About St Bride'S Liverpool

Whatever you think of church, St Bride's is doing it differently!

Our vision: http://stbridesliverpool.org. uk /our-vision /

St Bride'S Liverpool Description

St Bride’s is the Church of England’s Parish Church for the University and Canning area of Liverpool. We are committed to a vision of faith which is creative in worship, progressive in thought and inclusive of everyone. We’re offering something radically different from most mainstream churches. Come and join us!

All are welcome at St Bride’s Sunday morning service. We meet at 10am, followed by coffee at 11am and sometimes a shared lunch afterwards.

Our service includes silence, song, creative prayer activities and discussion. We draw inspiration for our liturgies from the work of the Iona Community, Jim Cotter, the Progressive Christian Network, Bruce Sanguin, Inclusive Church, the St Hilda Community and more. First and third Sundays of the month are communion services, second and fourth Sundays are morning prayer, fifth Sundays are Taizé services. There is Godly Play, stories or craft for the young people in “The Greenhouse” and occasionally we break the pattern and have an all age service.

We aim to be a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where faith can be explored in a nonjudgmental and open way with an emphasis on the value of questions, rather than cut & dried answers. There is a strong emphasis on building a community equipped for radical action for peace work, LGBT equality and a pluralist approach to peoples of all faiths and none.

OUR neighbouring church is The Parish of St. Margaret of Antioch, Princes Road, Liverpool. Our Rector Miranda Threlfall-Holmes preached last night at their Patronal Festival eucharist, and gave a feminist, rape culture, privilege and entitlement reading of the hagiography of St Margaret: http://stbridesliverpool.org.uk/…/st-ma rgaret-of-antioch-a-…

For the first time, this year St Bride's is lighting up as part of Liverpool Pride's Come Out Of The Shadows hate crime awareness campaign. Look out for more than 50 public buildings across the region lighting up in the colours of the trans flag and rainbow flag, including Liverpool Parish Church and The Bombed Out Church - Official #COTS18 http://stbridesliverpool.org.uk/…/19/co me-out-of-the-shadows

We are delighted to share that Open Table Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral are joining forces to host a reflective Post-Pride service in the Lady Chapel, the oldest and most beautiful part of this iconic city landmark. After a hectic weekend at Liverpool Pride, come along for a quiet time of music and reflection as we honour all the messages of love and thanks, wishes and prayers which people share on 'prayer flags' at the Open Table community stall during the festival.
Serv...ice starts at 6.30pm with refreshments from 6.00pm.
EVERYONE is welcome - bring a friend. #ComeAsYouAre
Open Table is an ecumenical Christian worship community which offers a warm welcome to people who are: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer / Questioning, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA) and all who seek an inclusive Church. Starting with just six people in Liverpool in 2008, it has grown into a thriving community which meets twice a month at St Bride's Liverpool, and has multiplied across England and Wales.

Liverpool Pride is back for its ninth year, with the theme #AllTogetherNow, which encompasses every branch of the LGBTQIA+ and wider communities, coming together in celebration of equality and diversity no matter what their ethnicity, gender, sexuality, belief or however they define themselves.
The festival venue will be along Tithebarn Street, near the Superlambanana and the march will start from the front of St George's Hall as usual. Open Table, St Bride's, and people from... other churches in Merseyside will once again take part in the march. Bishop Paul, the Bishop of Liverpool and Patron of Pride, will join us again this year. We'll also have an art workshop beforehand, a community stall on the Saturday, and a reflective service on the Sunday to round off the weekend
How do I join in?
Let us know you’re coming by emailing opentablelgbt@gmail.com. Let us know you’d like to march and if you’ll be bringing friends, family or folk from your congregations/community. Do please let us know you are coming so we can share with you where the group will muster as it can be extremely difficult to find the group amongst thousands of marchers. As there will be speeches and music, it will be too loud to hear a mobile phone so you may miss us if we don’t know you’re coming along
Buy a T Shirt:
Buy a Christians at Pride t-shirt - onebodyonefaith.org.uk/shop/christians-at -pride-t-shirt
Buy an Open Table t-shirt - email opentablelgbt@gmail.com with size by Friday 20th July.
If you are ordained, please consider wearing your dog collar and/or a stole/scarf.
Make some placards: Come along to St Bride’s, Percy Street, Liverpool L8 7LT on Monday 23rd July 4.00pm to 7.30pm to create some placards or banners to carry during the march sharing a message of radical Christian Inclusion. Alternatively make your own at home or in your church and bring them along on the day.
Help out on the Open Table stall: Open Table will be hosting a stall in the community tent offering a chance for festival goers to have conversations, make prayer flags, and get their face painted. If you could spare an hour or two to help between 11am and 6pm on Saturday 28th July, let us know.
Extend the invitation: If you know of any other churches who would love to show their support extend the invitation or send their details to us and we’ll do it for you.

"Most religion is obsessed with a small number of outer behaviours, and we clergy think it is our job to enforce these outer behaviours. This is largely a waste of God’s time—and ours". http://ow.ly/p3YA30kUUBQ
