I did a ceremony today for a man who had no mourners. It was strange delivering a service to just 2 attendees and those being officials with no links to the man. It is sad to think of someone dying and not being missed by someone somewhere! Moral of the story...look out for your neighbours, you may not know them well but they are part of our human family, just a good morning or even a nod to acknowledge them can make a difference.
This Month we delivered a bereavement support event in partnership with Cherry Blossom Funerals and Wigan Council. We aimed to encourage people to talk about their wishes for their own end of life and also to offer support to those who have lost someone dear to them.
whilst in France, I came across this graveyard with greenhouse-like structures to protect the graves.
Just back from a lovely 2 weeks in France which left me wondering....would there be a call for a humanist celebrant delivering a ceremony wholely in English...not sure my french runs to a full tribute in French!
An interesting theory on grief and how to help when someone is hurting. http://www.refugeingrief.com/2018/07/19/h elp-a-friend-video/
I come across a lot of poetry writing tributes for funerals. Some good, some not for me! I had the privilege of hearing Mike Garry reciting this poem he wrote for his mothers when she died. I think it's lovely, what do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_ispsfxR OQ
Finishing touches for a funeral in Blackburn today. Wildflower seed packets for the principle mourners
