We'd like to give a big thanks to Max, Harry and George Jones, who all took part in this year's Great Manchester Mini Run and raised a fantastic £1,455.20! Max, who was born with Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome and has been a patient at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for 7 years, decided to run with his older brother Harry and younger brother George to help support other children at the hospital. Thank you and well done, boys! 💚

We’d like to give a huge thank you to our Corporate Partner Stagecoach Bus Manchester for their continued support!

We'd like to say a special thank you to fundraising superstar, ten-year-old Ella Chadwick! Ella has raised funds for us in the past through a number of fundraising ventures, but this year she decided to challenge herself even more.
After undergoing ten years of treatment at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for congenital nephrotic syndrome, a rare illness that causes kidney failure, Ella set herself the challenge of running 10k over the year at a series of children's running events - and recently donated a wonderful £505 to the charity.
She has had over 40 operations and a kidney transplant, and mobility problems meant that she struggled to stand or walk unaided until she was almost eight-years-old - but none of this has dampened her spirits or her bravery. Well done and thank you, Ella! 💚

Our annual Many Hands Campaign challenges businesses to show their support through the most innovative fundraising initiatives that they can – and the companies that are shortlisted at the end of the fundraising period are invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, including entrepreneur Theo Paphitis himself, in a bid to be crowned our Champion.
Business owner and charity ambassador Gary Chaplin has won the title twice now, and he’s sent us this video explaining how... his business has benefitted from the exposure and networking opportunities that being part of our Many Hands campaign can bring.
Thank you Gary, for your continued support!
If you'd like to find out more about our Many Hands competition, there's still time to enter - take a look at our website. We can't wait to see who'll be victorious this year!

Ava was just 2-years-old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
She underwent surgery here at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, followed by a number of debilitating cycles of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Little Ava spent the majority of eight months in hospital.
Ava was tumour-free for two years, but then the family received the devastating news that it had returned. The surgeon worked hard to remove it, but a scan following this second procedure showe...d that there was still a tiny sliver of tumour remaining in her brain
To ensure that Ava’s growth was removed completely, her family had to take her to another hospital, 60 miles from their home, to use their specialist iMRI equipment. This time, the surgery took half the time. Ava was able to go home just a week later.
Our iMRI Scanner Appeal will make a huge difference to children like Ava. It will mean that children don’t have to travel too far for treatment, that their surgery is as quick, accurate, and risk free as it can be, and that children are back home with their families much quicker, where they belong.
This is why Ava and her Mum Charlene are supporting our new iMRI Scanner Appeal – you can read their full story here: rmchcharity.org.uk/…/our-pat…/avas-st ory-imri-scanner-appeal

A huge thank you to Esme Fryer from Oldham, who has been treated on our Oncology Ward for leukaemia, and has recently been able to proudly ring the 'end of treatment' bell at her outpatient appointment! Her local church, Springhead Congregational Church, managed to raise a wonderful £2,270 as a thank you to Ward 84 for her care. Well done!

A big thank you to kind-hearted Dheyan who has raised an incredible £2,645 for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital!
Dheyan’s parents are long-time supporters of our charity and this year Dheyan wanted to take on a challenge himself to fundraise for the hospital, participating in the Mini Great Manchester Run in May!

10 year-old Josh has spent almost half of his life at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
When he was just two years old, Josh was diagnosed with both hydrocephalus and a rare type of non-cancerous brain tumour called pilocytic astrocytoma.
The tumour – which was the size of a golf ball – was located at the back of his brain and affected his balance and co-ordination. In the years since his diagnosis, Josh has had three major brain surgeries at Royal Manchester Children’s H...ospital.
Josh’s mum Lisa told us “It’s been a long haul, but we are very grateful just to have Josh. This new suite of equipment for brain surgery at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital will make the world of difference to children like Josh, and his own journey would have been very different had the hospital had an iMRI scanner then. It sounds amazing. Getting every last bit of a tumour out, first time, would take an incredible weight off parents’ minds and save our children going through one scary operation after another.’’
