Just about to get stuck into a huge balloon order, so sadly there's no neverending waffle today about this weeks new movies to pollute your Facebook feeds!
However... FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD is out this week, as too is the superb ensemble thriller WIDOWS, which features Liam Neeson and Viola Davis.
There are still copies available for rental / reservation, but come midday they will probably be all gone, so don't delay and DM, email or phone us (334-4312)....
Also out this week we have Paul Dano's new movie WILDLIFE, Robert Pattinson stars in the western DAMSEL, while Kelly Brook (remember her?) stars in the cheap and cheesy horror film BLACK MAGIC. Having said that, if you want a GOOD scarefest then look no further than DEVIL'S DOORWAY. Surely a contender for best indie horror of 2019.
We're open till 8:00pm today, so come and have a look through the thousands of films that we have that you'll NEVER see on Netflix, Amazon Prime or Sky Store. Try it, and discover the movie-lovers paradise that's not just right round the corner from your house, but it's also one of the last locations in the world to have such a diverse range of rentable films.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is still going strong this week, with every copy out each night. Remember though, if you let us know early enough, we're always happy to reserve one for you.
As for this weeks newbies, we have a couple of family films - which is unusual during term time. First up is THE GRINCH which of course tells the story of a cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl's generous holiday spirit. Come celebrate t...he festive season.... in March!
The other small person friendly movie is Disney's NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS where a young girl is transported into a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice!
Both of these are available to rent now at the frankly insulting price of ONE POUND!
For the grown ups, perhaps you might fancy a little genetically mutated Nazi super-soldier based action? With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that’s crucial to the invasion's success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen. OVERLORD is out now!
The best of the rest this week include PETERLOO, an epic portrayal of the events surrounding the infamous 1819 Peterloo Massacre, where a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St Peter's Field in Manchester turned into one of the bloodiest and most notorious episodes in British history. A film with a message that still resonates to this day.
We also have SLAUGHTERHOUSE RULEZ with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, where at an elite boarding school where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness, they’re about to meet their match. This ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally – when a controversial frack site on prize school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole and an unspeakable horror is unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as pupils, teachers and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.
Open 'til 8:00pm tonight, come and have a browse around one of the last video shops left in the UK, while telling your kids that not everything that's new is always better 😁

AYYYYYYYY-OH... 🎤
Yes, it's here! As it heads rapidly towards one billion dollars at the worldwide box office, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is finally out on DVD.
Telling the story of the legendary rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid (1985), this critically savaged biopic has actually been our fastest renting title since THE GREATEST SHOWMAN. You might not get your hands on it today, but remember we will happily reserve a m...ovie for you for the night you want it!
Also this week we have a new Nicolas Cage film! No, wait... don't go... Cage plays a down-on-his-luck truck driver called Joe who is haunted by the memory of his deceased wife and child. When Joe meets Julie (Franka Potente, Taboo), a spiritually gifted woman who enlists him in a desperate effort to find the lost soul of her comatose daughter, Billie (Penelope Mitchell, Hellboy). But the spirit of Joe's dead wife Mary proves stronger, possessing the young woman's body and determined to settle her unfinished business with the living. BETWEEN WORLDS is out now... and after five days in-store, you could be the first person to rent it 🙃
Slightly more well-regarded, if a little controversial, is the new film from Lars Von Trier. THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT follows the highly intelligent Jack (Matt Dillon) over a span of 12 years and introduces the murders that define Jack s development as a serial killer. We experience the story from Jack s point of view, while he postulates each murder is an artwork in itself. As the inevitable police intervention is drawing nearer, he is taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork.
Alternatively, if you like very disturbing British horror, then maybe POSSUM is for you? It's a stylish, unique, dark and twisted tale from writer/director Matthew Holness which follows the story of a disgraced children's puppeteer who returns to his childhood home and is forced to confront his wicked stepfather and the secrets that have tortured him his entire life. The film features compelling performances from Sean Harris and Alun Armstrong and features original music by the Radiophonic Workshop.
Someone asked me this week what purpose Snips Movies served in a world with Netflix. Well, let's start with the fact that the little video store just down the road has 9000 mre movies than the multi-billion dollar behemoth! Open 'til 8:00pm. Come and take a look.

