Physio Focus Pilates is a core strengthening and postural class led by a chartered Physiotherapist. The class is suitable for all adults regardless of ability, whether recovering from an injury, suffering with a chronic condition such as lower back pain or whether its just to increase and maintain core strength, Pilates is the class for you. Pilates promotes good posture and can be useful in easing and preventing aches and pains. By attending a physio-led Pilates class you can be assured that exercises will be performed safely, effectively and at the appropriate level.


My name is Jo Fawcett and I am a senior chartered physiotherapist working part time in the private sector for a company called Metro Physio, along with working in the NHS. In the NHS I have two roles; one being a band 7 musculoskeletal specialist and the other a Band 8a ESP (Extended Scope Practitioner) in the Orthopaedic clinics. I have worked in the NHS for 12 years and in the private sector for 10 years.

I maintain my continuing professional development by attending regular courses and as a result I am trained in acupuncture (registered member of AACP), Pilates and I am qualified to administer corticosteroid and local anaesthetic injections. I have also just completed the first year (PG certificate) in the MSc Trauma and Orthopaedics programme at the University of Salford. Prior to Physiotherapy I have an extensive background in teaching dance.

Why Pilates? …. . . As a sufferer of spinal pain myself I have found that this low impact form of exercise has helped me to strengthen my deep core muscles in order for me to continue to perform the physical aspect of my job.
