Start the weekend off right with a "sex on the beach"

HOW TO BOOK A GARDEN POD
Here's a little info! Basically our pods are an enclosed outdoor dining booth with seating around a central table. They are covered and protected from the elements, have lighting and a real flame gel fire for heat. Please check out our photos as they're kinda hard to describe!...
Our Grande pod will seat up to 14 for drinks, but if your group are dining due to the size of the table we recommend a maximum of 10 people.... And our baby pod will seat up to 7 for drinks, but again if dining we recommend a maximum of 5 people.
Perfect for that occasion when something that extra bit special is required. They are available to book in 3 hr slots. 1-4pm, 4.30-7.30pm & 8-11pm (Fri-Sun) Flexible 3hr slot starting from 5pm onwards (Wed/Thurs only) Due to popularity our pods need to be booked in advance and require a deposit to secure, which can either be paid in person or over the phone at time of booking. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment as some of the more popular slots are booked up 12 weeks in advance!
The deposit also acts as a minimum spend price and is £100 for the baby pod and £200 for the Grande pod, which at full dining capacity works out at just £20 per head. Eg: If you have booked the baby pod for dining and have paid £100 at time of booking and the final bill comes to £120 for all food and drink then all you need to pay on the night is the additional £20. If the final bill is less then £100 then there isn't any extra to pay on the night, but as the deposit acts as a minimum spend, no refunds will be made if the food and drink total is less than the required deposit. (cancelations less than 14 days prior will not be refunded)
If you would like to book please give us a call on 01457876191 during opening hrs (Wed/Fri from 5pm & Sat/Sun from 12 Noon) where someone will be happy to check the reservations for you. (please don't use Facebook messaging, as this isn't checked daily)

We’ve been here loads over the past few years.. Last night we went and celebrated my birthday and the new owners were LOVELY.. The nicest people you could ask to meet! Service and food was 5* - we couldn’t fault it one bit.

We had the pleasure of a evening here 8 of us in a pod would highly recommend it all staff are excellent from start to Finnish they can’t do enough for you make you feel so welcome will defiantly be going back .

We celebrated our anniversary in one of the restaurants special pods, and what a fantastic night we had! From the moment we stepped through the door, we were made to feel so welcome, by all the friendly staff, and the service and food could not have been better!! The food was fresh, hot and delicious with lovely cocktails and wine too. Thank you again to the two Pams and Dhilip (who are the lovely new owners) and also to our two great waiters Aaron and Alex, for all making our special night even more special. Great to have you in the village and we look forward to seeing you again soon to try out the new tasty menus :)

Visited the restaurant this evening for an early dinner. Lovely location, friendly staff and amazing food. Some lovely specials on aswell. The field mushroom with manchego cheese was lush and also the prawns with chilli and garlic. Definately be going back there again.

This Tapas bar is amazing.. The new owners are so welcoming and the friendliest folk I've ever came across.. The atmosphere is great and the food is cracking... The best bit was the home made idian food absolutely fabulous.

I will be recommending it to everyone..

Thank you for making our 1st wedding anniversary night out a great night.

We sat in the pod which was perfect. The food was amazing. Very tasty and we tried things we wouldn’t normally on the back of staff recommendations. (Male owner sorry forgot his name) he was great.



We have to say a massive thank you to Pam though. She made sure we had everything and kept checking on us and made us feel very welcome.



Cocktails were brill and the guy behind the bar even made us ones that weren’t on the menu!



Couldn’t do enough for us and we highly recommend and 100% will be back soon!

Recently taken over. Pam and family are making Rioja the place to be in Saddleworth. Great food, great service, super friendly staff. We love it. Not only that they don’t charge the Earth just because they are in Uppermill. Ged & Vicky.

Lovely place! Received such a warm welcome from a lady named Pam! The food was gorgeous and the whole atmosphere was beautiful! A lady called Alisha also made sure we had everything we needed and was very accommodating and friendly! 100% recommend this place, 5* all around <3

I've been coming to Rioja for a few years, usually with the girls and it's always been lovely. I went last night with the hubby and another couple. It was amazing. The new owners are fantastic. Genuinely friendly, lovely people. The food was spectacular too. 10/10 ��

First time to the Rioja tapas and what a lovely place from the minute we walked in to the minute we left greated by friendly staff and the new owner pam personally introduced herself waiters Alex and Aaron where great and helpful in making our first Tapas experince fab.. food was lovely battered prawns and koftas were my favourite meatballs and patata bravas next and the chocolate cheesecake was scrummy and a good choice of gins surroundings were stunning sat outside watching the widlife on the water below we came with a groupon deal but would DEFINATLEY come back thankyou love Roy and Jackie xx

Fabulous. The new owners could not do enough. Extra bread with the tapas. Attentive. Got us the best seats in the sun. Excellent. Would come again x x x

Came for lunch a couple for weeks ago with the girls, everything was absolutely spot on. Food was lovely (Indian salmon is delicious) all the dishes tasted fresh and all came in a timely manner. Waiting on staff were lovely and a pleasure to talk to. We were never without drinks and didn’t have to wait for anything. We also got to meet Pam the new owner who was a delight to speak with, nothing was too much trouble and she was so wonderful and attentive. Will definitely be back soon and couldn’t recommend enough.

Amazing! Everything about it was fab... the food, the staff, the atmosphere! I recommend everyone tries this place you will not go wrong! And I must say the most unusual and amazing dish was definitely the black pudding you must try it! I will be back!!

Was last here a few years ago hired a pod & the food & service was fantastic ,however went this evening with my daughter for Mother’s Day & was very very disappointed the food had no taste at all & the garlic mushroom sauce & chicken white wine was like tap water .The young waiter was very nice & apologised & knocked the 2 drinks we had off the bill ,but I definitely won’t be returning �

Poor service, ignored by waiting staff had to go find them at one point to find all 3 sat chatting playing on phones! Had to ask for Cutlery twice and still didn’t get a napkin. Dip forgotten with prawns,dip arrived 10 minutes later I asked for my battered prawns to be remade as they was cold. They came back 2 minutes later after been thrown back in the fryer on the same plate as sent back. Food was bland. Will not be returning! Really disappointing Visit.
