Silsden Youth Council

Silsden Youth Council (SYC) is an official member of the British Youth Council (BYC).

Silsden Youth Council was formed in 2003 with the earliest recorded meeting being held on Tuesday 2nd September. It was originally formed by a combination of Silsden Town Council and representatives of Silsden and the local surrounding areas, youth population. The 1st meeting was held in Silsdens’ Council Chambers which is now the recently renovated Town Library, meaning that we have meetings at Silsden Methodist Church.

Since Silsden Youth Council was founded, they have participated in and funded a number of noteworthy things. These include the rocks and ramps at Silsden Park, the very large display of art for the Tour de France, helping out at the Silsden Gala each year and countless litter picks they have completed to keep their small town clean.
