The Stroke Unit at Leighton Hospital now has a dedicated charity information board situated in their day room. The board displays information about the charity; how to make a donation to, or fundraise for the unit and highlights some of the ways in which the charity can help to improve care and experience for patients.
Emma Robertson, MCH Charity Manager said: “Having a charity information board is a great way to tell people about the charity and the ways in which charity gr...ants can enhance the care and experience of patients in that area.
The team on Ward 6 already actively support the charity by regularly holding raffles on the unit and have recently received grants from the charity for some new specialist cups. The charity also funded the beautiful garden on the unit and continues to pay for things like plants and furniture to keep it looking lovely. The team are now keen to raise funds to purchase specialist rehab chairs and wheelchairs for their patients, so by promoting this on the unit we hope that people will want to get involved and support them.”

Andy Golightly, Charity Admin, and Rob Lee, Communications Officer, are both taking part in the Chester triple to raise money for our Lost Little Ones baby bereavement suite appeal.
The Triple is spread over the year and consists of the Chester 10k (8 march), Chester Half Marathon (17 May) and the Chester Marathon (24 October).
If you finish all three events you will receive a ‘Chester Triple’ medal.

When India's mum, Gemma (who works at Leighton Hospital) saw our post asking for donations of unwanted gifts she knew she wanted to help and after telling her friends at school about it, they wanted to get involved too.
Today India visited the charity office to drop off what she'd collected and we couldn't be more grateful!

... It's raising funds for the Lost Little Ones appeal. The appeal will provide the funds to create a dedicated suite and attached outside space on the labour ward for bereaved families.
Also come and see us on the ground floor crossroads at Leighton Hospital on Thursday 13th February when we will be selling tickets and other goodies. The Womens & Children Division will also be selling cakes. We'll be there between 11am & 2pm.

Funding water coolers is just one of the many ways in which the charity supports hospital staff to make their wards and departments more comfortable and helps improve the service offered to patients.
If you would like to donate or fundraise for an area close to your heart, or if you are a member of staff who has an idea for something which the charity could purchase to help your patients, please get in touch.

You still have a few days left to get your entry in for this year's Great North Run ballot. The successful entrants will be announced next week and if you're not lucky enough to get one we have a (very!) small number of places available.
Our places are subject to a registration fee and minimum sponsorship amount which will go towards our Lost Little Ones appeal. Watch this space for more details and good luck!

Fabulous start to our Monday with a visit from the Give Back Gardeners.
They are a group of retired Bentley employees who regularly visit to keep the Macmillan Unit Garden looking pristine.
Whilst they were working away today and little robin dropped in to say hello too.
... Big thank you to them all for their care and attention.
This is another brilliant example of the amazing support we receive from our local community.