I overheard a customer talking to their 10 year old son the other day, who was genuinely gobsmacked that people used to actually LEAVE THE HOUSE to rent a movie. "But what would people do when they were closed?"
Such hardships we've endured! 😂
Anyway, chances are that if you're over a (coughs) certain age, you may well have rented HALLOWEEN or one of its many sequels from a 'video shop', which is something you can do today! Yes, the brand new chapter in the life of Michael My...ers has arrived this week, as Jamie Lee Curtis returns to the iconic role of Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
So don't just go through the sterile motions of pressing a button on your remote to rent it (for double the price), head down to one of the last movie rental stores in the COUNTRY. Bring your kids too, if only to show them what things used to be like in the olden days 😜
If a 71 year-old actor in a William Shatner mask chasing after a pensioner with a big knife isn't your bag, then perhaps submarines are 🤔.
In HUNTER KILLER, deep under the Arctic Ocean, American submarine Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler) is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress when he discovers a secret Russian coup is in the offing, threatening to dismantle the world order. With crew and country on the line, Captain Glass must now assemble an elite group of Navy SEALs to rescue the kidnapped Russian president and sneak through enemy waters to stop WWIII.
Also out this week is JULIET, NAKED. Anne (Rose Byrne) is stuck in a long-term relationship with Duncan (Chris O'Dowd) - an obsessive fan of obscure rocker Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke). When the acoustic demo of Tucker's hit record of 25 years ago surfaces, its release leads to a life-changing encounter with the elusive rocker himself. Based on the novel by Nick Hornby, this heartwarming film is a comedic account of life's second chances.
Meanwhile, the best of the rest include a mutant killer pig on the run in BOAR, Finnish superhero shenanigans in RENDEL: DARK VENGEANCE, and FREAK SHOW which is a great little drama about identity directed my Mrs.Sting (Trudie Styler).
As always we're open 'til 8:00pm (..ish. Knocked off ten mins early last week and got an email. Sorry 🤓), with an outrageous selection of movies that cover over a hundred years of cinema. Come take a look!

It's a family friendly week here at Snips Movies 😃🥳
JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN sees Rowan Atkinson returning as the much loved accidental secret agent. The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. Called out of retirement, English dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, ...Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.
Meanwhile there's SMALLFOOT! An animated adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast, this famiyl feature turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti (Channing Tatum) finds something he thought didn't exist... a human! News of this 'smallfoot' (James Corden) throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in an all new story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery.
And finally, we have GOOSEBUMPS 2! With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare – Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium.
DON'T FORGET! Both SMALLFOOT and GOOSEBUMPS 2 are only £1.00 to rent :D
For the big kids, we have an adventure to the moon... FIRST MAN sees Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight. A visceral, intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective and based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues, and the nation itself for one of the most dangerous missions in history.
Best of the rest this week include NIGHTSHOOTERS, a fantastic British martial arts movie with a good dose of comedy in it too, while VIDEOMAN has to be the best film about a sociopathic Swedish VHS tape collector with a penchant for Italian giallo films that I've seen in quite some time.
Open 'til 8.00pm tonight, with FREE membership and over 11,000 films to choose from.

She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. Without doubt the greatest video store in the World. If you haven't been you are a total schmuck!!

We think you are the only one who can help us through our penchant for foreign films. Do you have Rashomon to lend Farmer Andrew, our mutual friend.

Snips is a revelation! This week I am gorging myself on early Jackie Chan (Drunken Master on Eureka Blu Ray - looks great!), Army of Spies (Jean Pierre Melville shows what it was like in the French Resistance) and Twin Peaks -Fire Walk With Me (because it helps to make sense of the new Twin Peaks: the Return.) 'Disc Doctor' Dave is in charge of the store and he prescribed FWWM to help alleviate my symptoms of befuddlement that TW: the Return had brought on. Thanks DDD.

Love this shop, great films & its only 5 mins away very handy for us & staff are lovely & friendly

User

Like the good old days of vhs video shops from the 80's.

Kicks Netflix into a cocked hat. You name a film and Snips will have it. And what Dave doesn’t know about films, isn’t worth knowing.

User

Fantastic selection and service. They have a real interest in films and can give advice on what's good and what's not which is rare these days.

User

Fantastic films, fantastic service, fantastic prices! Love snips
