The children will learn some painting techniques, such as stencilling and working with mixed media, to create the effect they are after.

Lily the Pink and I have been having some fun today, she is turning out to be a bit of a diva. There are funny little nooks and crannies to get the fabric into and round.
It’s all good fun though and quiet an experience in thinking through the upholstery process.
Oh well, those thoughts are now for next week, enjoy the weekend!

These fantastic bottles have been painted with Frenchic chalk paint by Emily at The Barclay Pizza & Prosecco in Royton
She has used Plum Pudding, Hots as Mustard and Anguilla to create these unique table decorations and advertise the deli options they have on their menu.

My little shop looking lovely in the sunshine.
I’m looking at increasing the foliage on the shop front, as is Shelby next door at the coffee shop. New signage too might be in order. What do you think?

The lovely and brilliant writer Judith Kerr passed away today, it was news that made us sad.
Judith Kerr’s stories have been a part of my life from way back when ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ was written, to more recent times when I read the same stories to my daughter; Phoebe thought for many years that the story was about a little girl called Phoebe and her mummy! It was our imaginary story of the everyday meeting the extraordinary.
I cannot finish without mentioning Mog. We... have a large collection of well read stories concerning the daily life of this often confused cat. Her adventures made us laugh and on occasion cry, indeed some of her exploits even followed us into everyday life, dare I mention the V.E.T.?
Farewell Judith, perhaps where ever you are now, there will be an egg for breakfast?

Today was a successful day. 💯
My client Julie completed a mini project which we were doing alongside her major project of completely revamping a pair of Louis style chairs. These two little picture frames are charity shop finds, repainted with Frenchic chalk paint and finished with Frensheen and ballet pump pink ribbon.... 🎀 The frames now contain miniature works of art, snaffled from the fabulous fabric she is using in her freshly decorated bedroom.
... Julie is chuffed with her handiwork and now she’s really beginning to feel the thrill of how she’s going to feel when the chairs are finished!

We are all about the making at Pernickety Studio and it’s amazing to be able to begin to share some of the work of other creative people with you.
@rachelirvingart (Instagram) is well worth a look at. Rachel’s mini works of art have a vintage feel to them, probably due to the reclaimed fabrics and embroidery techniques which she uses to create her unique designs.
