The old Palladium on West Derby Road prior to being knocked down so that they could widen the road . . . I used to watch Batman and Flash Gordon here every Saturday . . Which one did you go to??

User

Long ago in dear old Liverpool
Little gem this . . It's the audio that makes it. Great to hear those voices from Liverpool's past. The audio is lifted fron Vinyl records - remember those? So it's a bit scratchy here and there, but I think that only ads to the atmosphere . . ;)

Get on this . . . it's the Klopp Rap!!

John the Spud is staying put!!!! https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/…/john- spud-saved-after-out…

User

This is totally disgusting! - John's been selling spuds on this spot for 20 years! Shame on Liverpool council!

Brian Jacques - True Scouse Hero
Who didn't like the voice of Brian Jacques? For me, I could listen to him reading an instruction manual on building a combustion engine, and find it interesting. That voice cheered me up every time I listened to "Jacquestown" on Radio Merseyside.
His children's books make fantastic reading, and I'm surprised that more of them haven't been made into films. Here's a little tribute to a true scouse hero . . .

Grab a granny night at the Grafton in the 70s . . did you go?

User

Only in Liverpool !!!!
Ah, the spirit and humour of scousers . . Can't beat it can you??

User

This photo came from "visitliverpool.com" - It's not really accurate because the largest arch outside of mainland China stands in Washington DC, and is 3 foot taller than Liverpool's. It is the largest in Europe though - no matter what the mancs say . . . . . and we have the oldest Chinese community in Europe . .

Looking for a bank . .
Can't beat a bit of old school scouse humour . . . :)

The Stuart Sutcliffe Story In A Nutshell . . .
Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe (23 June 1940 – 10 April 1962) was a Liverpool painter and musician best known as the original bass guitarist for the "Beatles". Sutcliffe left the band to pursue his career as a painter, having previously attended the Liverpool College of Art. Sutcliffe and John Lennon are credited with inventing the name "Beetles", after Buddy Holly's band, the Crickets. The band used this name for a while unt...il Lennon decided to change the name to "the Beatles", a play on the word beat.
While studying in Germany, Sutcliffe began experiencing severe headaches and acute sensitivity to light. In April 1962, he collapsed in the middle of an art class after complaining of head pains. German doctors performed various tests, but were unable to determine the exact cause of his headaches. On 10 April 1962, he was taken to the hospital, but died in the ambulance on the way. The cause of death was later revealed to have been an aneurysm in his brain's right hemisphere.

A tremendous resource! rich in the historic, political and intellectual warp and weft of this textured city. Liverpool and its environs represents for us all a tapestry- race, religion, ethnicity; pioneering political ideas of freedom- for women, ethnic groups both present in the city and abroad. For a place whose wealth was for a time founded upon injustice, Liverpool has done more than anywhere else to cleanse its reputation. And go beyond this. Scousers smell injustice, and reject it at every turn!
