Herrera: Fans will keep De Gea at Man United

User

Manchester United must prove they are up for the “fights and wars” in the Premier League if they are to have any chance of winning the title, according to Ander Herrera.
As the new campaign begins Herrera says they cannot afford to repeat the slip ups from last season if they are serious about being champions for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
“We have to be at least as good as we were last season in the league, but try to make less mistakes. When I say mist...akes, I mean games like Huddersfield away, West Brom at home. I have respect for those teams, but we should have won.
“Some Premier League games, they’re fights and they’re wars. We have to be ready for it. I think we were for most of the games, but we made a couple of mistakes that we need to fix.
“After the game with Huddersfield I said they were more ready than us and more aggressive than us, so the only thing we can do for these games is be ready, because it’s going to be a fight.
“I think the only thing that we can blame ourselves about last season was the Champions League, because we should have beaten Sevilla.
“But in the other competitions, we were in the FA Cup final against Chelsea — and deserved to win, in my opinion — and we had an amount of points in the league that normally you’re fighting for the title.
“I’m happy in the club and I love the fans, I’m playing for the best team in the UK, so my first intention is to stay in the club because I love what I do and I love where I am.”

Mourinho: More signings not the answer for Man United

User

Luke Shaw has vowed to 'keep pushing' on pre-season after starting the first tour game against Club America.
The left back started in the 1-1 draw against the Mexican outfit and put in a solid shift and a fan commented on a picture of the team on a Luke Shaw fan page on Instagram, which Shaw follows, stating: "Well played today, Luke. Keep pushing." To which he replied: "I will."
Reports suggested plenty of clubs are interested in signing him in this transfer window but he is... staying at Old Trafford to challenge Ashley Young for his place.
Mourinho did, however, appear to confirm that Shaw would be starting for United in their opening Premier League game of the season against Leicester.

Andreas Pereira: 'Easy to learn from' Carrick

Portuguese side Sporting have reportedly made an offer for Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira.
According to yesterday's newspaper A Bola, Sporting have proposed a loan spell until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
The Lisbon side are currently looking for a replacement for Rui Patrício, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Manchester United are not keen on letting Pereira go for good, and have initially rejected Sporting’s offer.
... Mourinho has already confirmed that Pereira could leave on loan as he “needs to play”, and with Sporting being a title-contender if a deal can be arranged on loan it would be a good option for Pereira.

Amazing photo from Manchester Uniteds post-season tour to America and Canada in May 1950.
A 12 match tour lasting 6 weeks taking in cities such as Fall River, St. Louis, Chicago, Toronto and Montreal.
Johnny Downie scored 12 goals, including four in a 9-2 rout of a New York All-Stars team, and there was even a 6-6 draw against Mexican outfit Atlas in Los Angeles.
... Hollywood stars wanted to meet the players. Here a signed photo of Jerry Lewis with the squad.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Joel Pereira “will go on loan” this summer and says he signed Lee Grant in order to sanction his departure without losing a useful shot-stopper for the season.
Grant will join David De Gea and Sergio Romero as first-team options, and his arrival means Pereira can leave.
Mourinho has revealed there was more meaning to the Grant deal that met the eye.
... “We did Lee Grant because we have a fantastic young goalkeeper who needs to play football. I really believe Joel is a Manchester United goalkeeper, but he cannot be 19 and two years without football, he has to play. To protect that position, we have Lee.
“We’ve known Lee for a long time, he has experience in the Championship, also with Stoke City in the Premier League, he’s more than ready to fulfil that position and allow the development of Joel, then he will go on loan.”

De Gea has become so vital to United that he has won their Player of the Year award four times - a record at the club - but the Real Madrid links have never went away.
Poor performances in Russia this summer saw De Gea become a scapegoat for his country's failure.
Despite that, Real are in the market for a goalkeeper again this summer - prompting speculation of De Gea's desire, but he's made up his mind.
... According to the Manchester Evening News, De Gea is ready to commit his future to United long-term by signing a new contract and it would almost certainly end any chance of him returning to Madrid.
The criticism that De Gea faced back in Spain after the World Cup has apparently only highlighted how much support he feels at Old Trafford from fans and Ander Herrera has highlights that.
“We have I think the biggest amount of fans in the world, they are very loyal. They have already shown that to him and he knows he's going to get them back.
“I remember that difficult summer when everyone was talking about Real Madrid and he played the first game at Old Trafford and everyone was singing his name. He told me 'This is amazing - they are the best.’”

Mourinho faces an identical dilemma that Sir Alex faced in the summer of 1995, he can either pursue big money signings and try to launch a title-winning campaign, or use the players already at his disposal.

Jose Mourinho intends to play Alexis Sanchez against San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow.
He made an 11-hour flight to the States yesterday and went straight into the United team for Sunday's game.
The Chilean's arrival on tour was been delayed due to visa problems and he missed the opener against Club America.
... Mourinho said: “It is not about when he can, but when he has to. We have no players and especially in attack we have no players.
"Today it was Martial and when Martial left the pitch was Mata and when Mata went to the sides it was a kid that who trained with us for the first time in this pre-season.
"No Lukaku, no Rashford, not here and they probably won't start the Premier League.
“So it is about when Alexis lands and when he lands he has to play because he trained with us five days before we depart to Los Angeles and we left one fitness coach behind with him.
“It is individual training and when he arrives he has to play. If he's coming he has to play."

#BREAKING Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Alex Sandro. Now all they have to do is agree a fee.
Duncan Castles told the Transfer Window podcast: "Juventus don’t want to sell but they are prepared to because they see the price is high and they can cash in. United have agreed personal terms with Sandro, he’s not well paid at Juventus so it’s been easy to say ‘we’ll double your salary if you come’ and push for the move. There's interest from PSG. They’ve also been discussing with Sandro.”
