SKK Judo Club 2009
In 2002 SKK Judo Club secured funding through the British Judo Association from Sport England to the tune of £800, 000.
Demolition on the old club began in November 2005.

In June 2006, the new state of the art facility opened which boasts the
following:
● 340 sq. metres tatami on a sprung floor
● Two 7 x 7m contest areas plus safety area
● Weight training facility
● First aid / physio room
● Office
● Kitchen
● Viewing area
● Male and female showering / changing rooms and toilets
● Wireless Broadband WiFi

In addition, the new club has the latest in technology with plasma screens built-in above both contest areas with DVD, video and camera links for technical and performance analysis as well as information screens around the reception area informing members of the latest news and up and coming events etc

The club has purchased Silicon Coach Pro as its
Technical Analysis Software
With the new facility, the club has been restructured with the introduction of a Performance Plan that details the structure of the club from Beginner to World Class, which ties into the GB World Class Performance Plan. In essence, when a talented Judo player starts Judo in anyone of our Feeder Clubs then SKK has the infrastructure both in facility and coaching expertise to ensure they achieve their full potential.

We have in a place a system to take young players from grass roots to World Class should they have the potential to achieve at the highest level or whether they just want to achieve their Black Belt; the SKK Performance Pathway will take them through the system as below:

Feeder Clubs
We have 3 Feeder Clubs set up in and around the areas of SKK Judo Club where Beginners Classes take place. Here, the first session is Free and from then on in, members pay in advance on a 6-week basis. The aim of all of our Feeder Clubs is to provide a positive introduction to the sport of Judo where the basics of the sport will be coached. The Feeder Clubs operate on a 12-week repetitive programme where techniques are repeated. Each child will receive an information pack on their second visit to the club detailing all the techniques and Japanese Terminology they will learn. When ready, the coach will recommend that the player moves on to the next level and this is when they move on to SKK Judo Club to the Intermediate Class and two sessions a week.

Intermediate Class
When a player has been moved on from their Feeder Club it is at this stage when they make a bigger commitment to their Judo. They are expected to attend two sessions per week and the training will be aimed at developing them in the sport for long-term enjoyment and success.
It is at this stage that they will be introduced to competitions at the appropriate level and will be graded to move up in their coloured belts.
Again, when technically and physically ready, the coach will move the player up to the next class.

Advanced Class
At the advanced class, training continues to be twice a week until 14 years of age where they are expected to attended the weekly Senior class for an introduction to armlocks and strangles and individual coaching.

The players on the advanced class are selected for competitions in and around the UK and Europe and an emphasis is aimed at qualifying players for the GB World Start Class programme. Also, players will regularly attend gradings within the area and move up their coloured belts.

SKK Squad Sessions
On a monthly basis, as a club, we organise 'squad sessions' where players are selected for extra training - usually on a Saturdays. The Squad sessions involve physical training /fitness testing, educational workshops with a dietician /sports psychologist etc and technical training with video feedback. Only the most committed players are selected for the monthly squad sessions.

As players move up the Performance Pathway and the GB Rankings, we provide more individual support in terms of annual competition /training plans, daily training programmes and individual coaching etc.
SKK Judo Club is committed to providing the best support in order to achieve at the highest level.

JUDO is a great sport for developing strength and fitness, the athletic A, B, C's -agility, balance and co-ordination, self discipline and confidence.

At SKK Judo Club, whether you want to be a champion or just enjoy the sport and achieve Black Belt status, we have the infrastructure and coaching expertise to help you achieve your goals in a FUN and FRIENDLY environment.

SKK Judo Club is a professional organisation, which has one of the best facilities for Judo in the UK. We welcome all participants whatever culture, colour or religion and by joining SKK, you will have a positive experience in the sport of Judo.
