The Studio is looking back to normal after Bakewell Wool Gathering at the weekend. We had a great show - thanks go to Carole and her team for organising such a lovely friendly event. Thanks also to Team PDY who helped me on the stall - Suzanne and Colette. You’re the best!

If you're heading to the Peak District this weekend for Bakewell Wool Gathering 2018, here's another opportunity for you to explore some local artisan crafts. Just head down the A6 to Buxton after you've finished in Bakewell :-)

The Peak District Yarns Studio in Tideswell will be closed on Saturday 13th October....as we're heading down the road to Bakewell Wool Gathering 2018 for the weekend! It's a lovely friendly event - do pop by and say hello if you're able to make it :-)

It's been so busy with customers in the Studio today, I've only gotten a fraction of my preparation for Bakewell Wool Gathering 2018 done. So, I'll be around tomorrow (Sunday 7th) between 10 and 2pm (possibly later!) if you're passing and want to pop in for a browse! Note that I'll be closed next Saturday (13th Oct) as I'll be down the road at Bakewell.

Do you have a sewing machine and know the basics but don’t know where to turn to make the next step? Is creating something unique for your home appealing? Would you like to be able to make your own scatter cushion?
Come along to the WizardMakes workshop at the Peak District Yarn Studio and spend time developing your sewing skills, and become confident to take the next step. We will make a zipped cushion cover, showing you a simple way to get zip into your cover. We will pro...vide a range of plain and patterned fabric for you to choose from. You can then either select a feather or fibre cushion pad. (Approx cushion size 45cm square.)
At the workshop we will use Janome machines from their current range. These have a speed control that allows you to grow in confidence from a steady stitcher to a fast, efficient seamstress. We will begin our class using these machines, but you are welcome to bring along your own serviced machine if you would like a bit of advice on how to use it. We will look at student machines during the afternoon tea break.

Maximum 6 participants per workshop. All materials are provided.
The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm and is held at the Peak District Yarns Studio and Workshop, Commercial Road, Tideswell, SK17 8NU. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or you can pop to one of the local cafes when we break for lunch.

Sorry it’s been a bit quiet on here for the past week. I’ve been up in Shetland taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Shetland Wool Week. I’m now fizzing with inspiration!

If you love colour and love yarn, then you’ll love this workshop from Peak District Yarns. You will learn how to read hand dyed yarns and how they look knitted up.
You will learn the basics of colour theory and how acid dyes work on different yarn bases. You will then design your perfect hand-dyed skein (choose either Merino DK or Merino Sock Yarn) and create it using a hand-painted technique using pre-mixed dyes. You will then see a demo of other dyeing techniques which ...you can try at home if you catch the yarn-dyeing bug!
One skein of yarn is included in the price of the workshop, but if you wish to dye a second skein you can purchase it on the day (£10).
Maximum 8 participants per workshop.
The workshop runs from 1pm to 4.30pm and is held at the Peak District Yarns Studio and Workshop, Commercial Road, Tideswell, SK17 8NU.

Ordered Saturday and it arrived today and I love it!!! Great service and beautiful yarn-what's not to like!

User

My favourite sock yarn. Beautiful colours and very soft. It also washes well and is very hard wearing. Used it to make several gifts which have always been well received. You don't need a complicated pattern with this yarn. Let the colours speak for themselves.

As a frequent holiday maker in the Peak District I was curious about how the translation into yarn would work. Well, "spot on" would be the description of my choice and "gorgeous" the overall title of yarn bases+creativity. I now own like 20 different colourways, have gifted a few, too, and all I hear are oohs and aahs
