I appreciate everyone wants to know what the findings are from the auditor investigation but whilst they're still in proceedings to uncover the accuracy and truth we have been advised to not comment any further. We can only comment when the auditor has finished their investigations. We want to keep the residents in the loop as much as possible but please respect that we must follow procedure, advice and legality, therefore meaning we cannot comment on anything until the audit...

Do you want to ensure that your Town Council knows your priorities? We want to hear your ideas!... For the first time, the Town Council budget setting process is being held in public, with contributions welcome from everyone. All residents are welcome to attend a meeting on Monday. We met with Fiona and are very pleased that she is working with us for the good of Middlewich. It is about working together regardless of what political party we are from: we all represent Middlewich and want the best for our town.
We would like to say thanks to Fiona for working with us on the objections. We are all in agreement - we need to find a site that's right.

Antisocial behaviour in Middlewich is to be prioritised by Cheshire Police with immediate effect. On Thursday, councillors met with representatives of ANSA, Cheshire East, Street Pastors, Middlewich High School and Cheshire Police.
After the various issues over the summer, Labour Councillors were insistent that Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, David Keane, attended in person, and should come ready with a plan to help Middlewich.
As a result of this excellent meeting,... we are delighted to announce the following:
• Ollie, our PCSO, is now permanently based in Middlewich • A full-time, permanent Police Officer will also be based in Middlewich • A “Task Force” of 1 Sergeant and 3 PCs will be based in Middlewich to tackle our ASB issues
This is an excellent development, and with our new police force working in parallel with our new CCTV capabilities, we should all start to see an improvement.
We would like to thank David Keane for his brilliant response to our request, and it was also wonderful to see his commitment echoed in a beat meeting which also took place this week.

A new range of equipment, including multi-play units, mini-games and a pirate’s boat, will be installed, and some existing equipment will be retained. The whole site will be refurbished to improve safety and accessibility. Work begins this week and is set to be completed in 4 to 5 weeks.

MIDDLEWICH MATTERS MEETING – THANK YOU.
On behalf of everyone, I would like to offer our sincere thanks to all those residents, including members of the settled traveller community, who attended the public meeting yesterday.
Despite being hastily arranged, the venue was getting on for full, which just shows the strength of feeling in our town, and we were pleased with the questions, concerns and ideas raised from the floor. I think we all on the panel learned things that we d...idn’t know before, all of it useful for our cause. As I said, this needs to be a team effort with everyone in the town working together. There is a wealth of talent and knowledge within the town and we want to encourage anyone with ideas and energy to come forward.
What is evident is that no one – not residents, settled travellers, transient travellers, current or former councillors – think the Cledford Lane site is a good idea. And what I was most pleased about is that residents were extremely welcoming towards the travellers who already call Middlewich their home. Settled travellers have become well integrated in recent years and they believe this site represents a destabilising risk.
Cheshire East see a transient site as a box-ticking exercise, but Cledford Lane is an extremely expensive option because so much has to be built to bring it up to legal standard, such as the laying of sewage pipes.
At the end of the day, it is obvious that the site, if built here, will not be used, so the eye-watering sums Cheshire East plan to spend on it – plus the £1.9m already spent – is an obscene waste that the borough can ill afford.
If you didn’t manage to attend, but want to show your support for our campaign, please sign our petition.

Anyone in Cheshire East can sign, so please ask your friends to support us too.

There has been some misleading information put out by Cheshire East Council about Roadworks in Middlewich. They publicised that both Croxton Lane and Lewin Street would be closed for 18 weeks from the 19th August. This information is totally incorrect. I have spent an hour on the phone to Cheshire East Highways Team this morning to get to the bottom of this.
The 18 weeks is just the period of time in which both lots of roadworks will happen. They will not be done at the same... time and will not be for long periods of time. I have still not managed to get all the information I want on this yet and have been promised a phonemail back from the person who actually commissioned these works. As soon as I have more information I will update everyone.
Thanks Cllr Jonathan Parry

Yesterday (Tuesday 7th August), at a special meeting of Cabinet of Cheshire East Council, they discussed the second stage of the Cheshire East Local Plan ( SADPD). This document highlights Cledford Lane as the only option for a traveller transit site in Cheshire East. Cllr Jonathan Parry Spoke strongly at the meeting highlighting numerous reasons why this site is totally unsuitable, also Jonathan and Cllr Carol Bulman submitted a full report to all Cabinet members on Cledford... Lane going into a lot of detail about the unsuitability of the site and how it doesn’t conform to the Local Government Good Practice Guide on Traveller Sites.
This meeting was positive for Middlewich as the Cabinet stated that Cledford Lane is not set in stone and that the SADPD will now go out to public consultation. This will be an opportunity for everyone to have their say and make Cheshire East Council listen to the people of Middlewich. We are in the process of finding out the details of the Consultation so we can publicise it in the town to ensure as many quality responses as possible.
We are fighting for Middlewich here and this will be a tough campaign. We need to make our voices heard by Cheshire East Council.
