Yesterday was a hot one in the workshop. Didn't stop our students putting the graft in!

User

Free Learning is a period in our Business Course, when students can tackle their own projects and go wild with fabric choice. Lucy has completed the first two of these 3 projects during her free learning. The last of the three pictures is Lucy's Module 6 on the Business Course, which is The Cocktail Chair. We love the use of this beautiful Clarke & Clarke fabric combined with blue velvet! Well done Lucy!

What a great set up. We did a dressing table stool weekend as a Christmas gift to one another. We are fans of Money for Nothing and having both lost our jobs in 2016 are trying to make a living UpCycling furniture. We have decorated items with wallpaper before and my husband used to baize snooker tables years ago but this was the first time either of us had upholstered any furniture from scratch. The course supplied everything except your choice of fabric and we are both blown away with the results. Anthony Devine and Suzie are great teachers and have been working these courses long enough for it to be perfected. They are informal but informative, each stage broken down into memorable chunks, we weren't rushed or overloaded with information. They kept us right but we did 99% ourselves and help was there whenever you asked. We never felt uncomfortable to ask them to repeat an instruction if we were unsure. At the same time everyone chatted throughout the 2 days, we got some interesting behind the scenes stories about the TV show and some invaluable hints and tips on what to do and what not to. Whether you are wanting a career change or just enough skills to redo Grandma's old footstool then this course is for you. We have come away with 2 amazing stools, a wealth of knowledge and some very competitively priced tools of the trade from the Ministry of Upholstery 's online shop. There is a returning customer discount and out of our group of 8 people more than half were intending doing another. That has to show you how good we all agreed it was.

And Anthony? Yes, he's class!

Took my teenage daughter to the weekend footstool course. It was an amazing experience, being creative with Annie Sloan paint and being guided very expertly, through each stage of making her footstool. Anthony and Susie are just the best tutors, with lots of experience and very skilled. The course was such fun and my daughter left with lots of confidence and very proud of her achievement. If you are thinking about doing the course, think no more, just book your place, you'll have a fabulous experience.

User

Loved every minute of the course. Step by step tuition in a warm and welcoming environment. Very pleased with my footstool and can’t wait to try another project.

User

Just returned south with my beautiful hand crafted footstool ( and a compressor!) - it was well worth the journey

Well run and inspiring - Anthony and Susie help you with every step, ensuring you come away with a product you are proud of. Love the modern, contemporary twist they bring to upholstery. Tea, chocolate biscuits, music and banter plentiful whilst you work - totally brilliant!

User

Just had a fab weekend on the Mid Century Stool course. Being a complete beginner I was a little apprehensive but, Anthony & Susie were so friendly and put me completely at ease. Anthony is a brilliant teacher, guiding you all the way but, allowing you to complete things yourself & is very generous with both his time & knowledge. It's a great learning environment with music, lots of laughs and tea, coffee & cakes along the way! Don't hesitate if you're thinking of booking a course, I can't wait to go back & try another one.

User

Just completed a weekend of painting with Susie... it was amazing... she is so talented and inspirational... I have learnt so much and feel confident to tackle a pine wardrobe and dressing table.... I am so excited with my new skills and can't wait to take on other projects including a chequerboard effect garage floor.... this is the second course I have done.. I made a footstool earlier this year... I am now booked on a 4 day course to make a headboard and an ottoman (may need more time)... I would recommend both the paint and upholstery courses to anybody... you arrive 'clueless' and leave an 'expert' .... give it a go, you never know where it'll take you in the future..

User

Just attended a weekend footstool course, it was brilliant. Anthony and Susie were excellent teachers and everything was really well explained. They were also quite happy to explain it again if you didn't quite get it first time. I have come home with a footstool I am extremely proud of, not that anyone is allowed to use it it's too nice to put feet on. I enjoyed it so much I have already booked another course.

User

It's Sunday evening & yet I have the Friday sense of achievement as I sip what feels like a well deserved glass of wine I'm chuffed to bits with my mid-century stool & the chilled but productive & creative weekend I've just had. I'll be back

User

If you’re looking for a new skill which you can learn in a light, bright and tidy environment then the MoU is exactly what you need! Susie and Anthony are a credit to what they’ve achieved and have developed a friendly, relaxed arena for all things upholstery which results in an incredibly enjoyable, all round creative experience. All elements of the weekend footstool course were delivered in such a manner that allowed you to understand each part of the process literally step by step... can’t recommend enough this very professional set up! Well done MoU... already planning when I can fit in another course around my own work commitments!

User

I'm doing the business course and loving it !!

A fab place to be, full of inspiring people all living their dream !!

I was given a contemporary stool course as a birthday gift from my best friend. We both had a brilliant time. Anthony’s instruction was clear and easy to follow and meant we took away stools to be proud of that we will use for years to come. A great present and a lovely memorable weekend. Thank you

I have just completed a weekend footstool course and couldn't be more pleased! I loved every minute of it. The course was well structured and informative whilst being relaxed and enjoyable. The tutors were expert in their knowledge of upholstery and paint techniques and made the whole process seem easy. The result was fantastic, I have brought home a gorgeous footstool which I am very proud of and will definitely be retuning to Ministry of Upholstery for another course.

User

I have just attended a weekend footstool course and loved it! Antony and Susie are relaxed but very professional tutors. The atmosphere was convivial but industrious, with lots of laughter. I was impressed by the attention to detail and conscientious approach to health and safety. No one was make to feel stupid when something went wrong and both tutors were very patient. Everyone went away with a very professional looking footstool and a lot of new skills. I have already booked my next course, which I was very pleased to discover can be completed in a very flexible way - over four consecutive days or split over 2, 3 or 4 weeks. I would definitely recommend the ministry.

User

I had the best weekend doing the footstool course with Susie and Anthony. Really inspiring and I've come away with so many ideas and projects that I want to get started with asap. It is always a pleasure to meet people who are so talented and love what they do! Highly recommend.

User

Great - will be back for more- Thank you for all the help and guidance . Loved the stool and so does everyone else.

User

Every time I look our footstools, I can’t quite believe we made them, they’re fab! My hubbie and I made one each during a weekend course at the Ministry of Upholstery. Anthony and Susie are brilliant and knowledgeable teachers. Would highly recommend, the enjoyment and sense of achievement is immense. Don’t hesitate to do it too, you’ll not regret it!

User

Delivers in every way. Anthony is generous with his time and experience. He imparts knowledge and ideas constantly. You learn by doing, and by watching others develop their own chairs. Expect to mess up, try again and come out smiling every time. I loved meeting like-minded people and having a good laugh. (Top tip: the staple guns are not as terrifying as you think...! And bring biscuits.) I did the 6 week evening course and I'm just about to book my second...

User

Best course you will ever do!!! You will absolutely love it, don't think about it!!!! Just book it! :-)

Took me 40 years to find my forever career, and hope I can absorb all I can and make a success of this awesome craft
