We grabbed a bargain caravan for just £79 for 3 nights very late deal

After reading reviews I was regretting it abit even whilst driving I was thinking should we shouldn't we

But I'm so glad I did my kids loved everything about it

The entertainers couldn't do enough to get everyone (including adults) involved and the tribute act on the Saturday was sensational

Yes it's a little dated caravan was fine for us no 5star but what do you expect paying very little prices

On site there's not a lot to do but plenty out in the little village there's a nice woodland walk and splash park with amusements ect

Didnt eat on site again we went into the village to the golf hotel was lovely food and got a take away from in the village on the Saturday night

Would definitely be back again and recommend to others

I think the negative comments are quite decieving we went last week and stayed in a gold caravan we had a fab holiday. I think people need to take caravan holidays for what they are they are a cheap holiday to spend time with your family this is exactly what we got. Caravan was clean n very spacious ive never stayed in a caravan with so much room next to it we had a huge grassy area behind the caravan which was fab for the kids running about. The soft play was ideal. Also the restaurant was very reasonable and food was good. Entertainment was great kids loved it. My only minimal moan is quite a few machines werent working in the games area and i think the pool could be slightly revamped would defo recommend this hokiday park to others x

User

Very pleasant lady when we checked in. No cot or high chair in the caravan as requested but asked at reception and they were there in under 5 minutes. Plenty for the children to do, play park, Astro, soft play, bouncy pirate ship. Went swimming during the week as we had been told it was busy at the weekend, approx 12 people in the pool and they had a lovely time. Having read some of the posts, my answer is you pay for what you get, if you want top of the range then pay for it. Silloth is a lovely town, lovely walk along the prom, views over to Dumfries . As for the staff, all very pleasant and helpful., but maybe if you treat people respectfully in the first place it might help. Yes there was some noise at night but that was the drunk guests going back to their caravans, can’t blame the holiday village for them.

User

Spent 4 nights here last week and had a great time. Our lodge was clean and had recently been painted. We had upgraded to a hot tub lodge but the first lodge we were given didn't have a hot tub. This was quickly sorted by the friendly reception staff. The swimming pool was nice, never too busy. The kids entertainment was good in the evenings and we also did some activities during the day. The splash park in silloth was about a 10 minute walk away and was ideal for cooling down in the heat. We would definitely return to Solway Holiday Village.

User

Overall a great family weekend, our two sons enjoyed the village and activities available. The caravan was cleaned, well maintained, spacious and ideal for a family of four. It was a weekend for the kids and they had no complaints. Also during my sons bungee run activity Robin and a male member of staff "can't remember name" were extremely helpful and accommodating to my son who has autism. Very impressed with the due care and attention he got from both staff members. Great job from both

My only negative feedback was the bubble making, paid for activity but everyone jumping in for a free shot.Might need a rethink on that one

Nonetheless.. itwas a good weekend stay and would visit again, weather permitting

User

Most people would think we're crazy holidaying just 30 miles from home (Carlisle) but we had the best weekend! For one thing the lodge was roomy and comfortable, facilities were adequate (pool, shop, bars, entertainment etc.) and the whole place had a chilled, easy going vibe about it. And being not far from home meant both sets of grandparents could drop in for some quality family time.

Silloth is just a 20 minute stroll or 5 minute bike ride away and there's a much better amusement arcade there as well as pubs, shops and cafės.

I haven't been here since I was 7 and it was the Lido! But we'll be going back for sure. I read the reviews about the place being a bit run down but some people seem to go on holiday just to moan about anything they can - we went to enjoy ourselves and that's exactly what we did!

