Just visited this afternoon we went to sit upstairs found a table went to bar to find no staff member serving ... a young man came out and was delivering food to other customers he did say be with us shortly so was acknowledged, when he did manage to get back behind the bar i said are you the only one working he said unfortunately yes ... would just like to say given the circumstances his employers had put him in which was no fault of his he coped extremely well considering he had to do the work of at least 2 staff members ! Please make sure you pass on this compliment !

Called into Sir Henry Tates yesterday on a very cold day. Lovely and warm inside and we got a table straight away. Placed our order for the large breakfast!!! which came very quickly and looked really good. Got to admit the breakfast defeated me haha but it was really tasty. Kim who served us was pleasant and very polite. She is credit to you. Would recommend Sir Henry Tates to anyone.

All ways lots inside but not long to wait steak was delicious and the wine obviously oh and best of all the price

User

I love it in here, very good drinks prices and staff very friendly..Decent music as well for a Friday night.

User

Cheap and cheerful, surprised by Christmas pudding in April but at 99p including the custard how could you go wrong.

Went in for a steak on Tuesday to find that all the daily specials have been suspended for Burns Week -haggis based.

As I'm not keen on minced lungs with barley, oats and tallow however nicely presented, I was somewhat disappointed.

Yes, I know the other menu was there but a 'Spoons steak is my Tuesday treat.

User

Very busy place food lovely. Waiter had to wipe our table down. We got our own menu's before waiter came with them. We had to get our own sauces for our meal.

User

Popped in yesterday for a Sunday brunch, the service was quick but the food didn't taste right but I didn't want to make a fuss to the staff

Lunchtime - dirty tables, never wiped clean, food on them and sticky. Whilst there, we saw three sets of customers use a table but it was not wiped once. Disgusting.

Condiments were empty so my husband had to go in search of some. Seems all Wetherspoon pubs have a dirty table policy unfortunately. I find that disgusting and unhygienic. My bangers and mash were disappointing; mash not very hot, bangers not great and caramelised onion was a joke. Two tiny pieces of white onion under 2cm each and no taste of onion at all in the tiny amount of gravy. My husband enjoyed his gammon meal although we won’t be returning. Cleanliness is a must for me. If dirty tables are there to be seen, what goes on where we can’t see???😳

I went in last week at 6 after work,my friend stood at the bar upstairs for a good 20minutes,didn't get served, and to be fair the young girl serving a table of about 15 people did a good job.Went downstairs to be served and 2people ignored us,finally got served after 30minutes of being in the pub,Come on Tates get more staff and keep your customers happy

Disgusted by the lack of hygiene. Looks as though Wetherspoons no longer has a clean tables policy. The table my wife and I occupied was full of crumbs, it was sticky and had used napkins and stirrers left on it. Whilst there, we saw a table occupied by three different sets of customers but when each party left, the table was cleared but not wiped. This practice seems to be widespread amongst Wetherspoon pubs. We usually ask for the table to be wiped but there wasn't anyone around to ask. My meal was good but my wife had the bangers and mash with caramelised onion; the onion being two tiny bits each about 2cm long - if that - and hardly any gravy. Not even a flavour of onion. Very disappointing. We both often had the bangers and mash as it was really good, until it was removed from the menu, then when it was reinstated it had changed completely. Perhaps a change of supplier. Regardless, a Holts pub does far better food. Wetherspoons, get your act together and people will return.

Went with friends at 5pm last night. It wasnt busy but they messed up our order so we all ate at different times not together and the food was cold. We complained and was offered free drinks after we had finished the ones we had. We were told by the bar person that she would be back to take our order but she did not re-appear!

User

Not enough staff.

Long wait to get served.

Ordered a large breakfast took it forty minutes to arrive and when it did was cold and dried up.

I travel round the country usually using Weather-spoons as they are normally good. This was the worst I’ve had.

User

Wrong food received very poor service no customer service, nobody came and asked if the meal was ok. In fact very little staff available. Very disappointing.

We went in for breakfast yesterday. We only wanted breakfast, but did not get it as the girl behind the bar needs more training. My husband was told we could not have breakfast as there were only two people serving. So we left. On our way out I asked was there no one in the kitchen. I was told yes, I could see other people eating. I was told there had been a misunderstanding. I asked why did no one come and let us know. On that note we left. Just need to train people a lot more.

Seems like a common thing from what I've just read. More staff!! Christmas light switch on and there is 1 staff member behind the bar with a queue of 10. 1 hour for food to come with the wrong order. Ridiculous there needed to be more staff on. How can you have one staff upstairs when it is so busy this is the same whenever I come in. Pathetic. Sort it out as it's loosing custom due to people walking our due to poor service.

User

Im quite the lover of a good spoons lunch however recently I have noticed the overall quality going down. Today i purchased two cups of tea, both of which were barely warm, and two meals. My empire state burger was over cooked, hard, burnt, dry and chewy. The onion rings and chips were cold. Not impressed, hopefully you improve things before you loose anymore customers.
