Manchester born blues legend Victor Brox is probably one of the most underrated champions of the British Blues scene and its unsung hero. This may well have been because he has refused to be pigeon-holed into any single category and has produced an eclectic style which often defied analysis.
What cannot be disputed is his excellent singing voice, musical virtuosity and total eccentricity. He was described by Jimi Hendrix and Tina Turner as their favourite white blues singer. He is without doubt a national treasure.

This is it Ladies & Gentleman, the night we celebrate 2018 turning into 2019 with one of our favourite bands, LOUD NOISES!
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the incredibly talented musicians who play at our little back street Jazz Club. We geekily worked out we have over 45,000 minutes of Live Music a Year and that's no mean feat.
We also want to thank all of our lovely guests who have visited the club in 2018 and hope to see you again in 2019. You're the pe...ople who bring the sparkle to the club!
And finally, a Big Thank You to our wonderful Team including Nigel the Chef, The Best Bar Team in Town, our fabulous Doormen and Lucy who organises the live music programme. We couldn't do it without you.

We warmly welcome Lucy back to the club this evening for her fourth gig at M&P's.
Throughout the night, Lucy will be staging the songs from her album, “The Chanteuse sings Modiano” released in October, 2017. The record is a collection of the songs written in the 1960s and 1970s by the Nobel Prize for Literature winning French author, Patrick Modiano.
The Chanteuse, Lucy Hope, is one of the UK’s leading and most devoted exponents of French chanson. These powerful songs that she reinterprets with her own je ne sais quoi have become a Gallic soundtrack to love, passion and heartbreak.
The Chanteuse will be performing chanson classics from the oeuvres of Jacques Brel to Edith Piaf; Georges Brassens to Barbara. The band will also throw in a few Django Reinhardt inspired gypsy jazz numbers for good fun and good measure! Ooh là là!

HENRY BOTHAM - 5-6PM Following in the footsteps of Jelly Roll Morton, Dr John and James Booker, the New Orleans tradition of recreating a full band using just piano is continued by Henry.
Like his heroes before him he draws upon a wide and unusual repertoire taken from various sources and all brought together under the umbrella of New Orleans piano. Traditional Spirituals, old time Blues, Jazz, stride Piano, Rock, Latin American and Pop songs all contribute to the myriad of styles used to cook up this hot spicy Piano Gumbo.
SOUL GRENADES: 9.30PM - LATE Based in London, hailing from Hackney, Montenegro, Moscow, Sydney and beyond, Soul Grenades have established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts on the funk and soul scene.
Fronted by singer Sabina Challenger, the band boasts a super-tight rhythm section, blistering horns and a burgeoning song book of original music. Went there to meet up with our friends from Qatar, the place had a lovely atmosphere, the staff were fab and the customers were so friendly, nice to see the Northern Quarter busy with lovely bars.

Truely relaxed place filled with happy people who are not affraid to chill out and enjoy the vibez :-) it's a nice feeling when you get recognized by staff ;-)

Saw Kyla Brox and her band , and occasionally her dad victor brox ! One of the best gigs I’ve been to for years. And as ever the food / staff etc were great. Fantastic night !

Really lovely venue with great staff and some brill offers on food and drinks. Many apologies for making a swift exit at the interval last night but both our husbands were like "if you don't leave now you won't get home" as the roads were so bad in Darwen. Hopefully see you again soon!

My first visit to any jazz club, wasnt sure what to expect.



We came down on the 3rd monday of the month to see The Night Creatures for the New Orleans night and we were very very happy with the atmosphere, the decor and the music. We booked a table in advance and we got a great one and the pizzas we ordered were lovely too.

Arrived at 20:00 and left at 00:00. ������

Matt and Phred's is all about the music. That's why it's one of the greatest live jazz and blues bar in the world. It's about great music. It's about black music. And everyone who goes there knows it and that's why the atmosphere at Matt and Phred's is always great. Everyone's there for the same thing: the music.

First time at venue this weekend and won't be last. Couldn't book table as full but got a cancellation when we arrived so that was a bonus also 5* for the young lad serving tables did an awesome job. Until next time �

A huge thank you to Sarah and Claire for an amazing venue and booking Mr Wilson's tonight. Me and the hubby had the best date night and will be back...please book them back for the weekend near 12th April for birthday and yours Claire on the 17th xx

Great venue, great staff very attentive-looked after me, good stage and atmosphere, will definitely go again. The score was only 4 because I’m disabled and the toilet was downstairs. Otherwise great.
