What a find!! We randomly stopped off in Shap to break up a long drive and luckily came across Shap Chippy.

Beautiful fish in a light crispy batter and the tastiest chips I've had in a long time.

If you are after something wonderfully different try the halloumi fritters. Simply delicious!

Service with a smile.

Simply the best fish and chip shop in England, the fish and chips are to die for. The late Alfred Wainright was a regular here and with good reason, keep up the good work Shap chip shop, we will be back soon ’┐Į

Popped in on my long journey home from Birmingham. 7:50pm thought I was pushing my luck but the nice kind staff made me & Gemma lovely fresh chips. Thanks very much excellent service and food

Our half-way stopping point from Scotland to home. So happy we made the detour down the lovely A6 to come here.



From start to finish service was so friendly and happy from Dal and also the fish and chips we had (Inc the home made tartar sauce) were superb, fresh and tasty!



Will stop here every time xx

Live in the village and the local chippy is first - rate. You'd struggle to five better anywhere so fantastic to have on your door step. Great staff and even better food at excellent prices. We're regulars.

Hello girls in the fish shop at sharp it's John and Tim brings Tim's mum in during the caravan season about to arrive we put our new caravan up on the 13th of March and will be visiting you wonderful people again wonderful fish and chips but I must say the customer service and the staff is 101% looking forward to seeing you all again John Pattinson international medium

Driving up the M6 Feb2017.

Thankfully I didn't purchase food at Lancaster services &hung out until Shap keeping my fingers crossed that it was still open at 8pm. NOT DISAPPOINTED. Clean, bright cafe two chaps tucking into piping hot plates of fish & chips. Table service still available. Great! Pot of fresh tea with a wee churn of milk. Slice of lemon on the cod bites,tasty chips &a side of mushy peas. Great value. Friendly staff at counter & on table service.

Have visited at least twice before. Families welcome. Great community spirit. A real asset to Shap &to the British traveller.

Called into Shap Chippy on the way back from Penrith, and being a good northern lass was horrified to see no haddock on the menu, but got to say the cod, chips, scraps and mushy peas are without question the best we've ever eaten (haddock included) .... incredibly fresh fish, Shap Chippy lives up to the hype and is well worth a detour! If you want to eat In should defo book, we parked up down a country lane ... yummy!

Called in after walking in Longsleddale. Best decision of the day. Friendly staff. Prompt service. Quality fish and chips and a steaming pot of tea. Highly recommend. ’┐Į

Absolutely outstanding. The best fish and chips we have had in years. Went with my husband and our children, we ate in the restaurant and we couldn't of asked for anymore. The service was brilliant and the atmosphere was fantastic. We will definitely be making regular visits back here.

Don't know if it was that they were about to close but the cod was very greasy and the chips were overcooked. They had no potato in them. So not impressed at all.

Well I have to say that on my last ever visit to shap and only due to living temporary in the village I've got to say it was shocking.

Regular chips and fish bites were lacking in portion size. I would say approx 25 chips and small soggy fish bites which you could get better in Aldi!

┬Ż5 for a very small portion with mushy peas(which were the highlight I have to say).

Can't wait to get back to penrith where angel lane and townhead chippy are first rate. Sorry shap chippy but going down the pan
