Quick update - our website will be down until this evening for some maintenance however we are still serving seriously tasty food and pulling award-winning beers throughout the day so pop down and join us!

The reason behind the success of this restaurant (aside from the delicious food & ales on offer) is the staff attention to detail, nothing was too much trouble for them. They were incredibly accommodating of myself, wife, 9 month old baby girl and choccy Labrador. Customer service is absolute key to continued success, and these guys are onto a winner!

Thank you for our lovely meal today it was delicious the roast was really good the staff were very friendly and helpful and the new look is fantastic we will be back very soon thanks again

On this occasion only called in to have a drink and to see the place after the refurbishment. Can't fault the drink and the new decor/ layout I think is very nice. Having been drinking/eating in the Sun for 30+ years on and off the food reputation from previous owners was excellent and new has a lot to live up to. I shall be going to eat at some point soon. I have to say when I was in on Sunday the roast dinners going past look mighty good 😊

Lunch today with my mum as a early birthday meal. I was blown away.. I haven't been in since you under went a refurbishment some time ago, but WOW amazing job done..!! The atmosphere was perfect, the staff.. so warm, welcoming & attentive, The home cooked food was outstanding..!! Best meal out in a very long time.. Thankyou all so much.. we will deffenatly be back..!!

First visit of the summer and the first since it's amazing renovation.

Food was delicious and a good choice of veg with the steak. The 3 for £10 bar snacks was a real winner with my husband. Kid's meal was a great size too.

Lovely outside area.

Staff were really friendly and happy in their work!

Will be there again next time we venture into Cheshire this summer.

Couldn't fault the place, we were a table of 8, attended to all of our dietary requirements, lovely roast, saw the biggest fish and chips on the next table ever, staff were brill and exceptionally accommodating, deffo be coming back, refurb is fab! 🌟 🌟

Came here for mother's day with my parents, partner and brother. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. I had messaged in advance about vegetarian options and they were super accommodating!! Will definitely be returning! Thanks for making the day special for my mum! �

Been a few times now, for a drink or a meal and always found the pub had a great atmosphere! Would highly recommend to anyone, as Stuart has created a friendly, comfortable scene with great staff and welcoming environment! P.S try the chorizo scotch eggs!

Annual family birthday outing, 2 adults and three children, lovely food, great atmosphere and a free pint of beer chucked in! Highly recommended, this is a great place for food, to drink and generally relax, helpful freindly staff, great service! Well done Rising Sun keep up the good work and thanks for the beer and great food!!!🍻🍻🍻

Absolutely the place to be in Tarporley for a drink great staff great atmosphere good selection of ales and larger, amazing food and the best quiz nite I've attended in any pub for a good long time on Sunday evening, definitely a top runner for best public house in Tarporley �

A lovely meal in the Rising Sun with my young family. My little girl left a muslin behind so I rang the next day to see if any chance it could be posted to us - such a small silly thing really but 2 days later my little girls face was a delight when it showed up in the post. Wish I’d snapped it to show you - thank you xxx

One starter was missed but that could have been our poor communication!!

The lamb shank was very nice indeed and the rest of the gang seemed pleased��

Came to Tarporley from Sheffield on a visit to Chester. Was staying at the Mcdonald portal golf and spa and popped into the village fot a meal and was recommended to come here as it had been recently refurbished and with a new menu. The food was lovely and the atmosphere spot on. If we ever return to Tarporley we will definitely eat her again.

You need to update the menu to include vegan options.

We often pop in Riser for a beverage or two so last night we decided to give the menu a go. The staff were very welcoming and although we hadn’t reserved a table they quickly found us one. We ordered a few dishes from the sharing menu, all were delicious. Hubby opted for the Smoked Haddock Risotto (delicious) I went for the Crispy Shredded Duck Salad. Very disappointed to say the least, the Duck was far from crispy nor had it been shredded, it clearly hadn’t been roasted it was in a cube form, wet and tasteless, more like a soggy bottomed duck then a roast duck. (certainly hadn’t seen an oven) I didn’t eat the meal, the waitress was apologetic, said the meal had been sent out “not to standard” the meal was deducted from the bill and we had a complementary drink. We won’t be eating there again.
