I have had two total knee replacements and I could not be happier with the treatment I received from ALL the staff at

the Qaklands Hospital. Some of the staff really stood out with the personal care and treatment but it would be unfair to name them. Suffice it to say if I needed any more hospital treatment for any reason I hope its at the Oaklands.

I had surgery carried out by Mr F Webb to remove some metal work in my foot. From admission to discharged the staff were caring and very professional. I have complete trust in the skill of Mr Webb.

As a nurse myself I recognize good practice and this was demonstrated at every level.. Well done and thank you for you care and dedication

I had my gallbladder removed yesterday [15/06/17] and I have to say the whole experience was excellent. The anaesthetist's were absolutely lovely and took note on my fear of needles, keeping me talking and laughing right up until I went to sleep. My day nurse was wonderful as well, regularly checking on me and making sure I was comfortable - the surgeon also called past several times to check in and make sure I was recovering well and feeling okay. All in all I felt very safe and in good hands here, friendly and caring staff all round.

I had a knee replacement Thursday night under Mr Maxwell and was home Saturday afternoon. Mr Maxwell, the nurses and the Physios were all great and really looked after me although I believe I do owe the swear box rather a large amount in the recovery room. Anesthetic does weird things to me lol. The best hospital I have been in and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great care in nice surroundings.

User

User

I came in for a total hip replacement. I was put at ease from the minute I walked in. The staff were all very friendly n helpful. My surgeon Mr Battra was fantastic in explaining everything first. He met quite a few complications which he dealt with. The anaesthetist was great as I have a heart condition in giving me the best choice for my condition with longest pain relief after op. Nurses physio etc were great. So would recommend Oakland’s to anyone. Will be back for a new knee next.

Thanks to everyone there

Had my op yesterday and the hospital and staff were amazing. They couldn't do enough for me. Every single person who interacted with me was first class. Clean room, good food and great advice. Thank you.

User

Fantastic hospital in every way. Each and every one of the staff are lovely and caring. My consultant - Mr Maxwell - is the first in a very long line of consultants over many, many years of suffering with a sacroiliac joint problem to actually listen to me and not talk 'down' to me. I was made to feel so at ease at every stage of my day care procedure that I did not feel nervous - just confident in everyone. Would highly recommend this hospital.

User

5 star The staff from the minute you enter Oaklands till you leave are really happy and helpful. Putting you at ease the minute you walk through the door. They tell you who they are and what they are doing and what it's for. They all positive about their jobs it was a joy to be a patient and would defo recommend

User

Love attending here, friendly efficient staff, waiting times usually not long, treatment good.

Only one surprise today - the changes in policy for treating out patients with lots of questions, having to have a nurse present (for an ankle injection), then more questions & having to wait 5 minutes after the procedure to ensure you are OK.

Whilst I can see the reasoning behind the change, the questions are inappropriate for an OP, and relate more to someone undergoing day surgery. Perhaps they need to be reassessed?

I have attended numerous on occasions for this procedure which normally takes 5 minutes. Today it too 20 minutes - is that an efficient use of staff time?

User

I would have given 5 stars if it was based on the fantastic surgeon and nurses but I found the anaesthetic very traumatic and although I'm sure they acted professionally I felt they completely ignored the fact I was really distressed. If it wasn't for the kind nurse who stayed with me I would have been worse. It's not a complaint and I know I was stressed but I had mentioned at my preop about my fear of canulas and felt this wasn't addressed at all. They couldn't get it in and my hand was very sore. Still is. Stupid veins I know. Glad the nurse was there. Had surgery here before though and it was 5 star last time!
