We are looking for a midday catering assistant for our dining hall. Our caterers, Caterlink, have a vacancy and you would be employed via them.
It would be for 4 hours per day to support break and lunch time services.
If you are interested, please call us at school on 01270 560514 and ask to speak with Debbie Jones.
... Thank you, Mrs Brett

On Wednesday, the Sports’ Hall vibrated with the sounds of the boy band ‘The Shades’. The set included the group’s original songs as well as some popular covers. The boys also delivered a serious message about internet safety which was all the more thought-provoking as it was based on their own experiences. Afterwards , the band posed for photographs with their newly acquired fans!

My son decided this was the school for him when he was in year 5. Now 2 years later he has now started in Year 7. During this time I've got to know the school much better, I've become a Ruskin Parent Governor and can honestly say that this is a great school.

Big enough to have fantastic facilities but small enough so that every child counts. Whenever I've been in school the students have been extremely friendly and well mannered and are a credit to the school and their parents.

Cameron couldn't wait to start and I've every confidence that he made the right choice picking Ruskin as his high school.

With it's latest Ofsted Good school inspection in summer 2015 and a great leadership team in place this is definitely worth a visit if you're about to choose a high school for your child.

I loved my time at Ruskin, certainly better than Thomas Moore, Vicky High or Malbank!!

Great win atmosphere at school bingo 😋thankyou for lovel prizes and the lovely entertainment of pupil playing piano &singing what a talente 🖒❤

Finished in 2007, it looks so different now. Don't know if my review is relevant now. Most of the teachers that taught me have left.I do Miss, Mrs Hazelhurst's(Hamlett) classes a lot. Glad to see she and some other staff members are still here. Is a really good school overall.

User

Both of my daughters attended Ruskin and I could not be happier with the standard of education they received. Absolutely brilliant

User

Amazing school, glad my son is a part of it!

User

5 stars. Only applies if Mr Vitalis is still working there.

User

long live big v the man the myth the legend

User

The teachers are strict but fair like if you put effort into your work there nice but if you mess around you can easily get a detection

User

Was okay. Met some of my best mates there.

The education here is great, however the support that is given to the students who have anxiety/ panic issues, is none existent among the staff. There is no specific person to go to, to help these students, your just told to stand outside the room until you are somehow cured of all fears and given handout sheets to work from. If it wasn't for about three superb teachers who are no longer working here, I don't think I would have seen it to the end. I felt very let down overall as these issues need to be resolved as it can definitely have an impact on students education.

This school..is ok the staff and stupid rules is beyond me... my daughter has her ear pierced at the top of ear. none of the teachers saw it... because her hair covers it... now someone has told her teacher and says she's got to remove it or going to take u out of all the classes... If they decide to do this because she has to wait at least 12 weeks to for it to heal I will be having words.. when the pe teacher has her pierced.. rules for one and not another JOKE

User

This school focuses on the appearance more than the actual grades. The policy is amusing and the new year achievements manager mistaken my blonde highlights for my natural hair colour. Then they said don't re-dye it or stay off school just don't do it again- this clearly makes no sense as I had it for a week, at the time.

This review is in all fairness of both the school and the wellbeing of the pupil; not here to moan about things that don't matter so let's get down to it...

Education and classes - Nine times out of ten this school has a great variety in classes; such as practical work and written work being we'll organised and making sure the pupils are well education in basic skills and what they need. However, thinking about how close these pupils are to getting work I think there needs to be more towards the career training; like learning how to do a CV and interviewing!

Rules - Right....I understand you need a uniform and how that's supposed to create equality in the school... However! This is brought up WAY TOO MUCH amongst the staff and pupils... "Do your tie up right" "Sort out your top button" the thing is this will only stress the pupils out and you're creating a nasty toxic environment... You seriously need to pack it in otherwise you're going to create more problems with the pupils because you're being unreasonably...

Staff - Stop being cheap and buy some actually experienced staff who aren't nasty and will treat the pupils like children, you are told "you should treat those how you want to be treated" in that case actually have the decency to not talk down to the pupils and speak to them like actual adults...take a page from the colleges; like south Cheshire, it actually works guys...and they are kids...if you let them have some leeway then they will meet you half way. This was proven by the now-retired Mr Brewin... An amazing teacher...

Overall - Calm your efforts on behaviour and just treat them like adults; if they act up then just tell them to go... They are the ones losing out and you shouldn't waste half a lesson shouting...in fact you shouldn't be shouting at all... Because if it was me in a class being yelled at for someone else's mistake I'd take my work and work elsewhere and report you for bad teaching...

It's not hard Ruskin and I'm putting FULL responsibility on the head teacher as she is the one who changed alot around Ruskin... Experience what it's like in a class room more than one day a month and see how things go...
