednesday service which I felt fully part off. Fab meal in the restaurant. Very friendly courteous staff. Also bought some unusual gifts in the shop. Visiting the cathedral is always a beautiful experience. Only complaint not enough toilets. But then we can’t have everything.

User

Absolutely stunning!! A must if you visit this lovely city. Had lunch in the cafe, very nice and reasonably priced!!

User

A brilliant evening at the Liverpool Cathedral- great place to experience many different aspects of LLN 2018 many thanks great staff and great rooftop views of the best city of the world 🌎 thank you!
