User

Our weekly excursion for Saturday lunch brought me to the Red Cat. Under new management for only the last week so the new regime is just settling in.

Extremely warm welcome from the host. With our drink order taken in good time, while we were left to peruse the menu.

Good selection of starters and main courses and we opted for soup to start - home made broccoli and Stilton. Mum had lamb hot pot and I chose the chicken and mushroom stroganoff. All food delivered in good time, piping hot and tasty.

Couldn't fault it. We will be back!

User

My friend and i dropped in after a walk with our dogs. We've never been before but we were craving burger and chips. Best decision we ever made!! The cheeseburger was unbelievable....more like a steak than a burger, it was huge and so very, very tasty! The chips were homemade and delicious. The meal was served with salad and coleslaw and it was one if the best meals ive ever had. I had apple and walnut crumble for dessert (homemade) with cream and it was heavenly. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and provided a bowl of fresh water and a biscuit for the dogs. The Red Cat is my new 'go to' place for food. I cant wait for my next visit xx

User

My 2nd recent visit and my 3 friends 1st visit. All 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. The homemade steak n ale pie is fab...and served as it should be...piping hot chunks of steak in juicy gravy with a crust on top...best pub steak pie for miles!!! 10oz steak was also delish!! See you again very soon x

User

Just been redcat for my tea omg delicious. The slow cooked beef rib was amazing and the two girls serving were just lovely xx

User

I love this place... the food and drinks are really up to high standard. Graham, the manager, is a gentleman and always make sure me and the Mrs are having a good time. I have eaten there a few times and I will recommend it to my friends and bring my family when they visit from abroad... I am glad we came across this place a few years ago.

User

Great new menu, thoroughly enjoyed our meal and a big thank you to the staff.

User

We tried here as always looking for new places to visit, we had the American burger with bacon and cheese and the steak and onion wraps, cooked well and very tasty. Food was hot the burger excellent, steak was moist and tender very good. Thanks to jasmine making us welcome and running everything.

User

Had a family meal last night to celebrate a special birthday

The food was lovely we all chose a course meal , lovely atmosphere and friendly staff

Although we did have long waiting times in between courses being served .

Will visit again soon

User

Food was lovely made to feel very welcome but I think the staff need a little more training

User

Went with a large party of work mates and had to wait 45 mins for the starters to come out, when the meals where all pre ordered.Another long wait for the mains and the service was so slow. The food was below standard and items missing from most meals. All in all not the best experience

User

Went for the Valentine's menu which we booked a few weeks in advance, even had to pay a deposit and had pre ordered......need to say that the food was excellent but we were very disappointed at the lack of effort made for Valentine's day....felt like any other night. Candles on the table weren't lit, lighting was really bright, no special decor or particularly romantic music, nothing to signify it was Valentine's night. The service was slow, we had nearly drank our bottle of wine before starters arrived despite the fact we had pre ordered, had to prompt for each course. When the mains arrived they didnt seem complete so we asked if that was everything....two lonely scallops were served mid way into our main course with no explanation...neither if us knew who they were for?! Turns out I should've had black pudding and chorizo with my sea bass.....i just got the sea bass and a block of white mash (oh and a late scallop)! Shame as we couldn't fault the quality of the food that we received (although we didn't get all of it) but the experience was a real let down.

User

Visited this evening with family at 6.30pm. Restaurant was not busy, only two other tables in. It took 45minutes before our food arrived at the table. The food was okay, but nothing particularly special and not worth waiting that long for. Not sure if we will be back.

User

Not many in considering it was Sunday. Stood at the bar waiting to be spoken too, finally seated in a virtually empty dining room.

I ordered beefburger allegedly 8oz. It came on a dry bun with nothing else on it. Small salad garnish and small portion of sweet potato fries for an extra £1. Total £11. Not worth it.

Wife had ordered from classic pub menu which stated served with variety of veg etc so she ordered lamb hotpot which came in a small oval oven proof dish. It was cooked well but very small portion with a small bread roll. Child's portion.

Did point this out and said veg was on menu but was told not for the hotpot. Young waitress apologised and appreciated our polite complaint and said she would tell chef.

Won't be returnjng I'm afraid. Used to be good a few years back. Not now sorry to say.

User

I won't be rushing back there anytime soon. First the waitress comes back after ten minutes she took are order and said could we remind me what you ordered as I can't read what I have wrote.. Then to wait at least 45min for two starters had already asked could the see if they been put through. It got so long when again asked how long it would be she said 5to 10min . We said we was going to leave then are starters came. Then wait for the mains . In total a 1hr and45 min for two starters and 3 main and a side . When asked for bill she went get the card machine and was waiting to pay for ages . We got up and paid at the bar . Not even a discount and because all the drinks for all of us on top of the food the bill came to £75 quid . I am a chef of over 15 years experience never had such crap the food was lovely when it did come but be honest I could have eaten a scabby red cat I was that hungry.

User

Food was edible. Ok at best.

30 minutes for the starters to arrive.

Another 40 minutes after the starters for the mains to arrive.

£11 for a small chicken fillet. £11 for fatty gammon. Not even 1 potato worth of chips on each plate.

Wasnt a busy or peak time, arrived at 4.15pm.

Only get one day off per week. Ruined my Sunday. Not even an offer to discount the bill but seems like a regular occurrence reading the other reviews.

Me and my friends have been here tonight for a meal. My friend ordered chicken and mushroom pasta with was supposedly to be served with garlic bread and salad. When it came out I can’t describe what it looked like!Very dry and looked like it had the left over vegetables on the top followed by to slices of cheese. Everybody around us was complaining and people who had booked a table was turned away. When we went to pay the bill there wasn’t any apology considering they are new owners. Will not be recommending this to anybody.
