In 1969 the architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner expressed his opinion that St Georges Hall is one of the finest neo-Grecian buildings in the world although the building is known for its use of Roman sources as well as Greek ones. In 2004, the hall and its surrounding area were recognised as part of Liverpool's World Heritage Site.

St George’s Hall Liverpool including views from rooftop terrace of Liverpool City Library. Latter is worth a visit as it’s a stunning wow of a building.

Built in 1716-17 as a charity school, Bluecoat Chambers in School Lane is the oldest surviving building in central Liverpool, England.Following the Liverpool Blue Coat School's move to another site in 1906, the building was rented from 1907 onwards by the Sandon Studios Society. Based on the presence of this art society and the subsequent formation of the Bluecoat Society of Arts in 1927, the successor organisation laid claim to being the oldest arts centre in Great Britain, now called The Bluecoat.

Mersey Docks and Harbour Building Constructed between 1904 and 1907, the Port of Liverpool Building, (originally Mersey Docks and Harbour Board Head Office for 87 years, and more commonly known as the ‘Dock Office’) is a Grade II listed building located at Pier Head.
Along with its sister buildings – The Royal Liver Building and the Cunard Building – these... are known collectively as the ‘Three Graces’ and are essential components in Liverpool’s UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site.
In 1900, under the leadership of Robert Gladstone, a competition was launched for local architects to submit designs for the new building. Alfred Waterhouse, a renowned local architect, was brought in to help judge the competition.
Architects were invited to submit designs and were offered a first prize of £300. Seven entries were received, the winning design being created by Sir Arnold Thornley and F B Hobbs in collaboration with Briggs and Wolstenholme, who are responsible for the Edwardian Baroque style of the building.
the Port of Liverpool Building is quite monumental in its physical structure, particularly noted for its large impressive dome, which acts as the focal point of the rectangular building.
The building is described by the World Heritage Liverpool website as, " ... a monumental structure in the Edwardian Baroque style with pediments and tall lantern towers. It has five storeys plus a basement and the principal elevation has thirteen bays with canted corners in the form of full height octagonal towers. ... The corner towers have tall glazed drums, with coupled Ionic columns supporting domes. The central dome is on a two stage drum and was introduced by the architect late in the design stage in response to the board's requirement that the building be given more architectural presence.
Of particular note are the highly decorative details, both in the interior of the building and on the exterior, plus the multiple maritime references and ornate and expensive furnishings.”
In 2001 Liverpool-based property developer, Downing, acquired the building and between 2006 and 2009 spent more than £10m to restore many of its original features to their former glory, some of which, for instance the dome, were damaged in the Blitz.
With a significant investment of time, expertise and money, the Port of Liverpool Building has undergone a major overhaul and been reinstated to its rightful place as one of Liverpool’s most prestigious business addresses.

The pool of life .... one of the best cities in the world

User

The most beautiful waterfront in the world but unfortunately food and drink so overpriced would put me off returning if I was a tourist come on Liverpool don't rip off visitors

User

Our waterfront is beautiful accessible breathtaking even though the weather was cold we still took our time to admire what it has to offer and this time of year it has a Christmas theme fair and stalls

User

Love the pier head. The architecture is stunning. Love being by the river. Love my city 💛

User

Liverpool the best City in the World, two football clubs Liverpool & Everton and also Liverpool has two Cathedrals as well. Liverpool has the best location for television and for filming outside London. Mersey Ferry is the best in the World. Liverpool has the more Culture and Pop.

It’s a lovely walk, passing many famous landmarks. It’s our first but not our last visit. We enjoyed discovering more about the past of the area and how the area is moving with the times.

User

Ice rink was well managed and the ice slide was brilliant....shame though it was raining. Didn’t manage to get into the ice bar as it was closing early but hope to make it back before it finishes

User

An amazing walk along the water side with lots to do and see. I'll take a pad lock next time to add the the immense collection there.

User

An amazing day, watching preparations for the start of the Clipper Round the World race. The precision of the clippers leaving Albert Docks, the care taken for spectators to enjoy an awesome time. Loved every minute of everything, including the way they even arranged for fantastic weather whilst we waited for the countdown.

A little disappointed with the length of the start but the day was worth 5 stars.

Always a pleasant place to visit. The funfair is a new exciting addition, and with the Tate Gallery and two museums within walking distance, it's good for all ages. I was here as part of a Mersey Ferries Explorer Cruise, which includes free entry to The U-Boat Story at Woodside Ferry.

We visit regularly from Oswestry in Shropshire, to see family in Liverpool and always have a full day out!

I would like to see the LamBananas tided up now, as some of them are looking a bit tired and jaded.

I remember them arriving in Liverpool and on display outside St. George's Hall!

They are a great feature and a definite photo stop, however they have lost their shine, and that is sad, as they are a great tourist attraction!

The food & drink at the stalls are over priced. Enjoyed the ice slide

User

Plenty to do and see on a lovely sunny bank holiday Monday

User

Love the skating ring. But couldn't get over the prices of fair and the food. Glad MacDonald wasn't to far away.

User

Great place to go, many things to do and see plenty of good restaurants. Unfortunately the stalls selling food around the Christmas fun fair are grossly overcharging.
