About Nemesis Sukata
BJJ & Submission grappling taught by Black Belt, British ADCC and former IBJJF British, European, Pan Ams & World Masters Brown Belt Champion Chris Thompson.
Nemesis Sukata Description
At Nemesis we cover many aspects of Grappling, there is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Gi and Submission Wrestling. We are affiliated to ASW who are one of the oldest established Teams in the UK.
In the Gi classes we teach all aspects of sport jiu jitsu from throws and takedowns to submissions on the ground, there is also the chance to grade through the very tough belt system for those who last the course. With only four belts after the initial white one, it usually takes around a decade to achieve black belt.
Submission Wrestling is the purest form of grappling where all submissions are taught and the aim is to submit your opponent rather than score points for positions.
Your first two sessions are free as a taster to see if the sports are for you and after that we have a very competitive monthly payment fee.
There are spare Gis you can use in the gym for your first few sessions, (after that you will need to buy your own), and for the Sub Wrestling classes all you need is a tshirt and pair of shorts.
The timetable is in the albums section, with classes for kids and women only as well as the mixed Adult sessions but feel free to message us with any questions you may have.

Tough day for our kids coach Louise Thompson stepping up a weight division in the advanced No Gi but some close matches and a nice leg lock finish in the bronze match 👌
Really brave performance from our white belt junior Emmie-Lou Shire today who has been training around 9 months now.... she was thrown in against grey and black belts who were seasoned competitors and put in a great show to secure a bronze medal!

Great days work for Tom Bacon today at Grappling Industries... some real tough matches (9 in total) and some slick submissions and earnt himself a Silver in the stacked HW No Gi division!

What an amazing facility, I can honestly say that I’ve never felt more comfortable than I did stepping into Nemesis for the first time doing something completely new for me and not to mention a little scary! I’ve started doing the Women’s only class with Louise and I can honestly say she is an incredible coach. Patient, knowledgeable and just a fabulous fellow Goddess. My partner was amazing too, another gorgeous female Boss �� If you are thinking of taking up a form of self defence/fighting then I would highly recommend and think that all girls should definitely do it! Leave your ego at the door, stay humble and become the best version of yourself ��� Thanks guys!
Top facility and high level instructor and training partners. Chris is well regarded across the country for his grappling knowledge, and has backed up his knowledge with multiple accolades at the highest level. A great team lead by example from the top.
The coaches are absolutely fantastic, very knowledgable and great at what they do. Would recommend anyone to go have a roll no matter what discipline!
Starting anything new can difficult never mind a contact sport. Chris the Head Coach will put all your fears to rest with his enthusiastic style of teaching backed with a world class pedigree. There is a Great team spirit which you will quickly become part of, everyone is there to learn and share. I am a guy in my mid fifties who can 100 percent recommend Nemesis as a quality place of training for all your BJJ and grappling needs.

I've known Chris Thompson, the Nemesis head coach, for many years. So this review may be a little biased, however, I can honestly say that his approach to martial arts and especially grappling is honest and true.
If you are looking to learn grappling without all the B******T that comes from some sources, then Nemesis is a great place to be. A friendly and welcoming environment, clean mats and a depth of tested and proven knowledge awaits you at Nemesis.... the journey through Jiu Jitsu isn't easy, so having a guide like Chris is essential.
The medals on the walls speak for themselves. These aren't some local interclub medals, these are world level medals, earned by putting it on the line around the globe.
I dropped in just before xmas. Great little gym, very friendly and absolutely no ego's. The higher belts are more than happy to drill with anyone and help correct technique. The sessions are very easy to follow and well thought out. I have been in a lot of gyms when I travel and this one was great and 5 mins from me mum's place. I am only sorry I couldn't get back for a few more days (xmas.....). Highly recommended.
High level instructor on both domestic and international stage. Great atmosphere with everyone showing willingness to support one another. Good location with plenty of parking and easy to get too. 👍🏼
