About Milkmaid Folk Club

The Milkmaid Folk Club is based In Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and is part of The Milkmaid Folk Arts Centre Community Interest Company. Open on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.

Milkmaid Folk Club Description

The main Milkmaid base is at the Constitutional Club in Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds. There are two Guest nights each month there, including many very well know performers such as Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick, Peggy Seager, The Demon Barbers, Fairport Convention acoustic, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and Sam Carter.

We also work with the Apex, which is a wonderful large capacity venue in Bury St Edmunds. This enables us to present artists such as Show of Hands, Dervish, Lau, Fairport Convention, Spire & Boden, Cara Dillon & Karine Polwart.

In addition to guest nights, we have a thriving 'local artist' community. We have both 'Unplugged' nights and nights with a full PA system. If you'd like to take part in one of these evenings, please contact Brian at folkwaller@yahoo. co. uk
All of the support artists for our Guest nights are chosen from performers we hear first at one of these 'local artist' nights. We're always delighted to welcome new performers.

Tonight at The Milkmaid, from Yorkshire, the wonderful Plumhall, ably supported by our old friend David Black. Whether you're celebrating still being in the EU, or sulkiing because we've not left, we'd still love to see you. What better place to be on a miserable November evening! https://www.plumhall.co.uk/HOME.html