User

Just got back today and we had a great stay! We just wanted a cheap weekend away to entertain the kids and have family fun and that’s exactly what we had! The kids enjoyed themselves and plenty to do... the outdoor play park, Astro turf, bouncy castle ship, indoor play area, swimming pool (which was lovely and warm) and amusement arcades. Also day entertainment team with different activities and night entertainment too so there’s plenty to do! We went into Silloth and it’s a lovely little place! We went to the amusement arcades and on the train... we only went in for an hour or 2 but it was fab! Only couple of downsides but it didn’t by any means ruin anything for us... the mattress was very uncomfortable and chalet a little rough round the edges but hey what did we expect for what we paid! Overall we had a great stay and will come back again at some point :)

User

Just back from a break at Sollway... We all had a lovely relaxing time-just what we were looking for. Caravan (gold) was lovely & clean, weather was amazing. Kids enjoyed the soft play. Swimming pool was okay, could do with few chutes or something. We went half board & the evening meals were really enjoyable. Brekkie okay, not as nice as evening meals. Overall we had a lovely stay & will defo return! The green just along the road was fab as was the beach. X

User

Had a lovely little break here, chalet was spacious, warm, good hot shower and lovely! Could just do with better mattresses on the beds.

Pub served good food and the staff were lovely, shout out to Connor who always went over and above!

Kids had a great time, pool nice but needs to be warmer! Entertainment was good, the staff try really hard, just a shame no cabaret singers on for at least one of the nights.

Overall we had a good time and will venture back thanks!

User

Don’t know what everyone on here was moaning about, if you want 5* accommodation pay 5* prices! Yes it’s a bit rough round the edges and could do with a bit of smartening up but it’s clean enough and pleasant enough. Staff were great, entertainment was decent, plenty to do. People moaning about having to book your slot in the pool, why? Would you just rather it be a free for all and pool be heaving and unsafe??? No pleasing some folk. Please discard all the negatives, this is a decent holiday park in a stunning, old little town. The ice cream factory in Silloth is superb and Silloth cafe some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten and both literally cheap as chips. Get it booked and get along, very good place.

User

We had a fab holiday

But my lodge no 27 was manky.... spider web and dust behind the bed all over..looked like it was years of dust me and husband had to sleep on sofa what was stained.... no hot water in shower

Bed very hard and creeky fallin to bits...

World cup was on and we had to constantly ask for it on

Glad a enver paid full price for weeekend or a would have demanded it back

Other than this we had fun x

User

Was good for the kids. Evening entertainment was alright. Drinks reasonably priced. Play area / football area was good. Caravan was clean upon arrival. Biggest problem was food service or lack of food service. Won't even go in to how bad the breakfast was. The cold drinks we ordered were warmer than the food. Then we went for tea in the sports bar was advised a 45 minute wait ended up being 1hr 30mins. An they missed off 2 people's food so we had to wait another 30 mins for that. Didn't spoil the weekend but definitely a problem. Food was actually nice tasting just no need for a such a delay.

User

Site was ok we stayed in touring end! Needs some

Desperate TLC! Went in club house once and came straight back out loads of people just getting blotto! And kids running all over not being watched. Pool is really shallow and nothing much for our older boys to do we mostly took them out, Silloth is nice and other places to visit sorry won’t be going back toilet block was small and messy also!

User

Just spent a long weekend at Solway which was enough. I think we got really lucky the weather was lovely, the caravan was lovely, new and clean and spacious. We saw plenty of cleaners doing the other vans as one maintenance guy trimming bushes at the far end of the park where the private vans are.

We arrived late around 6pm and the reception was closed so had to go to the bar. Checked in officially Saturday morning and paid extra for entertainment passes. Adults and kids. The only place they got checked was swimming, the club was a free for all so needn’t have bothered.

We used club once and We stayed 15 mins for bingo because it was just full of shit faced mothers who couldn’t find their kids and we were woken by pissed up noisy parents about 1am. It was really a pass for parents to get wankered and have their kids entertained.

The staff were pretty miserable and really unhelpful. There was one happy bar man but the rest were hard work and rude.

The whole park is so tired and miserable. It looked quite nice entering but the grounds are not maintained and weeds all over and outside tables unkempt. The pond was nearly dry and miserable and just looks scruffy and had a stagnant water smell. The disabled loo had human waste smeared all over the walls ... just no need.

We stayed in the van area and went out and about and made a nice weekend of it but I wouldn’t be going back or recommending it.

If you like a drink and are not particular mithered about the surroundings it is for you. Accommodation is hit and miss but if you are looking for a bit more upmarket give this place a swerve.

