Congratulations to Senior Pharmacist, Paul Flynn, who is January’s Employee of the Month. 👏👏
Paul was nominated by colleagues for his ‘infectious personality’, which lights up a room 😁 and his ‘willingness’ to go the extra mile to ensure no stone is left unturned when it comes to patient care.✅
Caroline Keating, Associate Director of Corporate Governance, presented Paul with his award 🏆. He said: “I am very overwhelmed to receive this level of recognition. We were delighted to welcome 👋 Prof Graeme Poston back to Aintree recently when he helped host a hepatobiliary cancer educational meeting, attended by guests from as far afield as 🇦🇺 Australia!
Prof Poston, who has dedicated almost 40 years of his life to the NHS, including 14 years at Aintree, recently retired from a career which saw him at the forefront of the treatment and care of patients with Hepatobiliary and Neuroendocrine cancer.
He is recognised the world 🌍 over fo...r his collaborative working and scientific approaches that have resulted in better survival and improved quality of life outcomes for cancer patients.☺️
Dr Clare Byrne, currently Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse at Aintree, worked alongside Prof Poston for over 20 years.
She said: “It was an absolute privilege to work with Graeme. He was one of the first to recognise the great potential in Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist case management roles. His personalised approach to patients and their families, his vision and his wisdom has resulted in a legacy that is emulated and will be sustained by the strength of those who now take over the reins and hold him in such high regard. It was a pleasure to have Graeme back for our education day, we will miss him terribly, but we all wish Graeme and his wife June a long and happy retirement.” ❤️

With 🔜 Tinnitus Week fast approaching Aintree is inviting those living with the condition to attend its popular Tinnitus Support Group. 👋
Taking place on Wednesday 6 February, people with the hearing 👂 condition can come together and share their experiences.
The group celebrated 🥳 its 10th anniversary last year and has close to 40 regular attendees.
... Tony Kay, Head of Audiology (pictured), said: “Tinnitus - noises in the ear, ears or head - affects approximately ten percent of the adult population and it can be annoying for some. Sometimes it can feel like nobody else understands what you’re going through and you may feel isolated and on your own. Nobody with tinnitus should feel alone and tinnitus support groups, such as the one held at Aintree, can help support you. I would always encourage anyone who suspects they have tinnitus to contact their GP for advice.” ✅
The meeting on Wednesday 6th February takes place in Room 2.07 of the Clinical Science Centre at Aintree, from 6pm-7.30pm.
For more info, 📧 audiology@aintree.nhs.uk.

Aintree was crowned 👑 2018’s Sustainable Travel Champion by the Department for Transport (DfT) for our cycling 🚴‍♂️ and walking 🚶‍♀️ to work programme.
The scheme, led by the Sustainability and Health & Wellbeing teams, has resulted in a significant uptake in the amount of staff ditching their cars 🚗 for a more environmentally friendly method of travel 🌳
The DfT recognised Aintree’s commitment to sustainable transport – we started working on this in 2007 ⏱
... Years down the line, Aintree is now an example to many organisations and businesses in the Liverpool City Region ☺️
Raquel Quinteiro, Sustainability and Energy Manager (pictured receiving the award), said: “Words cannot describe how happy our team is to receive this level of recognition. It’s taken a lot of hard work over the years to get to this point and we hope the scheme’s success can continue.”

Congratulations to Dr Rajiv Sankaranarayanan, Consultant Cardiologist, who was presented with a national award 🏆 by Heart Failure Aware, for his outstanding contribution to heart failure treatment through innovations such as the Aintree Heart Failure Mobile📱 app for patients. 🥳
Dr Sankaranarayanan said 🗣: “I am humbled and deeply honoured to receive this level of recognition especially as this is from a patient-led charity, but I do not do these things for awards. This would not have been possible without my amazing colleagues and the support of our Clinical Director. Our combined efforts have helped us to achieve one of the best heart failure outcomes in the North West. This award shall inspire us all further to keep striving hard and innovating in order to improve the lives of heart failure patients.” #ProudofAintree ❤️

Thank you for protecting our four-legged neighbours 🐇 in Bluebell Woods, by correctly disposing of any litter. 🚮
We’ve not had any animal injuries or problems reported for ages, which is great news for our furry friends! 👊
Bluebell Woods 🌳 is not just for us to use to reduce stress and improve our health, but it is a home to a vibrant range of animals - thank you for caring for them! #ProudofAintree 🥰
