Saturday is a rugby day!
Skipton’s first XV took on Rotherham Phoenix (and Storm Dennis) yesterday afternoon at Sandylands. Despite conceding the first score every man stood up to Phoenix and the weather to run out 22-7 winners at full time. Excellent result in exceptional conditions, well grafted one and all. Match Report - Old Brodleians Ladies 30 v Skipton Roses 15
Sunday saw the Skipton Roses take huge steps forward in their development as they travelled to Hipperholme to take on Old Brodleians Ladies. The Roses took 16 ladies and although they only played 11 a side, every player put a huge shift in. Both teams were only set up last April and are still developing but those watching were entertained to a great afternoon of rugby. The Roses kicked off and the first 10 minutes ...was spent in midfield with both teams stopping any attacking opportunity with fierce tackling. Both teams used the ball and from good hands and strong running Old Brods got themselves on the scoresheet. The Roses started to get some momentum, with good scrummaging and lineout and the last 10 minutes of the half saw the Roses score two tries. Summer Knight was the first to score, after the Roses took a ball against the head and shipped the ball down the line for Summer to force herself over in the corner. As the half finished debutant Hannah Sagar picked up a loose ball in the Brods 22 and ran in unopposed. Half time 10 to 5 Roses.
Old Brods kicked off the second half and again the first 5 minutes was in midfield, both sets of forwards carried well and when the opportunity arose, they put the ball through hands. As the half progressed Old Brods hit a purple patched and were able to take the lead with using the ball in hands, support and finding the gaps. The Roses battled hard and their was some solid tackling from Jess Burns, Hannah Fearnley, Adele Boocock and Shannon Beresford and some strong carries from Rachel Cleminson, Vicki Parker, Sarah Stryker-Diamond and Amy Wild. As the game drew to a close, debutant Nicola Marklew came on and within minutes showed her pace, when she chased a kick through and was able to gather the bouncing ball and score.
Captain on the day Liv Schepisi had a great game and lead from the front. But the joint “Woman of the Match” goes to Kirsty Weir, who had a fine performance at scrum half and Jennie Hoggatt, who carried strong, made some tremendous tackles and was an excellent voice at No8.

Saturday is a Rugby Day!
What a come back for 1st XV today at Sandylands against Sheffield Medics. The wind was in full force and the boys were again ready for a fight and for a big win on home turf. The boys gave it their all for the full 90 minutes and despite the unfortunate loss of the captain due to injury, the scoreboard read 41-0 as the final whistle blew! A brilliant result on home turf. Photos from today's game below, it was a pleasure to snap them today gents.
A m...assive thank you to Sheffield Medics for making the journey up today, and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
Our 2nd XV made the short journey to West Park Leeds. With only 10 men, the Mighty Two's were winning at half time. The hosts managed to gain the lead in the second half and the final score was 50-35 to West Park. For a team of only 10 lads, that is a FANTASTIC result. The 2’s are at home, hosting Guisborough, while the 1st's are away at Knottingley.
Finally, The Skipton Roses are set to take on Old Brod's Ladies tomorrow at Hipperholme. Best of luck girlies, show them what you're made of!🌹🌹
Thanks to all who are still doing everything to support our #ThisIsLuke campaign. Don't forget to get your tickets for the Skipton RFC vs. HMS Prince of Wales Charity match on the 29th February before they sell out. This is a ticket only event. HMS Prince of Wales are also holding a Black Tie Dinner in support of #ThisIsLuke.

Saturday is a Rugby Day💪🏼
1st XV travelled to Bradford to play Wibsey RUFC this afternoon. Despite the cold, 19 men showed up ready to fight for a big Skipton win. A strong first half gave Wibsey Rufc an early lead, and as the final whistle blew, the score read 47-0 to the hosts. A fantastic effort as always and thank you to all who travelled today. Photos from today’s game below.
Meanwhile, 2nd XV hosted Cleckheaton at Sandylands. Spirits were high and thanks to some great ...pep talks throughout the week, the Mighty Brotherhood were too ready for a fight for the win on home turf. The final score was 5-42 and Cleckheaton took home the win.
Although Skipton suffered two loses today, our boys held their heads high as they walked off both pitches knowing they stuck together as a team and club❤️
No game for the 1st’s next week, they are set to welcome Sheffield Medic’s at home on the 1st February. The 2’s are due to travel to York next week for their next fixture.
HUGE thank you for the continued support and fundraising efforts across the country this week for Luke and his family. Let’s keep going to smash our new target of £100,000🎉🎊

#ThisisLuke
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.
Luke, the family, Skipton RFC and myself would like to express our most sincere thanks for the wonderful support each individual, company, school, organisation, rugby club and the professional rugby and sporting world has shown for Luke, not only locally and nationally but internationally. The outpouring of generosity and well wishes is overwhelming and there are no words which can be expressed that could explain how this has... positively effected Luke and the family.
We will continue our efforts as long as it is needed, so that Luke, Adam, Christine and Harry have a wonderful future and they go on to continue their lives as normal as can be giving the difficult situation they found themselves in.
With regards an update, Luke is still in hospital and his family are by his bedside. Luke has already started his rehabilitation, and his fighting spirit is inspirational. Their family network is strong and with the support the nation has shown, they are coping as best any family could in such difficult times. They do still ask that people respect their right to privacy at this time.
We have set up a dedicated Facebook page Thisisluke and we kindly asked that your continued support and messages are directed to that page, which has a committed team of volunteers, who will do there utmost to respond to all messages and will keep you all updated with Luke’s progress on his road to recovery.
Finally from all those that sent private messages, thank you and we will personally get back to you over the coming weeks. We could never have imagined the overwhelming response.
Thank you and #ThisIsLuke