User

I booked conistan lodge number 1. Well it's needs a new paint job for one.its scruffy as there is rust everywhere. My young kids wardrobe well if you call a pole infront of a boiler a wardrobe with a door that doesn't shut with two kids under 5 is ideal!shower doesn't work. Swimming pool like a ice box. Hot tub wasn't ready on arrival eve though I payed extra yo arrive early. Door to the hot tub was locked shut with a padlock. The double bed in the main room was on a 3 quarter bed frame. Beds hard as rocks. No spare pillows. Receptionist unhelpful and rude.nothig positive about this place at all. Nothing to do. Worst place I've ever been.

Edit. The entertainment staff are amazing with the kids and will do anything to help. They are lovely and very entertaining.

User

Caravan was very nice almost brand new...but that was proper luck of the draw as my sister got a very basic crappy one with broken bed. No freezer and no storage options.

.Area surrounding caravan was lumpy rock filled hardened mud. Could have broke an ankle.

Life guards left the pool promptly for lunch and left it open for anyone to drown in. They didn't bother to wait for people to leave the changing rooms just left doors open and swaned off.

Didn't try the entertainment, looked dire.

I imagine in its hay day this place was great. Not so much now. Shop shuts too early.

.Never saw the advertised land train. We spent alot of time entertaining ourselves off site

Also paid for entertainment passes for this FB page to advertise free use of the pool to the whole world for the weekend. So so pissed off about that as the pool was the only thing we used!

Ok our positives were, park is good for kids.

Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

User

Caravan 76 had the worse double mattress i've ever slept on, caravan smelt of damp on arrival. Beds made up and caravan clean apart from the smell. Park tidy but appeared unkept fountain had nasty green water in it and wasn't turned on same for the one out back just had a run down feel to it. Shop haha wouldn't call it a shop was terrible, bar was clean but the food was awful first night got a takeaway lasagne and it was stone cold also tried the fish which looked and tasted frozen (seaside village) arcade machines seemed to always break down. Staff need training and guidance will do anything to help but they are badly under trained. Entertainment area had no wheelchair access that i saw and was up 2 flights of stairs and it wasn't really that great once up, wife won £40 on bingo mind u lol but again needs updated. Swimming pool was ok nice and warm but not deep more a kids pool and changing areas where very outdated. The staff we talked to where friendly and helpful but are let down by training and a site that could be great but just isn't.... With investment this would be an amazing park, Silloth is a beautiful village i would maybe just find somewhere else to stay

User

Upon arrival, the place looked run down, but we thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt. Went and got our Keys then went to the lodge.

1. We paid for an extra car which there was no space for an extra car to park at the lodge but was a car park down the bottom so really not needed, would ask for a refund if I thought I’d get it!

2. 2 of the beds weren’t made and shoved into the middle of the room, and I think the lodge was cleaner when we left than it was when we arrived!

3. The beds legs were broken and my partner had to fix them!

3. We thought we would get a takeaway from the pub on the first night, wish we didn’t bother! Pizzas were like wraps they were that flat, £4 for a burger with nothing in it and just chucked in a box! Staff were quite ignorant and saw us stood for 5 minutes before taking our order and the staff member that came walking out before hand didn’t look approachable and clothing was quite ill fitting and dirty.

4. The park itself wasn’t clean, water fountains really mucky and not a pleasant sight.

5. We upgraded and paid the extra to stay in a lodge. Dread to think what the caravan would of been like.

6. We came home early because there is nothing to do on the site at all, never seen the train, the farm was closed and just nothing at all to do, the best part is the park for the kids and that’s over the other end!

7. The shop is totally rubbish and not even worth going into!

**Save your money! I wish we did. Totally ruined our weekend away as a family whilst off work!**

User

In a word shithole. Alleged top of range lodge soon as walked in stank of stale old mothballs. Beds were very old I had to put two mattresses on top of each other to have a half decent nights sleep. Kitchen was so old floor was old chipped so was all the doors all walls were filthy. The hot tub was about two thirds full and again alleged checks every morning were non existent as water kept going down.

Kids club is upstairs with no facility whatsoever to get a pram upstairs apart from stripping it down and carrying it up two flights of stairs. Bar staff so slow if went any slower would be going backwards.
