Wow, wow,wow...we have just had the best time in your beautiful part of the country and we truly loved our 'Eskdale Belle' experience. The staff of Ravenglass and Dalegarth are the friendliest, most welcoming folk we have ever met. Made us feel special...thank you! Our private coach with prosecco & strawbs was a delight and the journey soooo scenic every inch of the way. Lunch was very yummy. Totally recommend the 'Yorkie Pud' with perhaps a walk to the magical Dalegarth Falls before dessert. We truly can't wait to visit again...one day! Fond memories of a fine day.

User

Would just like to say a massive thanks to the staff at Ravenglass and Eskdale railway our train was cancelled back to Barrow and we would of been stuck there for two hours waiting for a coach and a two hour journey to Barrow meaning we would of got back to Barrow at ten pm not ideal with a 16 month old baby so the staff drove six of us to Millom in there own cars to catch the train so thankyou once again the Loudon and Snaith family's .

User

We were given a trip on the railway and afternoon tea as a gift. Brilliant idea. When we left Ravenglass it was raining, it didn't spoil the trip at all especially as we shared a carriage with a lady who worked in the cafe at Dalegarth. She gave us all sorts of information and was very friendly. On our return to Ravenglass we had our afternoon tea which was delicious. The strawberries were the largest and sweetest I have ever had. We went to the engineering workshop and much to our surprise were invited in for a closer look - amazing and the volunteers so knowledgeable. Would highly recommend visiting.

User

We visited the Ravenglass railway yesterday and what a wonderful day we had. We started off by having lunch at the platform 1 cafe which was lovely and very filling, I had the cheese and onion panini and my husband had the Cumberland sausage baguette with cheese. After lunch we hopped on the train which was a lovely and picturesque experience, I would recommend it to everyone. When we arrived at the other end (Dalegarth)we had a lovely cup of tea and waited for the next train back to Ravenglass. The guard on this journey was very informative and was able to answer all my husbands questions, which made the journey back very memorable. Thankyou for a lovely day out ❤️

User

We had a terrific day on the RER with our Eskdale Belle experience. We were greeted by a friendly member of the team who handed us our travel tickets and meal vouchers and explained what our day would consist of. Staff at both ends of the line were polite and helpful and the private hire of the carriage with a notice stuck to the door telling all and sundry who we were made us feel like real VIP's for the day. PLUS the best weather to see the beautiful scenery in, all in all a fabulous day.

User

There is something magical about steam trains no matter what size they are. These little engines are amazing and you can see the pride the volunteers take in them as they are immaculate. The scenery is breathtaking and the variety of wildlife we saw was brilliant. An excellent day out enjoyed by the whole family.

User

Such a beautiful and refreshing experience. The staff was helpful and friendly. Enjoyed every minute of it with my family ... lovely fish and chips on the the other side / Ravenglass ... completely worth it.

User

My only regret was not boarding a train at Barrow In Furness.

The coast road to Ravenglass is tortuous but the trip to Dalgarth was excellent. A quiet stroll to the Boot in for lunch completed the day.

The little engines were so clean and the staff so helpful, what more could you ask for.

Great little museum telling the story of the Ratty was very well laid out.

User

Had been looking forward to riding on this route having followed the Facebook page for a while. We were thrilled to be hauled by Whillan Beck the beautiful train from Spain to Ravenglass and fabulous Northern Rock back to Dalegarth. Both cafes were nice with all staff friendly and helpful. Toilets clean. Nice little play area at Dalegarth end too. We all enjoyed our day out. Oh and the WiFi worked fine!

User

Had a fabulous day and the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. We had a lovely chat with the staff working in the engine house and were sad to hear about the fire a few years ago but were delighted to see one of the locos was ready to go back into service thanks to their hard work. My husband is a steam train fanatic and we travel the UK visiting restored lines and this was definitely a favourite.

User

Great little trip on a lovely train in beautiful surroundings! Took the diesel train from Dalgarth to Ravenglass and steam train for journey back. We took our two dogs who loved it too, especially the little bag of doggy treats which were included in their ticket price. Had a lovely walk around the nearby river to Gill Force too and enjoyed a thoroughly lovely day out!

User

Great day out, lovely weather. Not been on la'al ratty for about ten years, still as good now as it was then. Only thing I missed was that there are now now pig goes in the woods 😎

User

Great day out from the beautiful coast at Ravenglass to the relaxing setting of Dalegarth.

This railway is a little gem with great staff and fantastic rolling stock

museum gives an insight to the history of the line , then a beautiful ride up to lunch at the pubs in Dalegarth great day out for young and not so young but young at heart

User

Fantastic....plenty of child friendly walks around Dalegarth and Boot. Two good pubs and plenty of benches if you fancy a pack lunch. The waterfall is a must. We enjoyed the little museum at Ravenglass station. We will be back.

User

Fantastic day. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful cream tea and then a lovely walk to st Catherine's church. Then a beer at brook inn and another at boot inn. Well worth the day out . Recommend to anyone. Hopefully return with the grandson.

User

Easy Pram access (single) lovely helpful staff, discount tickets to other attractions with receipt, beautiful views, the museum was small but brilliant gift shop was great! Cafe and free toilets the trains were so much fun my two boys loved it! We’ve had a fantastic time.

User

Amazing, relaxing, beautiful day out at the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway with my parents and young neice. We all had a fantastic day, the staff are lovely, the trains beautiful and everything is immaculate. Definitely recommend to people of all ages. Just a perfect day out. Thank you!

User

Absolutely fantastic day. Beautiful views. Fun for all the family. They also do an offer that if you bought tickets with their sister company Ullswater Steamers you get a voucher for half price tickets for the railway (I think you get a similar offer if you do the railway first)

User

A tremendously enjoyable day out. The trains are great and the landscape magnificent. We also did some walking in the area. We shall repeat the experience. May I also mention how pleasant everyone was and the extra touches such as the hanging baskets and the containers.
